Chapter 442: The Results Are Out
Inside the package was a small white box, the kind you’d use for a ring.
Claire Sinclair took out the small box and opened it. Inside, she saw a diamond as big as her thumb...
’If this diamond is real, how much would it be worth?’
Claire Sinclair didn’t know much about gems. She was both curious and unsettled. ’Who on earth is sending me this stuff? What’s the point?’
’Wait, I just remembered something...’
Claire Sinclair thanked the delivery guy and returned to her desk. Tossing the diamond aside, she picked up her phone to check the date. ’Isn’t my birthday in just three days?’
’Could it be? This diamond and the five boxes from yesterday... are they all birthday gifts?’
At this thought, Claire Sinclair couldn’t help but message a certain someone: "Mr. Quincy, I just got another anonymous package. It’s a huge diamond, but I don’t know if it’s real."
Adrian Quincy: "The test results for yesterday’s five boxes are in. Everything is real."
Claire: "They’re all real...?"
Adrian Quincy: "The total value is over two hundred million. Some of them are thousand-year-old cultural relics that were lost overseas. You could do a special report on them and publicly donate them to the national treasury. That would keep people from spinning false narratives."
’Holy crap, even antiques are involved!’
’In that case, the source of all this gold and jewelry must be shady.’
Claire Sinclair replied, "Okay, but I have a gut feeling I’m going to receive more gifts."
Adrian Quincy: "What makes you say that?"
Claire: "My birthday’s in a few days. Do you think they could be from a secret admirer? Or maybe they were meant for my older sister? I feel like either is possible."
Adrian Quincy: "I already have people investigating the source of these items. We should have answers soon. Don’t go public with this until it’s over. I’m afraid someone might use this as a chance to send you something dangerous. If you get another package, be careful not to open it so quickly."
Reading his message, Claire Sinclair felt a wave of delayed fear. "Got it. I’ll be sure to remember!"
Putting her phone down, Claire Sinclair’s mind was racing. ’As for that special report... I think I’m starting to get an idea.’
After finishing work for the day, Claire Sinclair grabbed a camera and headed straight back to Quincy Manor as soon as her shift ended. She photographed the five boxes from yesterday, then found an appraiser to conduct a brief interview, carefully recording all the data.
The next day, just as she’d suspected, Claire Sinclair received several more anonymous packages. In addition to necklaces and other jewelry, today she received designer shoes, a custom-tailored gown, and women’s perfume.
Claire Sinclair specifically asked Xiao Le from the newspaper’s fashion section to help her appraise the items. Xiao Le confirmed they were all authentic, with a total value of over five million.
But that wasn’t the most shocking part...
Just before the end of the workday, she got a call from a delivery driver. He said a car for her had arrived at their depot and asked if she wanted it delivered to her office or if she would pick it up herself.
Claire Sinclair immediately called a certain someone for help. Adrian Quincy sent Aiden Howkins to accompany her to the delivery company’s depot.
Seeing it in person was a real shock.
It was a limited-edition RT supercar. Aiden Howkins said its base price in its country of origin was at least twenty million, and after import taxes in Aridia, it would be no less than twenty-five million. However, the car wasn’t street-legal in Aridia, so it could only be kept at home as a collector’s item.
’The person who sent me this car must be out of their mind,’ Claire Sinclair thought.
By the third day, Claire Sinclair realized just how naive she had been...
That day, in the morning alone, she received a total of four ultra-luxurious sports cars from different brands and different countries. Their combined value also exceeded a hundred million.
