Chapter 135: Maomao
On the narrow field path, Zhang Wenda and the others stared at Hu Maomao, who was floating in midair, and watched as she took off her tinfoil hat.
Zhang Wenda didn’t know what Hu Maomao had just said, but he instinctively sensed danger from her now that the hat was off.
’What should I do? Fight or retreat? I’ve never seen her in action, so I have no way to gauge her strength!’ Zhang Wenda thought, his heart pounding with anxiety as he saw they were caught in a pincer attack.
Just then, Zhang Wenda suddenly saw Auntie and Song Jianguo staring at him in surprise.
It was only then that Zhang Wenda finally realized the thoughts he just had were being brazenly projected from the center of his forehead for all to see!
"This is bad! It’s Brain Control! We can’t hide any of our thoughts."
Hearing the voice emanate from Auntie’s forehead as well, Zhang Wenda immediately understood what was happening. The moment Hu Maomao took off her hat, her power had activated!
Since he couldn’t hide his thoughts, Zhang Wenda decided not to even try. He brandished his sickle and charged straight at her.
"Go! Take down Hu Maomao first!"
Zhang Wenda was fast, but Hu Maomao was faster. Just as he closed to within three meters of her, Hu Maomao, whose eyes had turned completely white, raised both her hands toward him.
A cold, girlish voice rang out in the air. "Organized Entanglement Technique!"
As some unseen force spread through the air, the charging Zhang Wenda was suddenly tripped and sent flying.
When Zhang Wenda scrambled back to his feet, he felt that everything around him was different.
It was just a tree, but Zhang Wenda could feel someone behind it, ready to ambush him at any moment.
Zhang Wenda suddenly felt something hurtling toward the back of his head. He dove forward and whipped around, but there was nothing behind him.
It wasn’t just behind him. In every blind spot, it seemed as if someone was hiding behind every tree, all of them coordinating to kill him.
Hu Maomao couldn’t have suddenly gathered so many helpers in such a short time. This was obviously the result of the ability she had just used.
He didn’t know whether this feeling was real or fake, and for a moment, he hesitated.
"What’s that psycho freaking out about now?" Song Jianguo thought as she watched the paranoid Zhang Wenda in the distance. The words floated out from her forehead, completely unguarded.
Zhang Wenda glared at Song Jianguo in the distance. "Don’t just stand there! Help me! Attack Hu Maomao from range!"
Just as Song Jianguo heard this and went to raise her spear, a swarm of bats descended from the sky, blocking her and Auntie. There was no way for them to help Zhang Wenda. He now had to face Hu Maomao alone.
’What in the world is this ability? Is it one of Hu Maomao’s New Ideologies? Or Qi Gong? Is there a Qi Gong technique like this?’ Zhang Wenda wondered, scanning his perilous surroundings.
Seeing his thoughts once again spill from his forehead, Zhang Wenda instantly cleared his mind and charged at Hu Maomao again.
But halfway through his charge, Zhang Wenda felt another chill on the back of his head. He instinctively dodged to the left and glanced behind him, but again, there was nothing there.
"What the hell is this?!" The moment Zhang Wenda turned to look back, the levitating Hu Maomao swooped to his side and raised one hand again.
"Not again!" As Zhang Wenda activated the power of his Red Core, the sickle in his right hand snapped open, and he swung it directly at Hu Maomao’s face.
The feeling of an attack from his left rear followed him like a shadow, but this time, Zhang Wenda decided to ignore it. He gambled that the sensation was just an illusion created by Hu Maomao.
But the very moment he ignored it, excruciating pain erupted from the left side of his face as an unknown force tore off his ear and half the skin from his cheek.
Yet even after paying such a grievous price, Zhang Wenda’s attack failed. His razor-sharp sickle stopped just two inches from Hu Maomao’s head, easily blocked by her single hand.
Her palm never made contact with Zhang Wenda’s sickle, which could slice through metal as if it were mud. A small gap always remained between them.
With a spray of blood, Zhang Wenda blurred into an afterimage and shot away from Hu Maomao. He clutched the wound on his face with a trembling hand, but his fumbling touch only mangled the raw flesh further.
"It’s useless. You can’t escape it," Hu Maomao said, looking down on Zhang Wenda. "If the Tissue Entanglement Technique isn’t dispelled, your life is over."
"Heh. You think it’s that absurd? How could I possibly believe that?" Even in this situation, Zhang Wenda hadn’t given up. He was trying to figure out how to deal with her.
"I’ll give you one chance. Take that child back to Cavalry Fortress, and I can act as if this never happened."
Hearing this, Zhang Wenda’s heart stirred. He nodded vigorously and said, "Alright! You have a deal!"
That was what he said, but his true thoughts leaked directly from his forehead. "Pretend to agree, then plot an escape."
After reading this, Hu Maomao shook her head in disappointment. "What a pity. In that case, I have no choice but to kill you."
Hu Maomao raised both hands again and began to channel her power toward Zhang Wenda. Before he could understand what was happening, blood started trickling from his nostrils. "What is this bizarre power now!"
Zhang Wenda tried to get away, but as he ran, he was tripped by something again. By the time he scrambled up, Hu Maomao was already floating swiftly toward him.
Staring at the approaching Hu Maomao, Zhang Wenda was at a complete loss.
He truly hadn’t expected that Hu Maomao, who had always kept her true strength hidden, would be so incredibly powerful in a fight.
Seeing the situation had become completely hopeless, Zhang Wenda had no choice but to play his final trump card: the Wai Mouse.
This time, however, his luck was not so good. The red-skinned mouse, which couldn’t distinguish between friend and foe, had only just appeared when it shrieked and latched onto Zhang Wenda’s arm, gnawing at it madly.
"You crazy rat! Go attack the enemy! What are you doing attacking me?!" Zhang Wenda reached out to pull it off, but his hand was impaled clean through by the bone spikes on the Wai Mouse’s back.
The pain from his face and the back of his hand sent Zhang Wenda into a rage. He began hacking wildly at the Wai Mouse with his sickle. "You moron! Fuck you to hell!"
Watching Zhang Wenda’s bizarre behavior, even the overly cautious Hu Maomao was startled and drifted a little further away.
