Chapter 451: Endless Argument

Cecily let out a sudden cry, reflexively looking up at Claire Sinclair with a frown. "Brother, are you sure? ...Okay, goodbye."

After hanging up, Cecily Taylor immediately turned to Claire Sinclair. "Professor Sinclair, my brother says he has a story he’d like to leak to you. Would you be willing to add him on WeChat?"

Claire Sinclair raised an eyebrow. ’If I say no, people will gossip about the mentors not getting along, especially since it’s only the first day of filming. But if I agree... I can definitely sense some ill intent here.’

’Whatever. It’s just adding someone on WeChat. It shouldn’t be that much trouble.’

Claire Sinclair graciously took out her phone. "Sure. Just have him add me. My WeChat ID is my phone number."

Cecily Taylor immediately sent Claire Sinclair’s number to her brother. A moment later, Claire received a friend request.

Claire Sinclair tapped "Accept." The next second, a message came through from a user named "Taylor’s Highway": Hello, Reporter Sinclair. I’m Cecily’s brother. It’s a pleasure to meet you.

Out of courtesy, Claire Sinclair replied: You have a story for me?

Taylor’s Highway: You’re still busy. I’ll tell you when you have a moment.

Claire Sinclair felt the urge to delete him immediately. ’If he really had a story to leak, he wouldn’t be stalling. This guy definitely has other intentions.’

At that thought, Claire Sinclair immediately changed her Moments privacy settings to "Visible only to self." Only then did she put her phone away, feeling more at ease.

After lunch, there was no break for anyone. Not for the judges, not for the contestants, and not for the production crew. Filming resumed immediately.

They had only gotten through about twenty contestants in the morning, and the afternoon pace wasn’t likely to be much faster. Getting through all one hundred contestants would surely mean working late into the night.

Everyone expected the afternoon competition to go smoothly, but then a highly controversial contestant appeared. His vocals were top-notch and his songwriting skills were strong, but he was a stiff dancer. On stage, he was a bit selfish, completely disregarding his teammates.

Cecily Taylor really liked the contestant, but Mimi Fisher found his performance lacking and a bit monotonous. Master also felt the contestant was too much of a maverick with no sense of teamwork, and therefore didn’t deserve an A.

But Cecily Taylor was adamant in her support for the contestant, arguing endlessly with the other two judges.

Before they knew it, ten minutes had passed, and Cecily Taylor still refused to budge. If the argument dragged on any longer, it would start to affect the other contestants’ performances.

Mimi Fisher finally decided to bring Claire Sinclair into the discussion. "How about this? Let’s have Professor Sinclair evaluate the contestant and see what she thinks."

Cecily Taylor was on the verge of snapping, ’What does *this* woman know?’ But since the show was still being recorded, she knew there were some things she couldn’t say out loud.

"Fine. Professor Sinclair, what do you think of this contestant?"

Claire Sinclair had actually been wanting to voice her opinion for a while, but she couldn’t since the cameras weren’t on her.

Now that the cameras were finally on her, she immediately began to speak. "If this were a solo competition, this contestant would be a great success. But this show is about forming a boy band, not finding a solo idol.

"It’s like a soldier in battle. A single soldier can’t take on an entire enemy regiment alone, not unless he’s sacrificing himself to take them all down with him. But this contestant is clearly not the self-sacrificing type. Instead, he sacrificed his teammates to ensure his own survival. In my opinion, a contestant like that doesn’t deserve an A. He should be sent to Class F to find some team spirit."

The moment she finished speaking, Mimi Fisher couldn’t help but applaud. Master nodded in agreement. "I agree with Professor Sinclair. No matter how skilled an individual is, without a sense of teamwork, the group is bound to fall apart sooner or later."
