Chapter 475: Deal with That Woman
The contestants grew restless. Although they privately doubted Claire Sinclair’s qualifications, they’d always admired her love story with Adrian Quincy.
Ultimately, they were on their side, and one by one, they started shouting their blessings: "Get married already!"
"Professor Sinclair, Young Master Quincy, I support you!"
"Married, married, married!"
As the contestants kept shouting, their calls soon merged into a unified chant.
Claire Sinclair blushed, a shy look in her eyes. For a moment, she was at a loss for words.
Adrian Quincy spoke up again. "The wedding talk is a separate matter. Let’s talk about something that actually concerns you—your Professor Sinclair. I know many of you have been questioning her, but I must remind you of something. When Claire first appeared on this show, it was never said that she was here to assess your talents.
If you were a bit smarter, you would’ve figured out why the producers paid a fortune for her to take on such a thankless task. Nobody wants to work in vain, and that includes all of you. Stop using your own narrow-mindedness to judge the purpose of others.
The kind of high-caliber idols I hope to see are those who can withstand the test of time—idols who will still be revered and seen as role models many years from now. That is the true purpose of being an idol."
After he finished speaking, everyone was lost in thought.
Some of the contestants glanced furtively at Claire Sinclair. It felt as if they were on the verge of an epiphany, yet nothing was clear. They still couldn’t figure out her true purpose for being on the show.
Claire Sinclair let out a soft sigh. ’He really went out of his way to say all that. I’ve never seen him talk so much to people he barely knows, aside from that one speech at Meridia University.’
Adrian Quincy suddenly pulled out his phone. After glancing at a text from Aiden Howkins, his gaze snapped up. "Claire," he said, "I need to step out and make a call."
"Okay." Claire Sinclair nodded.
She watched his retreating figure, a pang of reluctance in her heart.
Seeing her opportunity, Cecily Taylor quickly made an excuse and left the recording set as well.
-
Adrian Quincy went into the garden alone. Aiden Howkins and a few of his men were already waiting. As soon as they saw him, some of them moved to secure the perimeter.
Aiden Howkins walked up to Adrian Quincy. "Young Master Quincy, it’s been confirmed. The head of The Asura Path, D, has entered Aridia. Their movements and objective are currently unknown."
"Where is Frank Morgan?" Adrian Quincy asked, his voice low.
"Still with Elder Roland."
"This isn’t the time to engage The Asura Path. That goes double for Frank Morgan. Watch him, and don’t let him do anything rash."
"Yes, sir!" Aiden Howkins snapped a military salute.
Just as Adrian Quincy was about to say more, he heard the sound of a dispute behind him. "What are you doing? I already said I have something important to tell Young Master Quincy!"
"Young Master Quincy gave an order: no one is to approach."
"I told you I have something very important to tell him, and it’s about Claire Sinclair! What right do you have to stop me? Let me through!"
"Miss Taylor, please don’t make things difficult for us..."
Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly. He said to Aiden Howkins, "Go deal with that woman."
Aiden Howkins looked distressed. "Young Master Quincy..."
Without another word, Adrian Quincy turned and walked away.
Utterly helpless, Aiden Howkins turned and walked over to Cecily Taylor. "What is it?" he asked, his face expressionless.
Cecily Taylor said at once, "Adjutant Hawkins, I have something I want to say to Young Master Quincy. Where is he?"
"Young Master Quincy has already gone back. Tell me what you have to say, and I’ll pass it on."
"He went back..." Cecily Taylor was deeply disappointed but didn’t let it show. "Well, here’s the thing. Next Tuesday is my birthday, and I’d like to invite Young Master Quincy and Professor Sinclair to my party. I know how protective Young Master Quincy is of her, so I felt I should get his approval first."
