Chapter 414 - 427: Class Advisor
Throughout the entire class, the teacher at the front proved that the more she talked, the more mistakes she made.
When class ended, An Ning’s expression hadn’t changed at all. She still had that look—an innocent face that spoke the most infuriating words.
The other students, however, looked a little unsettled.
’A teacher at Beijing University... is this all she’s got?’
After all, the students admitted to this class all had high IQs.
There was no "highest," only "higher."
For a teacher lecturing a group of geniuses, her current skill level was genuinely worrying.
RING RING RING—
The bell to end class rang. The teacher at the front was covered in sweat from her lecture. The perspiration mixed with chalk dust, vividly illustrating the image of being covered in grime.
"Heh... heheh..."
"Is there something I forgot to tell you all? I... Sun Qian... am your class advisor."
"You all know what a class advisor is, right?"
Sun Qian stood at the lectern, feeling the thrill of someone who had just snatched victory from the jaws of defeat. A crazed look entered her eyes.
It was the kind of craziness that screamed, ’Now that I have power, I will make you suffer eternal damnation!’
Sun Qian’s eyes were fixed on An Ning, trying to see fear and regret.
’But why? Why can’t I see anything?!’
’She must be pretending,’ Sun Qian thought. ’She has to be.’
"Time to go! Class is over."
As Sun Qian stared in disbelief, An Ning stretched lazily, stood up, casually grabbed her book, and sauntered out the back door.
Zhou Xiaoshan followed close behind, calling out eagerly, "Master! Wait for your disciple!"
"Hahahahaha!"
Zhou Xiaoshan’s comically shameless antics made many of the students roar with laughter. Following his lead, they began packing up their books and notes. Class was over.
Up at the lectern, Sun Qian was frozen in an awkward position, unsure whether to stay or go.
’Why doesn’t a single one of these students respect me?’
"Professor..."
"Get out!"
A student, somewhat intimidated by Sun Qian’s new title as class advisor, had come over to greet her and perhaps show his support, but he was immediately screamed at and driven away.
The student left with his bag, pouting. ’I’m just here to study,’ he thought. ’It’s not like I really need the teacher for anything.’
With that thought, his mood instantly improved.
Once the classroom was completely empty, Sun Qian grabbed her things and stormed out the door. ’Just you wait!’
Meanwhile, An Ning and Zhou Xiaoshan left Beijing University to go watch the show.
Their mathematics department only had two classes today, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, leaving the entire middle of the day free.
The two took a bus, and after a journey of over an hour, they finally reached their destination.
"We’re finally here!"
"Is this the right address?" An Ning asked.
"Don’t worry, Master," Zhou Xiaoshan immediately replied. "I know Beijing like the back of my hand. I couldn’t get lost even with my eyes closed."
"I used to skip class and just ride the bus around for fun."
An Ning glanced at Zhou Xiaoshan without saying anything, but in her mind, she was already drawing up a series of plans for her cleverest disciple.
’Such talent. It would be a shame to waste it.’
Grinning and leading the way, Zhou Xiaoshan was completely unaware that a miserable life was about to befall him. He skipped and walked ahead by himself.
"Master, it’s just ahead!"
Zhou Xiaoshan pointed to a multi-story building. "That’s where Jiang Dongcheng works now."
"That’s a big crowd. Do you think they’re here?"
An Ning glanced over quickly. "Quick, find a good spot!"
"You got it!"
Using their nimble figures, Zhou Xiaoshan and An Ning secured a high vantage point directly across from the building, allowing them to look down on the unfolding drama.
By now, a crowd had gathered in front of the building. At the very front were several people: one carrying a video camera, one with a still camera, and two holding microphones, asking questions relentlessly.
Thanks to the microphones’ amplification, every question could be heard clearly by everyone present.
"Jiang Dongcheng, what is your opinion on the recent incident where the score of the third-highest scorer in the college entrance exam was swapped?"
Jiang Dongcheng was a man of about forty. With his gold-rimmed glasses, he cut the figure of a refined gentleman—a well-dressed scoundrel, to be sure, but one with an undeniable charm.
But right now, his brow was furrowed. He turned to the reporters with a harsh expression and retorted, "Who sent you? Get out of my way. Don’t keep me from my work."
Jiang Dongcheng wasn’t stupid enough to answer questions at the entrance to his own workplace. He pushed past the people in front of him and tried to head inside.
But for some reason, the crowd of spectators was especially large today—so large that Jiang Dongcheng couldn’t squeeze through at all.
He had barely taken two steps forward before being pushed three steps back.
"Jiang Dongcheng, we’re reporters from the Hualian Newspaper. According to a reliable source, this year’s third-place scorer, student Jiang Xia, is the son of your first wife, Xia Qiushuang. The person who took his place is the son born to your second wife, whose name is also Jiang Xia. Do you have anything to say about that?"
A shocking revelation, dropped right out of the blue.
Trapped by the crowd, Jiang Dongcheng glared at the reporter, his eyes practically shooting daggers. ’How dare he? How dare he ask that in public?’
"Mr. Jiang Dongcheng, there are rumors that your first wife, Xia Qiushuang, died after you pushed her down a flight of stairs. Do you have any comment on this?"
"Mr. Jiang Dongcheng, Ms. Xiao Yan is your second wife. Why is your son with her, Jiang Xia, older than Jiang Xia, your son with your first wife, Xia Qiushuang?"
"Mr. Jiang Dongcheng..."
One sharp, piercing question after another. The secrets Jiang Dongcheng had tried so desperately to bury were being unearthed one by one and exposed under the bright sun.
"Oh my god... is it true?"
"Look at Jiang Dongcheng’s face. It just might be."
"His current son is really named Jiang Xia."
"The names are the same... Tsk tsk tsk, that’s some long-term planning!"
"It can’t be, can it?"
Many of the people in the crowd were Jiang Dongcheng’s colleagues, superiors, and subordinates.
The sound of their whispers grew louder and louder in Jiang Dongcheng’s ears, making the blood rush to his head until the last thread of his sanity finally snapped.
"Get lost! All of you, get lost!"
"You’re doing this on purpose, aren’t you? Did Jiang Xia send you?!"
Jiang Dongcheng’s crazed expression hardened into one of conviction. He pointed to some unknown spot in the crowd and yelled, "Jiang Xia! Jiang Xia! Show yourself! Come out!"
But alas, apart from the probing gazes of the crowd, no one stepped forward.
The reporters continued to press him:
"Did you kill Xia Qiushuang?"
"Did you start plotting to swap the exam placement eighteen years ago?"
"Did you have an extramarital affair and get involved with Xiao Yan before your divorce?"
Watching the drama from her high perch, An Ning clapped her hands in approval.
’So satisfying!’
’A true villain and hypocrite like Jiang Dongcheng deserves to be treated this way.’
’Rip off his mask and leave him with nowhere to run.’
"Let’s go. Time to check on Xiao Yan."
An Ning and Zhou Xiaoshan climbed down from their vantage point and headed toward Xiao Yan’s workplace, which wasn’t far away.
’Jiang Xia’s plan wasn’t limited to just this one move.’
A few minutes after the two of them left, the police—called by Jiang Dongcheng’s workplace—arrived.
Jiang Dongcheng was finally freed from the barrage of questions. The first thing he did upon being rescued was to confront the reporters.
He didn’t just question them; he threatened to call the police to have them arrested.
The reporters held up their press credentials and said, "It is our duty and our right to report in pursuit of the truth. We have a responsibility to let the public know what really happened."
