The Enchantress instantly let out an agonized scream.

SPLURCH!

Then, the Lotus Hand shot out of its body, clutching the Inner Core.

"Got it!"

Xu Lei smiled at the sight. "This Inner Core is even bigger than the one from the last one I killed!"

Xu Lei then stowed the Inner Core away.

He recalled his other abilities, leaving out only the black alms bowl and the Puppet-Exorcising Bell.

The black alms bowl pinned down the corpse, preventing it from sending any messages or leaving behind any future complications.

He then used the Bell to command the Human Puppet to relentlessly hack at the corpse.

After all, the twelve Enchantresses had once hacked Xu Lei into mincemeat!

The Enchantress before him had, of course, been one of the participants!

Of course, Xu Lei had to return the favor!

He continued until the Enchantress was also reduced to little more than mincemeat.

Xu Lei then activated the black alms bowl again, its light shifting to a fiery hue.

It directly refined the remains into a black, gaseous energy.

Then he used the Bell to absorb it.

He activated the Bell again, channeling the energy into the Human Puppet’s body.

This Enchantress’s strength was roughly equivalent to the Mid-stage Bodhisattva Tree Realm.

Of course, the cultivation Realms for Demons like them surely weren’t called the Bodhisattva Tree Realm or the Bodhisattva Fruit Realm.

They had their own names for them.

After all, their cultivation systems were different.

The Mid-stage Bodhisattva Tree Realm was still within the scope of the Lower Three Realms.

Xu Lei was now in the Middle Three Realms.

There was a gap of several Small Realms between them.

Furthermore, Xu Lei had ambushed it and thrown everything he had into the attack. The Enchantress never stood a chance.

Although he had killed the Enchantress and obtained a Demon Core, Xu Lei didn’t leave right away.

He sliced a small piece off the Demon Core.

He used some array-setting materials he had acquired—some from the cave with the Spirit Gathering Array, others from the underground cavern of the Centipede Demon—to set up an Evil Array.

He then placed the small slice of Demon Core within it.

The rest of the Demon Core, however, he kept suppressed at the bottom of the black alms bowl.

Xu Lei wanted to see if the other Enchantresses would be able to track the aura of their companion’s Demon Core. ’If they do, I might be able to kill another Enchantress!’

With that, Xu Lei settled in to wait silently.

「Three days passed in a flash.」

On this day, a small bird suddenly flew into the Array Xu Lei had set up.

It flew over to the slice of Demon Core Xu Lei had left out.

It even tried to snatch it.

However, the Array’s Power activated, unleashing a black arrow that killed it instantly.

Observing all this from a distance with his Telescope, Xu Lei immediately understood. ’They really came.’

’The arriving Enchantress is quite cautious. It didn’t come to investigate in person. Instead, it used some unknown technique to control this bird.’

Of course, Xu Lei also knew that since the bird had been killed by his Array’s Power, the hidden Enchantress must now know that its companion—the one sent to procure supplies—had run into trouble.

Xu Lei didn’t make any rash moves.

’After all, I still don’t know which Enchantress it is. Or how many of them have come? If it’s one of the more powerful ones... I won’t be able to handle it by myself.’

He hadn’t asked any other masters to come along.

Fortunately, the Telescope had a very long range.

After observing for some time, Xu Lei finally spotted Phantoms flickering in the distance.

’It must be the Enchantresses. They’re skulking around, trying to find who killed their companion. They must suspect that whoever set up the Array is also hiding nearby.’

So Xu Lei was positioned much farther away than they were.

Thus, Xu Lei had spotted them, but they had yet to spot him.

’They all came!’

Xu Lei’s pupils shrank at the sight of those figures.

’That’s right. The remaining ten of them are all here.’

Their figures flickered about, taking up high-ground positions in several different directions.

And in one of those spots, three figures moved as one.

These three were the ones who had left the deepest impression on Xu Lei.

One was the tall, corpulent female Enchantress who had first ambushed him.

Another was their leader, the towering and brawny Male Enchantress.

And finally, there was the tall, slender female Enchantress who had been the first to spot him as he escaped the cave, just before his death.

The two female Enchantresses flanked the Male Enchantress, one on his left and one on his right.

They were clearly his right and left hands.

Of course, Xu Lei didn’t make a move.

He was only one man, after all.

’If I were to face any of the other seven, besides that main trio... In a one-on-one fight, I’m confident I could win. But if they team up, it’s hard to say. If it was just two of them together, I might still be able to take them down, but it would definitely take a fierce fight. But in a situation like this? No way. The moment I make a move, the other Enchantresses will swarm me. I’d probably lose another life to them. And that’s not even mentioning the three strongest ones.’

Xu Lei figured he wasn’t a match for any of them one-on-one right now.

’They must all be comparable to the Upper Three Realms.’

After all, the tall, corpulent female Enchantress had shattered the bones in his arm with a single blow.
