Chapter 74: A Strong Armored Rhino
Sonya’s eyes widened.
Cain did not pause as the third rod was already leaving his hand.
The Level 33 wolf had started charging. Its muscles tightened beneath the fur as it rushed toward him.
The projectile met it directly.
Boom!
The front half of its head disappeared.
Its body continued forward from momentum before crashing onto the road and sliding several meters.
Less than two seconds had passed, yet three 1st Echelon wolves were dead.
The last one reacted differently.
Perhaps its higher Level sharpened its instincts enough for it to understand what was coming.
Cain released the fourth rod.
The Level 40 wolf suddenly pushed from the ground, its body twisted sideways.
The projectile missed its skull by a narrow distance.
Though, not completely as a portion of its right ear disappeared as the rod tore past.
Bang!
The metal projectile pierced the wall of the building behind it.
The wolf landed, then it looked at Cain with a furious expression.
"GRRRRR!"
Cain nodded with a smile.
"Not bad."
The wolf launched itself forward.
Cain unsheathed his sword. Dark gray energy immediately covered the blade.
The enormous animal crossed the distance with impressive speed.
It opened its jaw wide.
Cain stepped forward in response.
The wolf’s head lowered toward his throat.
Cain’s sword only moved once before appearing on the opposite side.
Shhk!
The wolf landed behind him.
For a moment, its body remained upright. Then its head separated from the neck and rolled across the road.
The corpse collapsed on the road.
Notifications immediately began filling Cain’s vision.
[Ding! You have killed the Level 40 1st Echelon Wolf.]

[Ding! You have obtained Strength +2, Agility +4, and Sense +1.]
...
More notifications from the final wolf followed.
Cain ignored the System Point rewards for now as his attention remained on the bonus Stats.
The numbers were still good.
However, they were noticeably smaller than what he had received from several earlier high-Level opponents.
Cain already had an idea why, guessing that the stronger he had become, the smaller the reward for killing enemies around the same level.
The System appeared to judge more than the difference in Level.
Cain’s actual combat strength had changed tremendously after obtaining the Undying God Body.
Enemies that would once have been dangerous to him could now be killed without much difficulty.
It made sense that the bonus Stats were slowly decreasing.
If Cain continued farming ordinary 1st Echelon creatures, there would eventually come a point where the rewards became negligible.
He opened his status.
[Stats]: Strength: 160 (+165) / Agility: 179 (+143) / Physique: 96 (+296) / Sense: 79 (+5) / Mana: 260 / Magic: 160
Cain stared at the numbers.
The increase from Undying God Body still looked ridiculous every time he saw it.
His physical stats had already reached a point where an ordinary 1st Echelon creature could hardly pressure him.
Cain closed the panel with a satisfied smile.
He approached the four wolf corpses and removed their Cores.
None contained anything dangerous.
Unlike zombie Cores, evolved animal Cores did not automatically carry contamination, so Cain simply stored them inside his Inventory.
Sonya finally approached.
She looked at the headless wolves before staring at Cain.
"You killed four of them in seconds."
Cain shrugged.
"They weren’t that strong."
Sonya stopped beside him and wrapped both hands around his arm.
Her body pressed against his side.
"You’re ridiculously strong."
Cain chuckled, "I know."
She giggled and rested her head against his shoulder.
Cain sighed internally.
’I really hope bringing her along doesn’t give me a headache.’
He waited briefly to see whether any loot appeared.
However, nothing appeared.
Not even a single Orb or Scroll.
Cain clicked his tongue.
"Unlucky."
He had received plenty of System Points and Stats, but equipment remained valuable.
Especially now that his current sword had accumulated damage from repeated battles against increasingly powerful enemies.
Cain eventually turned away.
"Come on."
Sonya naturally climbed onto his back again.
Cain placed one hand beneath her to support her weight.
The familiar softness returned against his back.
Sonya noticed the slight change in his expression.
Her lips curved upward.
Cain ignored her and continued toward the zoo.
Fortunately, another powerful presence appeared within his Sense before Sonya could start teasing him again.
Cain immediately changed direction.
This one was alone.
However, he could feel that it was stronger than the wolves.
He crossed two more streets before seeing the creature ahead.
An enormous rhinoceros stood in the middle of the road.
Its body had grown beyond its natural size.
The hide covering its shoulders and sides possessed a strange metallic sheen, almost as though layers of armor had fused directly with its skin.
Its horn was even stranger.
The dark gray surface reflected the sunlight.
[1st Echelon Armored Rhino | Level 43]
"Stay back." Cain said as he lowered Sonya.
She nodded and immediately moved toward the wall of a nearby building.
Cain retrieved another metal rod.
Ruin Dragon Force gathered around his body.
The sharpened projectile darkened beneath the destructive energy.
The rhino lifted its head.
Its front hoof scraped against the pavement.
Cain pulled his arm backward.
The Rhino immediately charged forward.
Boom!
Its enormous body accelerated far faster than something of that size should have been capable of moving.
Cain then threw the metal rod in his hand.
The rod crossed the distance instantly.
Instead of aiming for the eye, Cain targeted the center of its head.
The metal projectile struck the horn.
Crack!
Cain’s eyebrows rose.
The rod shattered.
Fragments scattered through the air.
However, the rhino did not even slow down.
"Oh?" Cain raised an eyebrow before unsheathing his sword.
This time, he did not move aside as he charged forward out of curiosity in knowing its power.
The rhino lowered its head.
Cain poured Ruin energy into the blade and swung.
Clang!
The impact exploded through the street.
Cain’s arm was pushed backward with one foot slid across the pavement.
