Chapter 460: Antidote
The last word had barely been spoken when a deep voice suddenly cut in. "What happened to Claire?"
Landon Winston stiffened and instinctively turned, giving a standard military salute. "Young Master Quincy!"
Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod. He walked with a steady gait and stopped in front of Cecily Taylor, his cold gaze landing directly on Claire Sinclair’s unconscious face.
BA-DUMP, BA-DUMP...
For the first time in her life, Cecily Taylor lost her composure in front of a man. Her heart began to pound erratically, completely awed by his noble and domineering presence.
When she’d seen him on television, she had always felt he was completely unattainable. But now, he was standing right in front of her, and the assertive woman was suddenly struck by a single thought—’I have to have him!’
’Conquer this man and become the future first lady!’
Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly. Without a word, he reached out, gathered Claire Sinclair into his arms, and turned to leave.
Cecily Taylor couldn’t help but call out, "Young Master Quincy!"
Adrian Quincy paused briefly but didn’t turn to look at her.
Her heart in her throat, Cecily Taylor summoned her courage and said, "Professor Sinclair just had a little to drink. You might need to get her something to help her sober up."
Adrian Quincy gave a slight nod. Ultimately, he didn’t say a word and carried his wife to his private car.
Landon Winston also got into the car, taking the passenger seat. As soon as the car began to move, he spoke up. "Young Master Quincy, the Young Madam never drinks when she’s out. I’m afraid there’s something suspicious going on."
Adrian Quincy’s voice was low. "Check the restaurant’s security footage."
"Yes, sir." Landon Winston replied, silently pulling out his phone to issue the order.
Adrian Quincy lowered his gaze to his wife’s unconscious face, his brow suddenly knitting together. Even if Landon Winston hadn’t said anything, he would have known she hadn’t been drinking.
Because there wasn’t the slightest scent of alcohol on her.
’If I hadn’t arranged for people to protect her in secret, what would those people have done to her?’
Adrian Quincy didn’t dare to let his thoughts go further, but a flicker of rage ignited deep within him.
’I will not let this matter slide.’
-
Claire Sinclair woke up on a large, soft bed. Her head was pounding, and her body was unbearably hot, as if something were about to burst out from within.
She instinctively pulled at her collar, pushing herself up to get out of bed. She wanted to wash her face to clear her head a little.
The moment her feet touched the floor, her knees gave way, and she lost her balance, pitching forward.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms reached out and wrapped around her slender waist. A light scent of cologne filled her senses. She snapped her head up to see a familiar, handsome face and froze, completely stunned.
"Mr. Quincy... what are you doing here?"
The question had barely left her lips when she became aware of her surroundings. ’How did I end up in a hotel? Weren’t we just at the restaurant?’
Adrian Quincy’s gaze was instantly drawn to her wide-open collar. His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his voice came out a little dry and hoarse. "Claire, how are you feeling now?"
"Uh... I’m a little hot. I want to take a shower... and I have to pee..." By the end, Claire Sinclair’s face was beet red.
Adrian Quincy turned slightly and handed her a pale-colored drink from the table. "Feeling hot means the drug hasn’t completely worn off. Drink this."
"What is this?"
"The antidote."
"An antidote for what?"
Claire Sinclair was confused.
Adrian Quincy softened his tone. "Someone put an aphrodisiac in your drink. I had Zifeng prepare this antidote for you. It should help; you won’t feel so uncomfortable after you drink it."
Hearing this, Claire Sinclair hastily drank the medicine.
The wave of heat raging through her body seemed to subside a little, but she still felt uncomfortable.
