"Let’s just head over there," Darlus pitched.

"Yes, that makes sense," Morden responded.

With that said the two of them headed towards the exit where they were currently staying, got out, and then approached the reception where Brenda’s station was.

While they got close enough to see into the reception itself, Morden noticed Brenda peeping into their path, and then she looked away quickly.

’Why has she always been jittery whenever anything involves this guy?’

The first time was when she took to the door, and then when she came to report to them, and then now.

’This guy must have done something,’

At this point, they had actually arrived at the reception area again, and now Brenda and Darlus were not too far away from each other.

Darlus looked at her and smiled while Brenda hurriedly smiled back before looking away in fear. She and Morden, on the other hand, just shared a curt nod before the two proceeded.

Since he had just arrived there that night, Morden knew there was nowhere there, so he could only walk behind Darlus, who was currently confidently leading the way.

"Can you guess why she called us?" Darlus spoke in a low voice as they got closer to the office.

"I don’t know, maybe she wants to give us something important like a badge or a uniform," Morden guessed.

"Ohhh, really, that would be so cool. I have been here for so long, and they just abandoned me in there, and you got here tonight, and we are getting a uniform, what’s that if not Nepotism"

Morden wanted to speak to refute what Darlus had just said, but he couldn’t find an explanation. If his guess was actually right, then it’s really weird.

"Hey, we are here; act cool," Darlus said while showing a weird broad smile.

"Come in," Mona’s voice sounded from the inside just as Darlus was about to knock.

The two shared one last look at each other before opening the door to enter the room.

The moment they entered, Morden and Darlus immediately felt a shiver run down their spine when they looked around the room.

Before even checking around, one thing was already extremely obvious and pressing in the two’s minds.

The room was too dark.

There was barely any light coming from anywhere except the small lamp light that was placed on Mona’s table, and that was just enough to illuminate the table and a part of Mona’s face.

"Stop looking around and move closer," Mona suddenly spoke, forcing their attention back to her.

"Since you guys have been accepted as slaves, it is time to do some slave duty," Mona said with a soft smile that appeared strangely terrifying under that lighting.

"Slave duty?" the two muttered.

"Yes, slave duty, but specifically pick-up duty."

"There’s a third slave that someone found outside the Flowing River City; she is also supposed to report tonight, but she hasn’t, so you two have been tasked to find her and bring her in."

"Third slave?" Morden muttered.

"A ’she’?" Darlus muttered.

"Note, you aren’t sent on this mission because we think you’re capable or something like that, but because you three are people the Watchmen are wary of, so it’s better if you guys stick together."

"Which means you need to bond, and what’s the best way to bond other than a nice pickup?"

Despite her last statement being something that was supposed to sound nice, Morden and Darlus were sure there was something else underlying, and thus Morden raised his hand to ask a question.

"What again, kid, must you ask questions every single time?" Mona said with frustration.

"I am sorry, miss, I was just wondering why she needs someone to pick her up. I don’t think finding your way to the Bearer’s organization is difficult at all, especially not in this city," Morden said.

The duo could observe a sense of relief coming over Mona just after she heard Morden’s question, but she quickly hid it and opened her mouth to answer.

"I am not sure since I haven’t actually met the girl, but from the information I got, it was said that she has some difficulties in one physical aspect; I am not just sure which."

’Difficulties, I wonder what it is?’

"If there are no more questions, you guys can head over to Brenda to get whatever you will need," Mona said with a dismissive tone.

But instead of actually turning around to leave, Mona noticed Morden raising his hand again.

"What is it again?" she asked.

"How do we know who we are supposed to pick up and where exactly we are supposed to pick her up?" Morden asked.

"Tsk,"

"Haven’t I told you, every other thing will be handled by Brenda?"

"Kid, don’t push me; you are making me think, killing you off would be a much easier situation to answer."

"Now get out of here and let me have some peace and quiet."

Not wanting to push further, Morden smiled in response and just turned around to leave. Darlus, on the other hand, seemed slightly hesitant to leave, and he only started moving after a harsh drag by Morden.

"Isn’t Lady Mona really Cool," Darlus said with eyes of admiration.

In response to that, Morden just stared at him with one raised eyebrow before shaking his head while smiling.

"That’s not how you react to your teacher," Darlus shouted.

The two of them arrived back at the receptionist, and they noticed Brenda already waiting for them with two folded coats and a file.

"I was ordered you to give these to you," she said while handing all three things to Morden after ignoring Darlus’s outstretched hands.

Morden didn’t think much of it and just handed one of the coats to Darlus and then opened the file to see what was written inside.
