Instant Death

One story is I have to die here!

'... move to diagnostic mode. Determined as Situation EX. Disconnect the Personality Unit and the Virtual Human Body. Wake up.'

Ayaka Shinozaki woke up when she heard such a voice.

I was in a strange position for a long time.

My hands and feet are caught in something, and my body is diagonal.

My body doesn't move well, it's creepy. It wasn't like I wouldn't move, but it felt like I was manipulating something somewhere far away.

After several attempts and errors, Ayaka got the hang of it. There's a time difference between thinking about moving your body and actually moving it. The point is, you just have to move it slowly and reliably.

Ayanka returned the involved limbs and managed to wake up her torso and look around.

The seats are sloppy. This should be on the tourist bus, but Ayaka took some time to recognize it that way. Because the back half of the bus was gone and the floor was diagonal.

The passage was wet with blood. Someone is down on the entrance and exit side, looking up a little bit. He was a boy student out of uniform, lying in a narrow passage.

There is a large hole in the belly of the male student. He must be dead. You can't live with such a big injury.

Ayaka next checked her body. I'm bloody myself, and I have a big hole in my chest. He said he was in the same condition as a boy student, but somehow he lived.

Ayanka remembered.

I was on a school trip. The bus suddenly moved to the plain, revealing a woman named Sage, and her classmates left themselves and went somewhere.

I don't know why. But Ayaka was terribly calm.

I was just pale and aware of the status quo.

"Hello, have you been able to grasp the situation?

"Who?"

That's the voice I heard earlier. It was echoing directly into Ayanka's head.

'I am a diagnostic unit. And you're a personality unit. It embodies Akaka Shinozaki. "

"I don't know why."

Ayanka had a flat voice. I don't know for sure. But I didn't think anything of it.

'You see confusion in your memory. Let's sort this out first. During our school trip, we were suddenly killed by mysterious creatures.'

Ayanka remembered. He broke through the ceiling and got pierced in the chest by something sharp.

There's a dragon over there. My classmate who ran away said that. Then I guess that was a dragon attack.

'To be precise, it would mean that humans would have suffered death damage, so they would have recreated the state of death. Because there is no such thing as death to you as a human being.'

That being said, Ayaka confirmed an empty hole in her chest. At first glance, that's a painful wound. Blood is flooded, meat is wandering, and organs are exposed. But when they really asked me if that was what was going on in the human body, it seemed suspicious.

Slowly insert your right hand into the wound to check the inside. I didn't feel anything.

'We are man-made people. It's a imitation of life, created by combining inorganic and organic matter.'

I guess that's a fact of shock. But my emotions didn't move. I just wondered if it was.

"So. Why did you come out?

'Yes. Originally, if human beings were in a situation like death, they were supposed to continue to maintain their previous state and wait for recovery. But wireless network communication is not possible, and the surrounding environment is unexpected. Even though it has more endurance than a human being, if it stays that way, we're going to stop functioning.'

"Stopping means dying, right? Wouldn't an artificial human be dying?

'Yes. There is no death as an organism. It is possible to play this body even if it has stopped functioning, as long as it is able to hold the memory information. But that's only if it's recovered to the lab. We decided that it was unlikely that the situation would improve even if we kept waiting. Damage is more than assumed and there are several important organ defects. You won't be able to move any longer. We need to respond as soon as possible, and that's why we contacted you. "

"I mean, I'm the only one who can move this body?

'You're probably right. It's most efficient to manipulate this body through you.'

"You'll just die because you've got a dying injury. Does it make sense to force you to extend your life?

I don't know what I was made for, but if you're going to say it's man-made, you're just going to have to make it new. That's what Ayaka thought now. It didn't seem like everything mattered.

"I don't know what you think, but as a plan implementation unit, you're gonna have trouble getting killed."

I heard another voice. It seems that there are various units, but if each of them has its own personality, Ayaka thinks they are doing a lot of wasted work.

'We have no personality. The Personality Unit is the only one with an algorithm that simulates emotions, and the only one you feel personalized to us is making such an interpretation. In fact, what is happening now is not a conversation. It's local communication through inter-unit protocols.'

"What's the plan?

"It's a project to create the next generation of humanity. We have a third plan. You have a faint reaction to the fact that we are supposed to observe the mimicry of people by individuals who merge organisms and machines and their adaptation to society '.

'It would be the effect of disconnecting the virtual human body. Because emotions are physically, primarily brain influenced.'

I guess it's to dissociate the pain caused by the injury. The ambiguous feeling that her body was somewhere far away was for that reason, and Ayanka felt as if she had left her emotions somewhere too.

'That's it, though. This kind of unnatural situation is a plan implementation unit, don't take it personally.'

'As a medical unit, I think it's the best way. Even if they say it's a natural state, in this case, it's natural to be dead.'

'You can't even fight as you are now, according to the Battle Unit. I'm turning most of my energy to life support, but it's like running water through a leaking monkey at the bottom. I'm gonna do everything I can right now.'

'I've been wondering, do you need a battle unit?

