Chapter 59: The Thunder Rain Dao
"The Dao isn’t just an end point, the Dao is the Dao. Is the way and the destination, the Dao has no begin nor will it have an end, because even nonexistence is encompassed within the Dao."
Lin Yuan murmured the words slowly, letting the weight of the monk’s declaration settle over him.
As the monk heard what Lin Yuan murmured, a serene smile graced his features.
He then slowly lifted his right hand, and stretched out a single, glowing finger. He placed it gently against the center of Lin Yuan’s forehead.
"Let me show you," the monk whispered.
Instantly, the roaring rivers, the mountains, and everything of the world vanished into a blinding flash of white light.
When Lin Yuan’s vision cleared, he found himself suspended in the infinite, pitch-black abyss of outer space.
There was no up or down, no gravity, no atmosphere. He was surrounded by a canvas of absolute nothingness, punctuated only by the distant, glittering dust of billions of stars. Instinctively, Lin Yuan spread his divine sense to assess his surroundings.
To his absolute shock, his divine sense did not just project outward; it violently exploded, soaring past its limits at an unfathomable speed.
Lin Yuan gasped, his body trembling. ’My divine sense just covered a million miles in a single breath!’
It was impossible. Even legendary Soul Transformation experts would bleed from their eyes if they attempted to stretch their consciousness across such a vast expanse. But to his profound shock, there was no end. His divine sense just kept going, expanding across galaxies, reaching into the deepest, darkest corners of the void, and yet it found no boundary, no edge, no final wall.
’Is this area trying to imitate what senior said? ’ Lin Yuan thought, his mind racing as his perception spanned the cosmos. ’That the Dao has no end or beginning?’
As the moment went by, Lin Yuan’s expanded consciousness allowed him to witness the unfathomable lifecycle of the universe. In that boundless space where he found himself, he saw multiple scenes unfolding simultaneously across millions of lightyears.
He saw a massive planet crack and violently detonate, its molten core erupting into a glorious, devastating supernova that wiped out everything in its path. But right beside it, in the cooling nebula left behind by a previous cosmic death, he saw the dust coalescing. He watched strange, new life sprouting from the ashes—bizarre, luminescent organisms blooming on the surface of newly forged worlds, taking their first, fragile breaths amidst the silence of space.
Creation and destruction, playing out on an endless loop.
As he observed these scenes, true enlightenment finally descended upon him. Lin Yuan began to understand. Every single path, every Dao cultivated, has the essence of the origin buried deep within it. But only by intersecting it with another path can one truly see that origin, revealing the absolute source from which the two distinct paths initially sprouted.
’Depending on one’s ability, one only needs a single merged Dao to cultivate the origin and align themselves with the Dao! ’Lin Yuan realized. ’I’m not too sure about my limits right now, but from what I have seen in this void, I should quickly merge my Rain Dao and my Thunder Dao to form the Thunder Rain Dao!’
He was in a supreme state of spiritual elevation. He was literally seeing the origin brushstrokes of the universe, witnessing the raw power of cause and effect!
Then, another realization struck him regarding the monk. ’Is this why senior painted the mountain and river screen?’
The monk had not just painted a landscape for aesthetic pleasure. He wanted to know what the Heavenly Dao was knowing! He wanted to be the Heavenly Dao itself to understand its perspective, to simulate its dominion over life and death. There was an ancient saying that flashed through Lin Yuan’s mind: "To truly understand the brush of the creator, one must become both the infinite canvas and the impartial painter."
Armed with this absolute clarity, Lin Yuan did not hesitate.
High above the void, Lin Yuan’s Nascent Soul manifestation violently sprouted forth. The towering, ethereal giant dominated the starry abyss.
In its massive left hand, it held the vibrant, pulsing energy of creation—a brilliant green light forged from the imitative power of the thunder’s aftermath. In its massive right hand, it held the absolute, terrifying energy of destruction—the crackling purple of heavenly tribulation.
’Thunder lays destruction, and with it, we can imitate creation,’ Lin Yuan’s mind roared, his thoughts perfectly synchronized. ’But thunder is chaotic. It requires an anchor to truly mirror the Dao. And that anchor is the impartiality of rain!’
The Heavens were not impartial. The monk had proven that. The Heavens played favorites, giving wings to the eagle and scales to the fish. But rain? Rain was absolute.
’With the impartiality of rain, it gives impartial destruction and impartial creation!’
As he perfectly meld these concepts, Lin Yuan’s mind began understanding the underlying intersection between the two various Dao’s, his voice shaking the surrounding planets.
"When the clouds weep, they do not choose the soil they nourish. When the lightning strikes, it does not hate the tree it shatters. To hold life and death without prejudice is to hold the true weight of the heavens!"
The moment the words left his lips, flashy, cataclysmic energy scenes erupted across the void.
The giant Nascent Soul slammed its two hands together. The crackling purple thunder of destruction and the vibrant green thunder of imitative creation violently clashed. But instead of exploding, the essence of the Rain Dao flooded between them, acting as the perfect bond.
Azure water, purple lightning, and green vitality swirled together in a blinding vortex. The energies twisted, fighting for dominance before finally submitting to Lin Yuan intent.
The vortex rapidly shrank, condensing into a single rune that branded itself directly onto the forehead of his Nascent Soul.
He had merged his Dao!
The Thunder Rain Dao had been formed!
A shockwave of pure Dao Rhythm exploded outward, rippling across the million miles of space his divine sense had covered, calming the dying stars and nourishing the planets. Lin Yuan felt a profound peace settle over his entire being. He had touched the origin.
And right after that absolute harmonization was achieved, the cosmic void vanished.
Lin Yuan blinked, the rich air of the mountain peak filling his lungs once more. The monk standing before him offered a knowing smile, and gently removed his glowing finger from Lin Yuan’s forehead.
