Chapter 210 - 124: Planning Ahead

Several of his colleagues were already eating.

Qin Xingzu opened the insulated container and found his meal, which had his name on it. All the engineers in the app development office ate customized special meals.

This was Jiang Miao’s way of showing his appreciation for their hard work. They had been putting in a lot of overtime for the past few months, and considering that most of the software engineers were in less-than-ideal health, Jiang Miao had taken the time to give them each a check-up and design a specialized meal plan.

While it didn’t have the same brain-boosting effects as the food he and Shuya ate, it at least kept them energized and clear-headed, while also reducing liver and kidney damage and preventing hair loss.

After a month of eating the special meals, coupled with an hour-long walk in Nanhu Village every evening, Qin Xingzu could feel a significant change in his body. The dark circles under his eyes had faded considerably, his complexion was rosy and glowing, and he no longer got out of breath after just a few steps.

The complexions of his other colleagues had also visibly improved.

They’d heard from colleagues in other departments that the boss’s skills in medicinal food therapy were incredible, but they had been skeptical.

But after a month of experiencing it firsthand, Qin Xingzu and the others knew the boss’s medicinal food therapy was the real deal—far more effective than any health supplements they had ever taken.

After they finished their meal, he and a few colleagues went out for a walk.

By this time, the sky had already darkened.

Nanhu Village was very quiet. Besides the occasional sound of a TV coming from the houses lining the road, the only other sound was the RUSTLING of leaves in the wind.

Before they knew it, the group had walked to the entrance of the Nanhu Farm office building.

They ran into a dozen or so middle-aged women getting off work.

A Shunfeng Express container truck slowly pulled out from the side of the road, another full container of packages sent on its way.

Behind it, another container truck was being loaded with goods.

"Business seems to be pretty good."

"No kidding. We’re the only company that can artificially cultivate White Truffles."

"White Truffles are nothing special."

"Heh, you get to eat them all the time. Of course you’d think they’re nothing special."

"Still, the company’s food benefits are really good, much better than the takeout we used to eat."

"I heard the company distributes virtual shares. I wonder if we get any?"

Qin Xingzu took a sip of black coffee from his thermos. "Of course we do, but you have to have worked here for a full year before they start distributing them. Our office won’t be eligible until next October."

"That’s good to hear."

They continued walking until they reached the end of the concrete road, then turned back.

In a corner of the quiet, peaceful village, inside a brightly lit office, a group of passionate and creative programmers toiled day and night on a brand-new shopping app.

Compared to startups that only made empty promises, the benefits at Hailufeng Company were already quite good.

The employee responsible for the project’s interface and interaction design was the veteran programmer Old Li. His gaze was fixed on the computer screen in front of him, which was filled with complex code and architecture diagrams.

He was only 41. Five years ago, he’d been working at a major tech company, but once he turned 36, he naturally became a target for "optimization."

"Brother Li, can you take a look at this for me..."

"In a minute."

Old Li saved his current file before rolling his chair over to his colleague, Xiaogao. Xiaogao had only graduated two or three years ago, so his programming experience was no match for an old hand like Old Li.

After reviewing the code and having Xiaogao explain the intent behind a few lines, Old Li used an AI debugger and finally found two problems:

"The value in this line of code is set wrong. You have an extra zero."

"Oh? I thought I could just use the code from the previous block..."

"And here, you need to add a..."

The team members quickly threw themselves into their work.

Another person, Xiaowang, who was in charge of interface design, was focused on designing the user interface. He was racking his brains to meet the boss’s requirements.

The boss wanted users to feel the company’s fresh and natural vibe the moment they opened the app, but with a touch of modern technology.

"This interface has to be clean and simple. It needs to highlight the unique features of our agricultural products and feel high-tech, all while letting users quickly find what they’re looking for," Xiaowang muttered to himself, his hand on the mouse.

Xiaozhang, who was in charge of database management, was working hard to optimize data storage and retrieval to ensure that a large amount of product information could be accurately and quickly presented to users.

After all, the company’s range of agricultural products would only grow more diverse. This demanded precise data, as users couldn’t be shown incorrect information. Even if some features weren’t needed now, they would be in the future.

And Xiaozhao, responsible for the security and payment system, pushed up his thick glasses. He was meticulously building a secure internal firewall to protect user transactions and privacy.

Although the programmers in the app development office were working very hard, they had only just begun formal development and hadn’t even completed a rudimentary prototype.

When Qin Xingzu and the others returned, he clapped his hands.

"You’ve all worked hard. Go eat and take a walk! Work is important, but you need to balance it with rest."

"Is it that late already?"

"Let’s go, time to eat."

In a short while, more than half of them had gone down to the first floor.

Meanwhile, Qin Xingzu and his group sat down at their workstations to begin their evening overtime.

...

Although the app’s development was crucial to the company’s revenue, Jiang Miao wasn’t too concerned. It was the kind of thing he could leave to his employees.
