Chapter 226 - 217: Li Minghan of the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower
The Ten Thousand Beasts Tower had a rule regarding attire, which varied according to one’s status. The lowest-grade uniform was embroidered with only a single Spirit Beast and was otherwise indistinguishable from ordinary clothing.
The next level up featured a ten-beast design. A uniform of this stage could already be considered a low-grade Magic Robe.
Similarly, above that was the Hundred Beasts Robe, which signified a member of the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower’s middle or upper management.
Above the Hundred Beasts Robe was the Thousand Beasts Robe. As for the Ten Thousand Beasts Robe, it could only be worn by the master of a Ten Thousand Beasts Tower branch, whose cultivation had to be at the Golden Core realm at a minimum.
The young man before him, however, was plain-looking yet wore the Thousand Beasts Robe of the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower. ’His status can’t be simple,’ Yu Changsheng thought. ’Never mind anything else, this Thousand Beasts Magic Robe alone is priceless. The enhancement it provides the wearer must be unimaginable.’
More importantly, Yu Changsheng could also sense the young man’s cultivation fluctuations. They were stronger than that of an ordinary Foundation Establishment Sixth Layer Cultivator; he had likely already stepped into the Seventh Layer.
In addition, Yu Changsheng sensed the fluctuations of a Beast Taming Contract from him. Clearly, he was also a Beast Master.
Seeing the slightly dazed look in Yu Changsheng’s eyes, the young man gave a faint smile and spoke casually.
"Ah, I forgot. Changsheng, you’ve only just entered the Inner Sect, so you might not be familiar with things yet. I suppose you could call me your senior brother."
"I’m also an Inner Sect Disciple of Beast Taming Peak. My name is Li Minghan. It’s a pleasure to meet you."
Li Minghan finished speaking and looked at Yu Changsheng with a grin.
Yu Changsheng, on the other hand, slapped his forehead as if in sudden realization.
"So you’re Senior Brother Li! I’ve heard so much about you. Truly, I’ve heard so much about you."
"Hahaha." Li Minghan let out a hearty laugh. He gave Yu Changsheng a curious glance but didn’t seem to mind his insincere flattery, smiling as he said:
"Is that so? I doubt my name is that well-known, but I’ve certainly heard your name, Changsheng, mentioned quite a lot. You truly are young and promising."
"Your talent in Beast Taming is especially admirable. If I have the chance in the future, I’ll have to ask you for some pointers."
Yu Changsheng gave a hollow laugh, chuckling sheepishly and scratching his head.
"Not at all, I still have a long way to go. From now on in the Inner Sect, I’ll be relying on your care, Senior Brother."
"Of course." Li Minghan nodded, patting Yu Changsheng’s shoulder with a bright-eyed, familiar expression. "If nothing else, at least within this Ten Thousand Beasts Tower, I—your senior brother—still have some influence."
As he spoke, Li Minghan smiled faintly, a hint of arrogance unconsciously showing on his face.
"To be honest, the master of this Ten Thousand Beasts Tower is my father. I suppose I’m just riding on his coattails. If you need anything, just let me know."
"I see." Yu Changsheng understood. ’So his background really is extraordinary,’ he thought, putting on an appropriately admiring expression.
And this expression clearly pleased Li Minghan, making him feel quite smug.
And so, Li Minghan, trying his best to appear nonchalant, beckoned over the nearby Xiaosi. After hearing about Yu Changsheng’s earlier request, he adopted a thoughtful expression and said:
"I hear... Changsheng, you’re in need of a Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake?"
"Yes. Do you happen to have one here?" Yu Changsheng asked.
Li Minghan lowered his gaze. "The Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake... that’s considered a rare species among Tier Two Demon Beasts."
"We did acquire one some time ago, but it wasn’t a live one—it was a corpse. It’s fairly well-preserved. We were originally planning to auction it off. As you know, that Odd Demon Pavilion opened up across the way, and they’ve been rolling out all sorts of bizarre Demon Beasts. So, we’ve been planning to procure some rare species of our own, even trying to raise them ourselves."
"But since you’re the one who needs it, Changsheng, then of course it’s no problem. I’ll use my authority to sell the Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake to you."
Yu Changsheng’s heart leaped when he heard the first part—he hadn’t expected his own Odd Demon Pavilion to be brought up. But he breathed a sigh of relief at the end.
’For my purposes, it doesn’t matter. I’m not going to form a Contract with it anyway. As long as the bloodline hasn’t withered, a live specimen and a corpse are one and the same.’
In fact, when he heard it was a corpse, Yu Changsheng was secretly delighted. After all, there was a huge price difference between the two; a live one was worth many times more than a corpse.
"One moment, I’ll have someone bring it over."
Li Minghan clapped his hands. A moment later, an attendant came over holding a specially-made Storage Pouch from the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower and respectfully handed it to Yu Changsheng.
Yu Changsheng accepted it and swept his Divine Sense inside. A hint of a smile touched his eyes.
Inside the Storage Pouch lay the complete corpse of a Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake. Its body was massive, and even in death, the pressure it emitted was far beyond what an ordinary Qi Refining practitioner could withstand.
As its name suggested, the Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake had the body of a serpent but with three wings arranged like a clover on its back. Its head resembled that of a water buffalo, but without horns. Its massive body was a full ten zhang long, and its golden corpse glinted with a metallic sheen.
Even as a mere corpse, faint golden flames still flickered across its surface, dancing and swaying.
This was a Three-Winged Golden Flame Snake—a rare species known as the king of Tier Two Demon Beasts!
"A pity. This Demon Beast had a ferocious temperament, so the chances of capturing it alive were minuscule. Otherwise, for a Beast Master, the benefits of forming a Contract with it would have been endless."
Li Minghan sighed softly, a look of regret in his eyes.
"It’s fine. Some things can’t be forced." Yu Changsheng chuckled. After a brief glance, he placed the Storage Pouch in the middle of the tea table.
"Senior Brother Li, please see how many Spirit Stones this will be. I’m ready to pay."
