I Married the President

Chapter 434: Claire Sinclair, Are You a Pig?

Claire Sinclair lifted her feeble hand, picked up the phone from the table, and glanced at the time. It was a quarter past ten.

’No way!!!’

Claire shot up in bed. The moment she jumped out, her body gave way and she collapsed onto the floor beside it.

Her entire body was weak, her legs powerless. Her knees, in particular, refused to straighten.

’Just how wild was last night!!!’

Claire was too embarrassed to recall the events of last night—in fact, she didn’t dare to. She quickly opened the livestream page on her phone. Astoria Television was featuring Adrian Quincy’s speech on its front page.

The speech had already begun.

Claire eagerly tapped on it, hearing him speak eloquently in fluent English.

He was so confident, so at ease, like a young professor giving a university lecture, or a benevolent ruler touring among his people. Gentle and refined, with a graceful bearing—it was a side of him she had never seen before.

’So, he can not only command respect with might; his intellect is just as brilliant.’

Unfortunately...

She had overslept and missed her chance to hear his speech in person.

She just had to oversleep!

’Are you a pig, Claire???’

Claire angrily ran her hands through her hair, then quickly shook her head, forcing herself to focus and continue listening to the rest of his speech.

She listened to almost every word. There were parts she didn’t understand, but she grasped the majority of it.

He didn’t mention anything related to his presidential campaign. Instead, he shared little-known stories about peacekeeping, conveying his philosophy of peace to the world.

When the speech concluded, the livestream ended.

Only then did Claire push herself up from the floor, holding her aching lower back as she walked into the bathroom to take a shower.

When she came out, she discovered a brand-new dress hanging in the closet. It was long enough to cover her bruised knees.

’That guy... He even thought of this. Does he have to be so thoughtful!’

Suddenly, Claire felt she might just be the happiest woman in the world.

’Hehe...’

At twelve o’clock sharp, a room service attendant pushed a cart to the door and rang the bell.

Claire was starving, so she didn’t think twice before opening the door.

Only to see a face she knew to her very core—a fiendishly handsome face she never wanted to lay eyes on again...

"O... O... Sir..." Claire was so frightened, her voice stammered.

Orion Osborne gave her a polite, gentlemanly smile. "Don’t be afraid. I’m not here to hurt you. I just happened to be passing by and wanted to come see you."

"But I don’t want to see you," Claire retorted, mustering her courage.

She didn’t know why, but even though she was scared to death, she still found the courage to draw a line between them.

Orion seemed to have expected her rejection and simply laughed it off. "Adrian Quincy isn’t my target this time. However, I’d still like you to pass on a message for me. Tell him to treat you well. The moment I find out you’re unhappy, that will be the day he dies."

"You... you’re insane!" It took her a long moment of stammering to spit out the two-word curse.

Orion pulled a small box from his pocket and placed it on the food cart. "A gift for you. Enjoy your meal."

With that, Orion turned and left.

Claire stood frozen in the doorway, hesitating for a long time. She didn’t dare lift the cover off the food cart, let alone open the small box he had given her.

Just then, her phone buzzed. She immediately picked it up and saw a text message from an unknown number.

Unknown Number: Open it. I won’t hurt you.

Claire bit her lip and lifted the cover off the cart. Underneath, she saw a small sandwich and a glass of milk, both of which looked delicious.
