Chapter 1545: Slaying the Ghost
Everything about to unfold before his eyes was already "seen" by Zhang Yi.
The ability Tracking of All Things allowed him to evade any impending danger and find the most suitable countermeasures against his enemy's attack methods.
"Divine Domain Purification!"
Before Nukekubi could even reach Zhang Yi, an immense force suddenly erupted in the void, directly crushing him into a compressed ball!
"AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!"
This king of the Night Parade, master of wandering phantoms, now let out a bone-chilling scream of agony.
His originally diminutive body was ruthlessly squeezed into a flesh lump the size of a leather ball.
After the scream faded, he rapidly retreated through the air.
But this time, as he "crackled" and stretched his twisted body back into shape, blood soaked every inch of him.
He crouched atop Canine God's head, staring at Zhang Yi with eyes full of venomous hatred.
"It seems that having a physical form, even with greater power, means losing that ability for infinite regeneration. Or rather—"
Zhang Yi looked toward Kami-musubi-no-Kami and said calmly, "Summoning the hundred demons is also one of your abilities!"
If his opponent was a summoning-type Transcendent, Zhang Yi felt much more at ease now.
At the very least, it meant that a significant portion of his strength didn't come from direct combat.
"Then let's start slaughtering!"
Huahua let out a low growl.
High above, Kami-musubi-no-Kami furrowed his brow. He seemed not to have expected Zhang Yi to be this troublesome.
Then he reached out, plucked a black magatama from his scepter, and tossed it toward Zhang Yi.
Another round of black suns came crashing down, this time targeting the entire space surrounding Undying Mountain.
He anticipated Zhang Yi would dodge, so he used an area-wide attack, using Deng Shentong and the others below to force Zhang Yi into taking his blow head-on.
But to his surprise, Zhang Yi's Dimensional Gate collided with the black magatama like thunder igniting wildfire—black sparks flying everywhere—yet ultimately absorbed the entire massive energy into itself.
However, the next moment, the Dimensional Gate began shaking violently, as if on the verge of collapse.
A smug smile curled at the corner of Kami-musubi-no-Kami's lips.
"I knew you couldn't endlessly absorb attacks without limit!"
Zhang Yi replied, "Too bad you don't know I can reflect attacks!"
Any force absorbed by the Dimensional Gate without damage could be reflected back through vector manipulation.
Against opponents too weak, Zhang Yi usually killed them instantly without needing this technique.
Against opponents too strong, there was no chance to use it either.
But when facing a Transcendent whose strength was comparable to his own, the terror of this move truly shone.
"Full Counterattack!"
The black magatama, carrying terrifying energy, came back with just as devastating force as when it arrived!
Kami-musubi-no-Kami's pupils sharply contracted. "What?!"
He hadn't expected Zhang Yi to reflect his attack, and he certainly lacked Zhang Yi's Absolute Defense.
Left with no choice, he hurriedly swung his scepter downward. Several magatama shot out rapidly, transforming into massive flying stars that collided with the returning strike!
A storm erupted, leaving Edo City even more shattered and ruined.
Kami-musubi-no-Kami was blasted back by the force, flying thousands of meters away.
Meanwhile, Zhang Yi, using his Dimensional Gate to absorb all the shockwaves, stood steady on Huahua's back.
"Just as I thought."
Zhang Yi looked down at the earth below.
"Maintaining the Night Parade of One Hundred Demons consumes a massive amount of your energy. So right now, you really aren't much of a threat to me!"
In Edo City, the Night Parade raged on.
The revived demons displayed even greater power, bringing immense danger to Liang Yue and the others.
But Zhang Yi paid them no attention. Facing four Epsilon-class enemies at once required his full effort.
As for his companions below, whether they could survive the battle depended on their own strength.
Zhang Yi had already done enough for them.
In this world, a person must first learn to rely on themselves.
"It seems I've underestimated you! Time and space—two of the rarest abilities—actually converge in one person!"
"Interesting. I think I can understand why the Dragon Nation chose you as their subject for cultivation."
Kami-musubi-no-Kami stared at Zhang Yi, his voice deep.
Three Ghost Kings appeared behind him. Earlier, they had maintained the posture of powerful beings, attacking Zhang Yi one by one.
But now, they clearly regarded Zhang Yi as a true enemy, ready to launch an all-out assault without reservation.
Zhang Yi frowned.
"Dragon Nation? What are you talking about?"
This was the first time Zhang Yi had ever heard that term.
The dragon was a sacred mythological creature in Huaxu Nation.
Its image had always been present in Huaxu's legends and myths.
But to this day, no real evidence had ever proven its existence.
The only so-called "physical evidence" was that small golden dragon specimen that Deng Shentong wanted to obtain.
But what it actually was, Zhang Yi couldn't determine.
Perhaps it was the remains of some lizard, wrapped in gold foil to look like what it was now.
Kami-musubi-no-Kami's icy eyes fixed on Zhang Yi.
"Hm? You don't even know about the Dragon Nation? Then where does your power come from?"
"My power naturally comes from myself!"
Zhang Yi said.
A look of shock mixed with anger suddenly appeared on Kami-musubi-no-Kami's face.
"That's impossible! At the beginning of the Great Cataclysm, a Transcendent of your level couldn't have emerged naturally!"
He extended a finger, and Zhang Yi noticed his hand wasn't human—long, thin, bony fingers covered in gray fur, like the claws of some creature.
"Without the interference of Angels, I refuse to believe it!"
His mouth spewed more terms Zhang Yi couldn't understand at all.
If the two weren't currently enemies, Zhang Yi would have genuinely wanted to have a proper conversation with him.
"What the hell is the Dragon Nation? What the hell are Angels? I've never heard of any of this."
"And there are Transcendents with strength like mine in this world—not many, but some exist."
Zhang Yi explained.
But Kami-musubi-no-Kami shook his head.
"No, you don't understand. I'm not talking about something that superficial."
"RUMBLE!"
High above, thunder rolled, as if the heavens themselves were enraged!
Kami-musubi-no-Kami looked up at the sky, then back at Zhang Yi.
"No time for nonsense. Whoever you are, wherever you come from, I will kill you here today!"
As his words fell, he raised his arms high, and the scepter in his hand clinked with metallic sounds.
Thunderbolts struck behind him, tearing through the sky, carrying an awe-inspiring pressure.
An even greater, more terrifying power emerged from Kami-musubi-no-Kami's body!
Zhang Yi's brows shot up, a faint smile playing at the corner of his lips.
"Thunder rumbles faintly, the sky is overcast. May the wind and rain come, and keep you here with me."
He looked up at the four enemies before him and chuckled.
"But I think I'll be leaving!"