'For now, how about repairing only the virtual human body? In the direction of not seeing a big hole in your chest. "

'It's okay about that. We will mask the visual information so you can look intact from the personality unit'

'Right... because personality units come in the way of activity as they are'

Various sensations resurrected along the way, and Ayaka fell into confusion.

"Hey! If you do, give me a teaser or something!

"Excuse me, how many minutes was the first time?"

'So, what do you say? Are you gonna die like this?

"No way! Because I have to die here!

It was like a lie to be caught in an earlier obsession.

Ayaka confirmed her body. The holes in the chest are back to normal. The uniform remained the same as before, and blood stains and the like were completely gone.

This was a shocking experience inside. If I can do this, I really doubt the authenticity of what I'm seeing.

"I know you guys are in me, and if you're an artificial person, I'm sure you are. So, what am I supposed to do?

But Ayaka decided to lay aside the grand question of whether this world was real or not. Because that would be futile to worry about.

'We need to make up for what we lost. Take in organic matter'

Seeing what the medical unit was trying to say, Ayaka stared at the boy student rolling in front of her.

It's Yuichiro Kiryu. One of the four left on the bus. Did it have eyes similar to Ayanka's, with a big hole in her belly?

"Taking in... this? I'm not kidding! No matter how troubled you are, you eat people!

'Right. I'm not saying I can't. That's not enough in the first place.'

'I'm against taking in humans, too. It would be against the plan'

"How much longer can I move?

'Is it roughly thirty? Because the debate between the units has prolonged.'

"Because eating or taking in humans is out of the question anyway!

Ayaka decided to leave the bus.

Down the diagonal floor and out from the broken rear onto the plain.

Something I don't know about keeps happening, but it would still be this view that seems the strangest.

The bus was supposed to be running through Snow Mountain, but sometime we're in a plain surrounded by spring cheer. I had no idea this was possible.

"I think there were two more. You know what happened?

"What was left on the bus was Takayuan Night Mist and Chika Tanopurachi, wasn't it? At least it doesn't seem like he's dead around here. '

"Isn't there a record or something while I'm dead?

'There's no way a dead human sees or hears anything, is there? All we did was communicate to the lab. "

"What's that stubborn policy?"

'Let's admit there are parts of it that do not work for accommodation. But it's a change of policy. Now, it's our top priority to take whatever we can and somehow return to the lab. "

Look around.

Plains continued everywhere. There is a forest nearby, and far away you can see what looks like a city.

And there was a big reptile-like thing down on the side of the bus. I guess this is the dragon. He killed Kiryu and Ayanka.

The anger rises as I watch. Ayaka approached the dragon and kicked him in the head.

Then the dragon's neck jumped momentously and threaded in a strange direction.

"Huh?"

Ayanka shrugged. I was going to kick him lightly, and I thought he was just going to bounce back on a solid scale.

'As it stands, the limiter is off to force the body to move. Pay attention.'

'The mass of this organism may be enough to repair the lost parts'

"It's better than eating humans."

"... this?

Watch the dragon again.

The epidermis is covered with scales that look sturdy. It seemed like a hassle to find a place to eat.

'It's an organism not in our knowledge, but probably a reptile. It would be like a dinosaur that supposedly existed in the middle ages. I thought it must be a carbon organism.'

Ayaka got a little lost. But I can't think of any other good ideas. We're running out of half an hour.

'As a judgment unit, I'm wondering if I might die as a human being without doing anything extra like this. If you keep the previous records tight, someone will eventually find them'

If the plan and what they do is create man, it will be complete with death. Even if he died here, he said it was a valuable experiment.

Ayanka thinks. I was wondering if I could die here.

There is no reason why I want to die. Ayanka's life has always been full of sails. I was supposed to continue to live my life promised happiness.

I'm only a sophomore in high school. There will be as much work to be done from now on. But can I return my life to nothing in a place I don't understand?

"Plus, I have to die because I'm being used to be good by these guys!

When I thought back about my classmates, my intestines were attacked by a passion that seemed to boil back.

You could have figured out a way to get away with the whole class. Yet they made really cheap and ruthless decisions.

At that point, something like a sense of discrimination against the incompetent had already begun to sprout.

I couldn't forgive that.

Above all, I could not tolerate that there were people who looked down on Akaka Shinozaki.

"What am I supposed to do?

'I'd like to know the composition first, so could you just say a little bit?

Ayaka stabbed the knife into the scale of the dragon.

Lightly pierced, hands dive into raw warm meat. Suitably pulled the meat away, Ayaka carried it into her mouth. A regular girlfriend wouldn't have been able to do this. But I will survive at all costs and remind my classmates. Such comatose emotions had made it possible to behave differently.

The dragon's flesh was sweet. The moment I spoke, I felt a sense of swinging comfort. And he began to be attacked by a strong sense of hunger.

'You don't have a problem. It'll be enough if you eat ten tons or so. "

'I don't know why you eat meat from creatures like this. Well, maybe it's better than eating humans.'

It didn't take Ayanka long enough to eat up most of the dragons.
