Chapter 236 - 232: Resounding Slaps
CRACK!
As Beichen Ximen struggled violently, the branch that had snagged her clothes snapped in two.
Beichen Ximen let out a terrified scream as she plummeted from the air. It looked as though she was about to land in the Lotus Pond, which was swarming with man-eating fish.
Just at that critical moment...
A fiery red light shot over from beyond the Lotus Pond. A sharp aura whistled through the air, wrapped around Beichen Ximen’s body, and whipped her back to safety.
Just like that, Beichen Ximen was rescued, pulled back as if she were being wrapped in a blanket.
She was spared the fate of ending up in the fishes’ mouths.
"Ximin, my precious daughter, you’re all right! Thank goodness you’re all right!" Wang Fei murmured repeatedly, still shaken as she looked at Beichen Ximen in her arms.
"Waaaah, wuuu..."
Beichen Ximen was stunned for a moment, but upon seeing Wang Fei, she finally broke down and began to wail.
As she cried and sobbed, she glared at Hong Yu and Little Feng with a chilling, venomous hatred. "Mother, I want to kill them! I’ll cut off their hands and feet and chop off their heads to use as balls..."
Wang Fei nervously patted Beichen Ximen’s back, comforting her. "Don’t cry, sweetheart, don’t be afraid! With Mother here, no one can hurt you."
Beichen Ximen gritted her teeth, her little face contorted with a ferocity and viciousness that belied her age. "Mother, help me kill them."
"Fine!"
Wang Fei shot to her feet, her cold eyes fixed on Hong Yu and the boy in his arms, Little Feng.
Wang Fei was, in fact, a great beauty. The mature, sensual allure of a young madam that she exuded was even more tempting than that of Beichen Tianshuang or Sister Qin.
Her every expression, whether a frown or a smile, was like that of a foxy vixen, capable of seducing any man’s heart.
Wang Fei narrowed her eyes, grinding her teeth with a grating sound. "You dare lay a hand on my precious daughter? Good. Very good. If I don’t kill you both here today, then I’ll have failed as a mother."
"Guards! Seize these two culprits for me—dead or alive!"
Wang Fei shrieked.
The commotion had long since drawn the attention of the powerful guards of the Beichen Mansion. Upon hearing Wang Fei’s order, a hundred experts, all spoiling for a fight, converged on the scene in an instant.
Every one of them wore a brutal, murderous expression.
An arsenal of blades, spears, and swords transformed into sharp glints of light. They rained down like a meteor shower, blotting out the sky and instantly cornering Hong Yu.
"Little Feng, close your eyes!" Hong Yu patted Little Feng’s head.
"Big brother, don’t fight them. Can you please just take me away from here?"
Little Feng seemed to realize that if this continued, Hong Yu would be forced into a battle of life and death. He looked at Hong Yu with deep concern.
Hong Yu smiled faintly, gently patting Little Feng’s head as he shook his own. "Little Feng, you must remember what I’ve told you before. To defeat your enemies, you have to be even more vicious and ruthless than they are."
"But..."
Little Feng looked at Hong Yu, his expression a mixture of understanding and confusion.
Hong Yu chuckled. "Don’t you trust me, little guy?"
Little Feng quickly shook his head.
Hong Yu grinned. "If you trust me, then hold on tight and watch your big brother teach these insolent lackeys a proper lesson!"
"Be careful, big brother!"
said Little Feng.
Pressing Little Feng’s head into his chest, Hong Yu took a deep breath. With a twist of his right hand, the Godslaying Spear materialized in his palm.
"Get lost!"
He swept the spear through the air.
The Spear Aura fanned out like a meteor shower, its powerful winds and energy fluctuations making one’s heart pound.
A golden Spear Aura, like a ferocious Golden Dragon, swept out. With the crack of a Divine Dragon Tail Swing, it lashed out and struck one of the guards.
The charging guard’s body shuddered. His savage face froze, and his features began to twitch in a comical fashion.
Then, the guard’s body snapped in half at the waist like a piece of sugarcane. He spat out a mouthful of blood and was sent flying like a cannonball. The power behind Hong Yu’s spear was immense. Though he was only at the Peak of the Earth Soul Realm, his strength surpassed that of an ordinary Celestial Soul Realm expert.
The guard hurtled backward, crashing into his comrades and sending bodies flying everywhere in his wake.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Amid the screams of agony, a total of seven guards tumbled into the Lotus Pond.
Under the sharp teeth of the man-eating fish, they were reduced to ghastly white skeletons.
HISS!
A collective gasp swept through the crowd.
The guards, who had been aggressive and eager for a fight just moments ago, couldn’t help but stop in their tracks, staring at each other in stunned disbelief.
Seeing this, a cold glint flashed in Wang Fei’s eyes. "Useless! A bunch of useless trash! Get him! All of you, get him and finish him!"
"Kill!"
"If he doesn’t die, we will! Let’s go all out!"
Gritting their teeth and fearing Wang Fei’s ruthless punishments, the group steeled themselves and charged forward.
Facing the nearly one hundred guards charging at him again, Hong Yu’s eyes glinted with a grim light. ’These guards are just following orders,’ he thought. ’Even if I kill them all, more will just take their place. Besides, if the body count gets too high, it might cause trouble for Little Feng. In that case, there’s only one option: to catch the snake, I must first crush its head!’
The moment the thought crossed his mind, Hong Yu kicked off the ground, sending a cloud of dust billowing behind him.
