For this book to have come this far, I must first thank all of you for your support. Last Monday, during the push for the Sanjiang Recommendation list, you all voted with your monthly tickets and set a new record. At the end of this note, I will list some names in thanks. Let these readers represent all of you, who will forever be a part of this book’s journey!
Besides all of my amazing readers, I want to give special thanks to three people. The first is my editor, Shiguang of Group 12. He’s a genuinely good person and is willing to give chances to those who are serious about writing stories. That’s how I got my first opportunity to publish on Qidian.
The second is the author of *Rebirth: 1982 Little Fishing Village*, the wonderful Mi Fan de Mi! It’s my favorite book in recent years, and I’ve been following it religiously. Three months ago, while scrolling through Douyin, I discovered that she is a female author writing for the male audience channel. A thought struck me then: ’Could I, like her, write a historical slice-of-life novel?’ No grand power struggles, no invincible protagonists—just a story about the people and happenings in a small corner of the world, simple, ordinary, and joyful. That’s how this book was born. When I started writing, passed the internal review, and made it onto the Sanjiang list, I messaged her each time to share the good news. She always replied with such enthusiasm, which was a huge encouragement to me!
The third is my friend, Old G. Like me, he’s a fledgling author who’s been writing for less than a year. He gave me a ton of advice when I was starting this book. Of course, after my manuscript was successfully approved, he stopped helping me review my drafts and even threatened to report my book every day. It’s a perfect example of the saying, "You hate to see your buddy struggle, but you hate it more to see him driving a Range Rover." Still, I love the guy, and I hope his book gets approved by Qidian... a little later than mine!
Many books go premium at 100,000 or 150,000 characters, but I waited until I’d written over 250,000. Part of the reason is that I wanted more readers to discover the book before it goes behind a paywall. I’m hoping that, if you think the story is decent and see that I’m hardworking and sincere, you might spend a few cents to give me a "first subscription" and help me get off to a slightly stronger start.
This book is frequently flagged for review because of my own stubbornness. My editor warned me that there were risks to writing about this particular era and suggested I choose a later time period. But after long consideration, I decided to stick with it. Every era has its own charm and deserves to be remembered.
Alright, I’ll leave it at that. There’s so much more I want to say, but it can all be distilled into one sentiment: gratitude. Thank you all for your generous support, and thank you for this journey we’ve started together!

As for the update schedule after going premium, you all know my situation. I’m still working on my writing speed. I practically worked myself to the bone saving up these nineteen Chapters for the launch because I didn’t want to disappoint you. So for now, the daily schedule will tentatively be three Chapters. As my speed improves, I’m confident I’ll get faster. Please look forward to my performance! As for the rules for bonus Chapters, let’s do one bonus Chapter for every 200 monthly tickets and ten bonus Chapters for an Alliance Lord. I’ll continue to release all the Chapters for the day at noon.
