Chapter 101: Killing the Zombie King (2)

Cain immediately swung toward the Zombie King’s neck.

Flesh Armament gathered around its shoulder in response, but the hardened tissue formed unevenly and lacked the density it had possessed earlier.

Shhk!

Cain’s sword tore straight through it.

Blood sprayed across his face as the Zombie King staggered backward.

Cain paused for the slightest moment.

Since their battle began, the creature had always forced him back whenever they exchanged attacks directly.

Now, for the first time, the Zombie King had been pushed back by him.

Cain’s smile widened, as the Ruin Dragon Force surged higher throughout his body.

Pain immediately followed as the excessive energy tore through muscles that had barely finished recovering, but the Undying God Body reacted at once and began repairing the damage.

Cain rushed forward before the Zombie King could recover.

The Zombie King attacked with both arms.

Cain moved directly between them.

Its right fist struck his shoulder.

Crack!

The joint fractured, but Cain deliberately accepted the blow.

His sword drove straight into the Zombie King’s abdomen.

Shhk!

The blade pierced completely through its body and emerged from the back.

Cain immediately poured Ruin energy through the weapon.

The Zombie King’s entire body trembled as dark gray energy spread throughout the wound.

Its hand reached toward Cain’s face.

Cain immediately ripped the sword free and moved backward before its fingers could close around his head.

The Zombie King stumbled.

The large wound across its abdomen remained completely open.

A faint surge of energy gathered around the injury as its regeneration attempted to activate. Damaged flesh began moving around the wound, only to stop moments later.

Cain watched the energy fade before the wound could close.

The Zombie King lowered its head and stared at its own abdomen.

Something changed in its cloudy eyes.

Cain immediately recognized it.

Fear.

Not the complicated fear of a human, but the instinctive fear of a creature that had finally realized it could die.

The Zombie King suddenly looked toward the north, more precisely toward the western public park direction.

Then it turned around.

Cain’s eyes lit up.

"You want to run away?"

The Zombie King immediately accelerated toward the park.

Cain stared for half a second before his expression changed.

"Oh, hell no. There’s no fucking way I’m letting you run away after all the suffering you put me through."

A sharpened metal rod appeared in his hand.

Ruin Dragon Force immediately flooded through his right arm before gathering around the tip. Cain did not waste Mana covering the entire weapon since he only needed the point to penetrate.

His damaged muscles tightened beneath the strain.

Cain stepped forward and threw.

The rod disappeared from his hand.

Piercing Momentum carried it across the road at terrifying speed.

The Zombie King immediately sensed the danger approaching from behind.

Energy gathered throughout its legs as it attempted to reinforce them before the attack arrived.

However, there was not enough time.

Shhk!

The sharpened rod pierced directly through the back of its right knee.

The leg immediately folded beneath the Zombie King, causing its body to crash heavily onto the pavement.

Cain was already running toward it.

The Zombie King planted both hands against the road and tried to stand, but the metal rod remained stuck through its knee.

Dark gray energy continued spreading from the wound.

The flesh around the damaged joint tried to regenerate, only to blacken and deteriorate as Ruin interfered with the process.

Cain rapidly closed the distance.

The Zombie King turned toward him, then an enormous amount of energy suddenly erupted from its body.

Cain’s expression changed.

’Going all out?’

Whatever remained inside Bottomless Furnace rushed toward the Zombie King’s right arm.

Flesh Armament activated one final time, its forearm thickened as hardened biological armor wrapped around the hand and knuckles.

Energy Reinforcement followed immediately, concentrating nearly all of the creature’s remaining power into that single limb.

Faultline Vision revealed the consequence at once.

He could see that the rest of its body had become almost completely exposed.

Cain understood what it intended.

One final attack.

The Zombie King threw a punch.

Cain did not block, he pushed his speed as fast as possible and shifted past the incoming fist.

The armored knuckles missed his head by only a few centimeters, but the force surrounding the strike was still enough to tear open the skin across his cheek.

Cain ignored the pain and continued forward.

His sword moved toward the Zombie King’s neck.

The creature attempted to shift its remaining reinforcement upward, but it was too slow.

Cain forced even more Ruin Dragon Force through his right arm.

The muscles beneath his skin immediately began tearing from the pressure. Blood appeared beneath the surface, only for the Undying God Body to begin reconstructing the damaged tissue almost instantly.

Then he swung.

Shhk!

The blade entered the Zombie King’s neck.

Its flesh hardened instinctively around the wound, slowing the blade before it could pass completely through.

Cain gritted his teeth.

"Just die, you little rat!"

Ruin energy erupted through the blade.

The weakened flesh surrounding the wound immediately deteriorated, destroying what little resistance remained.

Cain pushed harder and finally, the sword continued through.

Shhk!

The blade swept completely across the Zombie King’s neck.

Its head separated from its body.

For a brief moment, everything became silent.

The severed head struck the road first, its cloudy eyes remained open as it rolled several times across the pavement before finally stopping.

The headless body stayed on one knee for another second.

Then it collapsed with a thud.

Cain remained standing beside the corpse.

Dark gray energy still covered his sword while his chest rose heavily with every breath.

Blood dripped from his face and arms as the exhaustion he had been suppressing throughout the entire battle finally began catching up with him.

He stared at the motionless body for a moment.

The Zombie King was finally dead.

At the exact moment its corpse touched the ground, a rapid series of familiar sounds suddenly exploded inside Cain’s mind.

Ding!

Ding!

Ding!

Cain’s exhausted eyes widened as numerous System notifications began appearing in front of him.