The Godslaying Spear shot out with the extension of his arm. Its sharp, golden Spear Aura became a vast, spinning vortex of golden light, unleashing sharp, glittering attacks as it moved.
Energy flowed through the golden Spear Aura, and every rotation whipped up a violent storm.
The storm kicked up sand and stones wherever it passed.
Any guard who touched the Spear Aura was sent flying backward. Like pieces of meat sliced by a sharp blade, they were split in two right down the middle. With a single thrust, he had carved a path through the men.
Hong Yu moved with incredible speed. He leaped high into the air, his body nimble. Tapping his toes on the pavilion by the Lotus Pond, he shot through the path he had just created.
"Damn it..."
Wang Fei’s expression shifted. She realized Hong Yu was charging straight for her. Shock gave way to fury. "You useless trash! Stop that little bastard for me!"
"Kill!"
"Protect the Lady!"
More guards rushed forward.
Hong Yu was utterly fearless. Not a hint of trepidation showed on his face as he charged forward like a heroic general facing an army of thousands.
"Three Flames Palm!"
Hong Yu snorted.
A Fire Dragon coiled around his body, cladding him in what looked like flame armor emblazoned with Nine Dragons Coiling. The intense heat of the flames instantly melted most of the guards’ weapons into puddles of molten iron.
The guards screamed in agony.
Their hands were left charred and reeking.
"Ice Divine Blade!"
His Cyan Eyes flashed with a blue light. The three Earth Soul Realm experts blocking his path looked dazed for a moment. Hong Yu took a step forward and sent them flying with two kicks.
Stomping on the ground, he reached out his hand. With a SWOOSH, he broke through the last line of defense and appeared right in front of Wang Fei.
Wang Fei was at the Early-stage Celestial Soul Realm, but she knew her combat prowess was no match for someone like Huo Yan.
And now she was facing Hong Yu?
Her eyes darted around, and she suddenly snapped, "How dare you, Hong Yu! I am the eldest daughter of the Wang Family! My father is Wang Ba, the Chief Elder of the Guiyuan Sect! If you dare to touch a single hair on my head, I will make you wish you were dead and have your entire Hong Family annihilated!"
"Your father is Wang Ba?"
Hong Yu paused, looking at Wang Fei with a strange expression.
Wang Fei said instinctively, "Scared now, are we? If you dare hurt me, my father will..."
Before she could finish her blustering threat, Hong Yu grinned. "To hell with him!"
The grin was followed by the crisp sound of a SLAP.
Wang Fei clutched her left cheek, where a fiery red palm print was already forming. The stinging pain filled her eyes with disbelief. "You... you... you dare hit me?"
"This slap is for Beichen Tianshuang. As her sister-in-law, you not only failed to care for her but actively plotted against her. You deserved to be hit!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Hong Yu raised his hand and slapped her again.
"This slap is on behalf of your daughter. As a mother, you’ve completely failed to raise your child properly. For her to be so cruel and vicious at such a young age, she’s a little viper. You deserved to be hit for that!"
Hong Yu followed up with two more slaps—SLAP! SLAP!—sending Wang Fei flying through the air.
"And those two slaps were for Little Feng. He may not be your son, but he is your husband’s own flesh and blood. By rights, that makes you half a mother to him. But not only did you fail to care for him, you targeted him, framed him, and even tried to murder him time and again. Tell me, don’t you deserve a beating?"
Hong Yu’s every word was like a knife to the heart, and with each sentence, the color drained further from Wang Fei’s face.
Finally, Hong Yu glared at the stunned and bewildered Beichen Ximen. "And you," he said coldly. "So young, yet your heart is already that of a viper. Who knows how many people you’ll harm when you grow up. I’m warning you now: if I ever see you using your status to bully others again, I will personally throw you into that Lotus Pond."
Thump, thump, thump!
Beichen Ximen’s face turned sheet-white. She staggered back a few steps, her terrified eyes locked on Hong Yu.
Hong Yu snorted, then spun around with Little Feng in his arms. He swept his gaze over the surrounding guards. "Who dares to stop me?"
"..."
The guards looked at each other in dismay. They had the numbers, but as they stared at the youth holding Little Feng, not a single one of them had the courage to make a move.
Hong Yu gave a cold smile.
Cradling Little Feng, he strode away with his head held high, like a triumphant general.
Over a hundred valiant and imposing guards could only stand aside, watching helplessly as he left...
Wang Fei didn’t know how she got back to her room.
She waved a hand, dismissing the servants to take the equally traumatized Beichen Ximen to rest. Then, she collapsed onto the floor. She gently raised a hand to her stinging cheek, her mind replaying the scene of Hong Yu slapping her four times in front of everyone.
Every one of Hong Yu’s rebukes felt like an unbearable humiliation.
A long, long time passed...
Finally, a spark of life returned to Wang Fei’s eyes. But it wasn’t the light of remorse. It was a chilling, venomous hatred, ruthless to its very core.
She was like a venomous snake whose tail had been trod upon, poised at every moment to strike back at her enemy.
A sinister voice rumbled in her throat. ’Hong Yu? Beichen Feng? Good. Very good. I didn’t want to resort to using the Blood Killing Tower, but since you dared to do this to me, you can’t blame me for being ruthless.’
Her eyes gleamed with sinister venom and the thrill of vengeance. She squeezed each word out through gritted teeth, her voice carrying a chill that would make one’s blood run cold.
’The Blood Killing Tower... the strongest assassin organization in the Southern Ten Nations. Not even a Primordial Core Realm expert can escape their hunt. Hong Yu, I don’t care what it costs. I will make you wish you were never born!’
