I'm in Senior Year, and the System Says I'm Going on a Blind Date with My Childhood Sweetheart

Chapter 347 - 189: Li Zhi, Just What Is in That Head of Yours?

Li Zhi sat on the chair, her legs still propped up on the bed, feeling momentarily dazed.

Her fingers subconsciously clutched the hem of her clothes she had just been fiddling with, her vacant gaze fixed on the bathroom, from which the fierce sound of running water now echoed.

’He finished the massage... and just ran off like that?’

Li Zhi blinked, still puzzled by his sudden departure.

But then, the image of Shen Yuan—his face beet-red, his retreat so hasty it could only be described as him fleeing in disarray—replayed vividly in her mind.

His hurried movements, his evasive, darting eyes, and that final, desperate rush where he didn’t even care that he’d bumped into the bedframe...

And then... this sudden, violent sound of running water...

A thought struck her like a bolt of lightning, cutting through the fog in her mind.

’He... he... he...’ Li Zhi’s breath caught in her throat.

The RUSHING sound of the water felt as if it wasn’t splashing against the sink, but pouring directly onto Li Zhi’s own face.

’He ran to use cold water... to wash his face? No! That’s not it... Don’t tell me...’

Her heart instantly began to pound against her ribs like a drum. The blush that hadn’t quite faded from her cheeks deepened abruptly, blazing like a fiery cloud.

The heat spread from the base of her neck, not only searing her face but turning her earlobes a blood-red. Her entire neck was flushed crimson.

A belated, overwhelming wave of shame and indescribable panic crashed over her.

’You damned asshole! Pervert! Selaan!’

Li Zhi screamed silently in her mind, finally understanding exactly what Shen Yuan had rushed off to "take care of"!

She threw her hands over her scorching cheeks and, without a second thought, dove under the covers of Shen Yuan’s bed.

Listening to her own pounding heart and the now deafening RUSH of water, every sound seemed to vibrate against her eardrums.

Her feet, where Shen Yuan had just massaged them, still seemed to tingle with the residual warmth of his palms and the memory of his desire-filled kneading through her thin socks.

In this suffocating, belated realization, even the cool touch of the thin, silky socks against the insteps of her feet felt exceptionally distinct.

Her toes curled instinctively in renewed embarrassment, digging into the soft sheets and creating a deeper swirl of wrinkles.

In the room, the sound of the running water was a clear sign of the desperate, deliberate attempt at composure by the man who had just fled the battlefield.

Shen Yuan stood at the sink, repeatedly scooping up handfuls of cold water and splashing it on his face.

But the momentary chill of the water did nothing to extinguish the fire that had ignited deep within him.

If anything, the images from before only burned themselves deeper into his mind.

’It’s not enough...’

Shen Yuan braced his hands on the cold countertop. The next second, he abruptly bent over and plunged his entire head into the gushing stream.

The cold water cascaded down, instantly soaking the short hair at the nape of his neck.

The stream washed over his head, soaking his hair completely. It trickled down his neck and chin, seeping into his collar and staining his shirt a darker shade.

"Damn it!"

The water shut off abruptly. Shen Yuan yanked his head out of the sink, cold drops trickling from his soaking hair deep into his collar.

He could still feel the fire that had flared up from deep inside him, refusing to be extinguished.

’Who the hell said dunking your head in cold water would work?!’

He muttered a curse, yanked a towel from the nearby rack, and hastily rubbed it over his head a few times.

The movements were rough. The coarse fibers of the towel scraped against the wet ends of his hair, splashing water onto his face and collar, but doing nothing to dispel the burning heat.

The mirror reflected a disheveled face.

Shen Yuan braced his hands on the edge of the sink, his knuckles white from the pressure.

Shen Yuan tried to calm down, but he was young and full of vigor. Moreover, his body had been enhanced by the system, making him exceptionally robust and that much harder to rein in.

Back in the room, where the sounds of Li Zhi’s heartbeat and the running water had once intertwined, the water had since fallen silent.

The seconds ticked by. The bathroom door remained tightly shut, but Shen Yuan still hadn’t emerged.

Li Zhi remained curled up in the chair, her cheeks still burning. Her toes subconsciously kneaded the folds of the bedsheet.

As the sound of the water fell silent, Li Zhi’s heart skipped a beat.

She had absolutely no idea how she was going to face him.

’He’s been in there so long... That guy...’ Li Zhi’s breath hitched.

It wasn’t like Li Zhi was completely clueless. The boys in her class at school were always joking around about... certain things.

Through sheer exposure, Li Zhi had a pretty good idea of what a guy might do in a situation like this.

Thinking of how Shen Yuan had fled in disarray, and now this eerie silence, her fingertips unconsciously tightened their grip on the covers.

’His beet-red face flashed through her mind. He couldn’t be doing something... indecent... in there, could he?’

’Or... he’s not just trying to hold it back, is he?’

’No, no, I can’t think about this anymore! It’s too perverted!’

’Li Zhi, you can’t let Shen Yuan corrupt you!’

Li Zhi patted her scalding cheeks, trying to banish the thoughts from her mind.

And yet, a sliver of curiosity began to sprout in her heart.

’What exactly is Shen Yuan doing in there?’

Though the blush on her cheeks had yet to fade, she couldn’t sit still any longer.

She gently lifted the covers. As her feet touched the floor, they trembled slightly from her lingering embarrassment.

Her gaze fell upon the small table by the bed, where Shen Yuan’s phone lay.

She padded over silently and snatched the phone.

She stopped in front of the bathroom door and pressed her ear against it to listen, but there wasn’t the slightest sound from within.

Li Zhi blinked. She waited a while longer, but still couldn’t hear any sign of movement from inside.
