Chapter 147: The Twisted Truth Behind Gordon Luiz
Meanwhile, inside the executive penthouse of The Luiz Conglomerate headquarters...
"What did you just say?!"
Gordon shot to his feet so abruptly that his chair nearly toppled over.
"Chainsaw was taken even with seven to eight armed bodyguards protecting him?"
"And after all this time, you still haven’t figured out who carried out the operation?"
He slammed both hands onto his desk.
"What the hell are you idiots doing? Find them! Now!"
His hands trembled with barely restrained fury. No matter how many deep breaths he took, the anger boiling inside him refused to settle.
Most people in New Orleans had no idea who Chainsaw really was.
Gordon did.
The man was Silas Sr.’s only biological son, the last person the old man truly cared about.
What Gordon didn’t know was that Silas Sr. had quietly kept an insurance policy against him all these years.
Still, the old man had spent decades handling the family’s dirtiest work. If news of Chainsaw’s disappearance ever reached him, there was no telling what desperate measures he’d take to save his son. Even the slightest leak from those old days could bring everything crashing down.
What unsettled Gordon the most was a terrifying possibility.
Luca.
The operation bore all the hallmarks of his handiwork.
To abduct a heavily guarded mercenary without leaving behind a single trace...
That wasn’t something an ordinary businessman could accomplish.
It meant Luca possessed an intelligence network in New Orleans far beyond anything Gordon had imagined.
---
For the next three days, Luca remained at Crescent Security Solutions, personally overseeing the investigation.
"Heh..." Rico flipped through a stack of evidence files, a cold smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. "Gordon covered his tracks well over the years, but he still left behind one fatal weakness."
Standing beside him, Agent Zeffen chuckled.
"Honestly, the old man wasn’t brought down by his enemies."
"He was brought down by his own son."
He wasn’t exaggerating.
Based on the evidence recovered from Silas Sr., most of Gordon’s early crimes were either protected by expired statutes of limitations or lacked enough physical evidence to secure a severe conviction. At worst, he might have served a few years in prison.
Dexter, however...
He was another story entirely.
Ten years earlier, after becoming obsessively infatuated with a university student, Dexter had violently assaulted her.
It wasn’t the first time.
Unlike his previous victims, though, the young woman couldn’t bear the trauma. She climbed to the roof of her dormitory and ended her life.
When her devastated parents refused a massive settlement and insisted on pressing charges, Dexter completely lost control.
He led several hired thugs to their home and beat the elderly couple so viciously that both were left permanently disabled.
Even then, they refused to back down.
No amount of money or intimidation could make them abandon their pursuit of justice.
Panicked that his future was about to collapse, Dexter turned to Gordon.
The elder Luiz immediately understood the consequences.
If the case ever reached open court, his son would spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Without the slightest hesitation, Gordon arranged a fatal traffic accident.
On a stormy night, the grieving couple were struck and killed.
The driver behind the wheel...
...was Silas Sr.
That operation became Silas Sr.’s final job before disappearing into the swamps.
Perhaps because he’d grown wary after years of bloodshed, he secretly copied everything.
Audio recordings.
Vehicle dispatch records.
Wire transfer logs.
Every piece of evidence was hidden away as insurance, meant to protect Chainsaw if Gordon ever decided to eliminate him.
Ironically, Chainsaw’s capture by Crescent Security had delivered that insurance policy directly into Luca’s hands.
Rico closed the ledger.
"Once this evidence reaches the federal prosecutors, Gordon and Dexter won’t be walking free again."
He paused.
"Silas Sr. won’t escape punishment either."
Luca nodded quietly.
"A parent’s love can make even the hardest man surrender."
His eyes lingered briefly on the files.
"The moment his son’s life was threatened, he gave up everything."
After a short silence, he looked at Rico.
"Once your team brings Silas Sr. into New Orleans, transfer him, along with every piece of evidence, directly to the federal prosecutors."
"Understood, Boss."
Rico saluted sharply.
---
With everything arranged, Luca climbed into his Range Rover and headed back toward Greenland Garden Villas.
As the estate came into view, something immediately caught his attention.
Three luxury sedans were parked neatly along the private driveway.
Each vehicle was surrounded by suited bodyguards standing perfectly still.
His eyes narrowed.
Those weren’t Crescent operatives.
If they weren’t his men...
They could only belong to the Luiz family or one of their allies.
Stepping out of the SUV, he walked toward the villa, his expression growing colder with every step.
Before he even reached the entrance, an angry voice thundered from inside.
"Vivienne! Has your pride grown so much that you no longer respect your own elders?"
"I am your uncle!"
"How dare you speak to me like this!"
A loud bang echoed through the house as someone slammed a palm onto the glass coffee table.
Then came Vivienne’s icy laugh.
"Elders?"
"Heh..."
"I don’t have a single elder in this city."
"If David hadn’t come with you today, none of you would have made it past the front gate."
She folded her arms, her crimson eyes overflowing with contempt.
"Stop pretending to be family, Uncle Arthur."
"The San Fierro branch owes the New Orleans branch absolutely nothing."
"And let me make something perfectly clear."
"My personal life has nothing to do with this family."
"Even my stepmother, Valerie, has never tried to dictate my choices."
"So who exactly do you think you are?"
"Your stepmother?" another woman scoffed.
Aunt Beatrice looked utterly disgusted.
"That poor country woman?"
"She was so ordinary. I’ll never understand what your father saw in her. Marrying someone like that was a stain on the Day family."
As a child, Vivienne might have swallowed those insults.
Not anymore.
The moment Valerie and her late father were dragged into the conversation, the last trace of restraint vanished.
"Get out."
Her voice was terrifyingly cold.
"All of you."
"Leave my house."
Then she turned toward David.
"And you..."
"If you ever bring these parasites here again..."
"...don’t expect this door to open for you."
David lowered his head without saying a word.
"Vivienne!" Beatrice shrieked.
"You’ve gone too far!"
"I’ll discipline you myself on behalf of your late father!"
She stormed forward, raising her hand.
Before it could come down...
A powerful hand seized her wrist.
CRACK!
The sharp sound of a joint dislocating echoed through the living room.
"AAAAAHHH!"
She screamed as her wrist bent unnaturally, staggering backward while clutching her arm.
Luca stood between her and Vivienne, his expression colder than winter frost.
"Vivienne!" Arthur roared, his face red with rage.
"Look at the uncultured thug you’ve brought home!"
"How dare an outsider attack his elders!"
Before Vivienne could respond, Luca looked at the shrieking woman with open contempt.
"Elders?"
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"You honestly believe parasites like you deserve that title?"
With a casual flick of his hand, he sent Beatrice stumbling several more steps backward.
Then his gaze settled on Arthur.
"So..."
"You’re Arthur Day."
"The head of the New Orleans branch."
He took one slow step forward.
"If you’ve already decided to become Gordon Luiz’s obedient lapdog..."
"...why bother wearing an expensive tie?"
His eyes swept slowly over Arthur’s neck.
"I think a leather collar would suit you much better."
