Chapter 320 - 182: Shen Yuan: Be Nicer to Me in the Future
Shen Yuan paused, then said with a serious expression, "So, for the sake of family harmony, we have to keep holding hands on the way home."
Li Zhi pursed her lips. After a moment of thought, she nodded.
"Fine. But let me be clear, I’m only doing this for the sake of family harmony!"
Shen Yuan nodded, beaming at Li Zhi. "I know, I know. Li Bao has worked so hard for this family~"
"Hmph! Selaan!"
With that, Li Zhi tossed her head, her ponytail tracing a sassy arc through the air.
The pretty girl strode forward on her long legs, heading quickly toward the school.
Since they were getting a long break this week, Friday’s classes were filled with yet another exam.
Yesterday, at Old Zhou’s direction, Class 15 had already switched seats. The same was true for the neighboring Class 14.
Class 15 and Class 14 shared the same set of teachers, so their schedules were more or less identical.
Back in the classroom, Li Zhi quickly found her seat.
Even though the seating had changed, Shen Yuan and Li Zhi were still seated together.
"I wonder if today will be another one of those all-day exam sessions." Shen Yuan pursed his lips, slightly worried.
’It’s best to steer clear of an absurd schedule like a full day of exams.’
Li Zhi shook her head. "Probably not. I have a feeling the exam schedule will be a bit less formal."
It was just as Li Zhi had predicted.
During what was supposed to be the morning English reading session, their Chinese teacher, Zhou Ruolan, appeared.
The moment Zhou Ruolan appeared, any English reading that might have started died down completely.
Before the students could even voice their confusion, Sister Lan cut in, "Today’s morning reading is now Chinese. We’ll start the exam at 8:30. Oh, and by the way, this whole morning is dedicated to Chinese. After the test, we’ll go over it. If there’s any time left, we’ll have class."
The corner of Shen Yuan’s mouth twitched as he looked at Li Zhi in stunned disbelief. "Well, I think I have a pretty good idea what the schedule for this afternoon will be."
Li Zhi nodded, managing a strained smile. "Me too."
While it wasn’t a full day of non-stop testing, the process was still somewhat unexpected.
All day Friday, it was a Chinese exam in the morning, a math exam in the afternoon, and an English exam during the evening self-study session.
They started analyzing the test papers immediately after finishing, and any leftover time was used for review.
Four periods of Chinese in the morning, four periods of math in the afternoon, and three periods of English during evening self-study.
Shen Yuan had a strong suspicion that his Eldest Female Cousin had moved her English class to the evening self-study session just to be lazy.
In any case, Friday passed by just like that.
After enduring the torture of a full day of testing before, faced with this level of intensity, Shen Yuan could only say,
’It was just okay’ (in a super-bubbly voice).
On Saturday, the physics, chemistry, and biology teachers took over the entire morning to give Class 15 a comprehensive science exam. The rest of the time was spent analyzing the test papers.
They spent one hour on physics, while the remaining two periods were left for chemistry and biology.
The schedule for the two days was divided up plain and simple.
When the second afternoon class ended, the classroom erupted in cheers.
"WOOHOO! Long break!"
"It’s the long break! Let’s get a game going!"
Amidst the cheers, Shen Yuan was uncharacteristically solemn. He hurriedly packed his bag and started rushing Li Zhi.
"My dad’s here. It’s time to go."
"I know, I know." Li Zhi quickly packed her schoolbag.
Seeing them in such a rush, He Zhiyu, who sat in front, asked with a confused expression, "Zhizhi, what are you guys up to?"
"We’re going to get the cats neutered!"
With that, Li Zhi tossed her schoolbag into Shen Yuan’s hands. "Hold this! Zhiyu, see you tomorrow!"
Before the words were even out of her mouth, Li Zhi and Shen Yuan were already out of the classroom.
He Zhiyu watched them go, blinking.
’Clearly, this was a big deal.’
Shen Yuan and Li Zhi quickly made it out of the school gates, then jogged to a street next to the school where parking was allowed.
"Over there, over there." Shen Yuan quickly spotted Old Shen’s car and led Li Zhi over.
As soon as he opened the car door, Shen Yuan heard two loud meows.
"Whoa, you guys are loud."
After glancing at the cats in the carrier in the back of the car, Shen Yuan turned to Zhang Yuyan in the passenger seat. "Mom, have you kept them off food and water?"
Zhang Yuyan nodded. "I have. They haven’t had anything since they ate this morning."
"Okay! Let’s go!"
Just as Shen Yuan finished speaking, the car pulled away smoothly.
During the drive, Li Zhi kept turning around to look at the kittens in their carrier in the back, her brow furrowed with deep worry.
"Genggeng... is he always like this when you take him out?"
Li Zhi’s worry deepened as she looked at little San Geng cowering in a corner of the carrier.
Shen Yuan had always been the one to take the two cats for their vaccinations, so Li Zhi had no idea what they were like when they left the house.
Shen Yuan nodded. "Yeah, he’s actually pretty timid. He looks bold, but he’s a real coward. Naonao is different. He’s deaf, so he’s more... dopey?"
Hearing Shen Yuan’s words, Li Zhi sighed softly.
"Why are they in the same carrier? Didn’t you get two?"
Shen Yuan pursed his lips and explained, "If I put them in separate carriers, they’d both be scared. I brought two because they have to be kept apart after the surgery."
Li Zhi nodded, and a look of relief washed over her as she gazed at Shen Yuan.
’It feels great to have someone take care of everything.’
However, that feeling of relief quickly vanished at the sound of a meow.
Li Zhi knelt on the back seat, reaching her hand toward the carrier to gently rub the side. "Genggeng, Naonao, be good now."
