Chapter 30 - 28: Expert of the Flowing Water Sect

Even though he’d just fought Zhou Hao, Zhang Ji still had plenty of stamina.

For him, that last fight was a warm-up at best.

At his peak, his stamina was far beyond what any ordinary person could imagine.

"CRACK~!"

With a sharp crack, Zhang Ji took the initiative, throwing the first punch at Water Monster.

Water Monster fell into a fighting stance, clenched his fist, and lunged at Zhang Ji.

"BANG BANG~BZZ~CLANG!"

"CLANG CLANG CLANG~!"

Zhang Ji’s fists landed on Water Monster’s gray metal armor, producing dull, metallic thuds. When Zhang Ji blocked Water Monster’s attacks, it sounded like vibrating metal. The two of them were like a pair of iron men clashing.

"Such immense strength!"

After exchanging several blows, the expression under Water Monster’s mask was one of utter astonishment.

’Zhang Ji isn’t wearing any kind of exoskeleton. He’s clashing with me head-on using pure physical strength.’

’With this kind of power, he’d be a top contender in any international fighting competition.’

’I have to admit, there are a lot of masters in this place.’

As Zhang Ji fought Water Monster, he also sensed something different about his opponent’s fighting style.

The moves were broad and sweeping, yet refined and simple. Almost all of them were lethal killing blows, reminiscent of military combat techniques.

"CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG CLANG~! BANG~!"

Zhang Ji spotted an opening, landing a flurry of punches on his opponent’s chest before finishing with a heavy kick that sent him flying.

「Meanwhile.」

Zhou Hao and Black Hawk had also begun to fight.

As Black Hawk got back to his feet, he saw Zhou Hao closing in fast. He didn’t dare engage in close combat. ’My skills are only at an amateur Fifth Rank level. Fighting a master like him up close is a death wish.’

"RAT-A-TAT-TAT~!"

Muzzle flashes erupted as bullets flew from the gun.

Zhou Hao showed no intention of dodging the gun. His hands swept through the air, catching every single bullet.

"Fuck!"

Black Hawk’s face was a mask of disbelief.

But Zhou Hao had already closed the distance.

"BZZZZZ~!"

The sound of buzzing bees erupted. Zhou Hao immediately pulled back the punch he was about to throw, rolled on the ground, and darted toward the production machinery to his side.

The moment he moved, a swarm of drones opened fire.

"RAT-A-TAT-TAT-TAT-TAT~!"

Black Hawk breathed a sigh of relief. "Bee, I’ll treat you to some male models for this."

"I’d rather play with that big thing of yours," Bee shot back shamelessly over the comms channel. "Just let me have a go with it."

Pinned down by suppressive fire, Zhou Hao didn’t dare expose himself.

He wasn’t like Zhang Ji, a practitioner of Horizontal Martial Arts Training who could take bullets without getting hurt.

With that many bullets flying, even he would be wounded.

Of course, it wouldn’t be fatal.

Given his muscle density, bullets of this caliber would get lodged in the outer muscle layer at worst; they wouldn’t reach his bones.

Zhang Ji was also getting a share of the gunfire.

But he simply ignored the bullets spitting from the few drones.

He only had to shield his eyes. Hits anywhere else on his body didn’t even feel like an itch.

"Is he made of iron?" Bee grumbled.

Zhang Ji paid the drones no mind and charged directly at Water Monster, whom he’d just kicked away, ready to press his attack.

Water Monster planted a hand on the ground to spring back up, immediately lashing out with a kick at Zhang Ji.

Zhang Ji raised his forearm to block. He absorbed the immense force completely, storing it in his muscles. His body dipped slightly, and in the next moment, he used the momentum to charge forward.

"BANG~!"

Water Monster lost his center of gravity and was sent flying.

’His style is all broad, sweeping movements, seeking a one-hit kill and holding nothing back. And he uses his legs too often. The openings are glaring.’

’This guy’s military combat style is only good for beating up weaker opponents. Against a master of the same level, it’s completely inadequate. Even someone like me, who isn’t a master of technique, can completely overwhelm him.’

Zhang Ji moved to pursue, but several drones swarmed in, their constant strafing obscuring his vision.

"Black Hawk, with me!" Water Monster shouted over the comms.

"SWOOSH SWOOSH SWOOSH~!"

Zhou Hao threw several of the bullets he’d caught, instantly knocking the incoming drones out of the air.

Zhang Ji and Zhou Hao regrouped, only to see Water Monster and Black Hawk running back into the automated production workshop they had emerged from.

"After them!"

Zhou Hao made the decision instantly.

And so, Zhang Ji and Zhou Hao charged after them.

When the two of them entered, they saw Water Monster standing by the edge of a pool of Traceless Liquid, waiting quietly.

"You can’t escape," Zhou Hao said. "Surrender peacefully and tell us who you’re working for. Maybe you’ll get to live out your golden years in prison. The prisons these days are pretty humane; they won’t make things too hard on you."

"The Five Elements Sect is truly as strong as they say," Water Monster mused.

"You don’t say," Zhou Hao retorted.

"You must be big shots in the Five Elements Sect," Water Monster said. "It’s a shame. We’ll have to offend another major power this time. I guess we won’t be able to take any more jobs in the Eastern Extreme Country after this!"

As he spoke, he began to walk toward Zhang Ji and Zhou Hao.

"BUBBLE BUBBLE BUBBLE BUBBLE~!"

Bubbles began to rise rapidly from the pool of liquid.

Zhang Ji’s attention was drawn to it, and in the next instant, his expression changed dramatically.

"Go!"

The moment the word ’Go!’ left his lips, Zhou Hao reacted as well. The two of them retreated faster than they had advanced.

But at that very moment, a massive amount of the Traceless Liquid surged up from the vast pool and came crashing down on Zhang Ji and Zhou Hao.

Water Monster thrust his palms forward and bellowed, "Waterfall Drop!"

"RUMBLE~!"

The Traceless Liquid had transformed into a substance as dense and sharp as knives, feeling like a thousand cuts as it landed on them.
