Chapter 109: Life Overflow
[You have obtained Sacred Life Body.]
[Sacred Life Body — SSS-rank Talent]
[Transforms the user’s body into an exceptionally pure vessel of Life energy. Greatly increases affinity with Life and Healing Mana, healing effectiveness, Mana recovery, vitality, and resistance to poison, disease, corruption, and other effects that damage life force.]
[Healing Skills consume considerably less Mana, while excess healing energy can remain within a target for a short period and continue repairing injuries.]
Evelyne slowly opened her eyes.
A faint pale-green glow lingered within her golden-yellow pupils before fading away.
She turned her attention to the notification in front of her, and her gaze stopped on the rank.
"SSS-rank..."
For a moment, she simply stared at the screen, then she read it again.
Her eyes widened as the meaning finally settled in.
"It really is an SSS-rank Talent."
Cain smiled faintly at her reaction.
"Looks like the Scroll treated you well."
"More than well."
The excitement in Evelyne’s voice was difficult to hide.
She had already experienced how enormous the difference between Talent ranks could be. Saintly Restoration alone had completely changed her healing ability after evolving to SS-rank.
Now she had obtained something even higher.
Only after the initial excitement faded slightly did Evelyne begin noticing the deeper changes within her body.
The exhaustion left behind from maintaining Life Link during the earlier battle had nearly disappeared.
A warm vitality filled her instead.
It spread through her flesh with every heartbeat, leaving her body unusually refreshed despite everything she had gone through today.
Evelyne raised one hand.
Pale-green Healing Mana gathered around her fingers almost immediately.
Her expression changed.
She dispersed it, waited for a moment, then gathered it again.
The response was just as fast.
"It feels different."
Cain stepped closer.
"How?"
Evelyne slowly moved her fingers while the pale-green Mana followed without losing its shape.
"Controlling Healing Mana feels much easier."
She paused for a moment before finding a better way to describe it.
"Before, I still needed to deliberately guide it, especially whenever I used more Mana. Now it almost responds on its own."
Cain nodded thoughtfully.
That made sense as the Sacred Life Body was not simply increasing the strength of her healing.
It was transforming Evelyne’s entire body into something naturally compatible with Life energy.
The difference could already be seen in how smoothly Mana circulated through her.
Evelyne looked at the Talent description before turning the panel toward Cain.
"Here. take a look."
[Sacred Life Body — SSS-rank Talent]
[Transforms the user’s body...]
Cain carefully read through the description, his expression gradually became more interested.
"This suits you extremely well."
Evelyne smiled.
"I thought so too."
Cain continued examining the Talent.
The reduced Mana consumption alone was extremely useful for someone like Evelyne.
Her healing ability was already powerful, but every Skill ultimately relied on her Mana reserve.
Life Link became more demanding whenever she maintained several connections, while Saint’s Sanctuary consumed even more energy over time.
The Sacred Life Body directly reduced that weakness.
The improvement to Mana recovery made the effect even better.
Cain looked back at Evelyne.
"Once your Mana grows higher, you’ll be able to keep everyone alive for much longer."
Evelyne’s smile became a little more satisfied.
"That’s the plan."
Before Cain could continue, her expression suddenly changed.
The pale-green light around her fingers flickered.
Evelyne placed one hand against her chest.
Cain immediately noticed.
"What happened?"
"I’m not sure."
She noticed that the Life energy inside her body had suddenly begun gathering around her heart before flowing outward again.
The warm current passed through her Mana pathways and seemed to resonate with the Healing abilities already engraved within her.
A new notification appeared.
[Sacred Life Body has resonated with the user’s existing Healing abilities.]
[A new skill has been awakened.]
Evelyne raised an eyebrow.
"I got another skill?"
Cain’s interest immediately rose and asked, "From the Talent?"
"It seems so."
Evelyne focused on the new information.
[Life Overflow]
[Temporarily releases the enormous Life energy contained within the Sacred Life Body.]
[Greatly increases the power, range, and speed of all Healing Skills while continuously restoring the user’s Mana and vitality.]
[During Life Overflow, excess Life energy naturally spreads to nearby allies and accelerates their regeneration.]
Evelyne remained silent for several seconds.
The Skill was clearly powerful even at a glance.
She allowed Cain to see it as well.
His expression became noticeably more serious as he read through the description.
"This is extremely useful."
Evelyne nodded.
Life Overflow strengthened nearly everything she already possessed.
If combined with Life Link, she could send stronger healing across a greater distance and respond to injuries much faster.
Saint’s Sanctuary would benefit even more.
The Mana restoration provided by Life Overflow would allow her to maintain her strongest healing abilities for considerably longer, while the excess Life energy spreading from her body would help nearby allies even without her directly targeting them.
Cain glanced at her.
"If you had this during the Zombie King battle, you probably wouldn’t have gotten exhausted so quickly."
"I was thinking the exact same thing." She replied with a chuckle.
Evelyne remembered the amount of Mana she had spent maintaining Life Link on him.
Toward the end of the battle, she had already needed to carefully manage every bit of energy she used.
With Life Overflow, the situation would have been completely different.
She looked at her hands with a thoughtful expression.
"I guess I’ll test it later."
Cain raised an eyebrow.
"You don’t want to try it now?"
"Not yet."
Evelyne shook her head.
"I don’t know how much life energy it consumes or how long I can maintain it. We still have things to do now."
Cain considered it briefly before nodding.
"Fair enough."
There was little reason to waste a powerful Skill simply to satisfy their curiosity when they still intended to investigate the spatial crack afterward.
Cain looked at Evelyne again.
Sacred Life Body alone had already exceeded his expectations.
Life Overflow made the result even better.
Evelyne had started the apocalypse with nothing more than a D-rank Healing Talent.
Now she possessed Saintly Restoration at SS-rank, Sacred Life Body at SSS-rank, and several powerful Healing Skills that complemented each other.
The difference was enormous.
"At this rate, killing someone near you is going to become extremely difficult."
Evelyne’s lips curved upward.
"That sounds much better than being useless."
Cain immediately understood what she meant.
Not long ago, Doctor Owen’s S-rank Healing Talent had made Evelyne painfully aware of how weak her original D-rank Talent was.
Now, that comparison hardly mattered anymore.
"You were never useless."
Evelyne looked at him.
Cain continued before she could respond.
"You were just too weak."
Her expression immediately flattened.
"...You really don’t know how to comfort someone."
Cain chuckled lightly in response.
Evelyne shook her head helplessly.
Her attention then shifted toward the Orange Orb still resting in her other hand.
The excitement that had calmed down began returning.
"If the Scroll already gave me all of this..."
Cain followed her gaze.
"Quickly open it."
Evelyne tightened her fingers around the Orb.
"Hopefully this one suits me too."
Crack!
Orange light burst outward and illuminated the alley.
The Orb disappeared within the glow.
Something slowly materialized between Evelyne’s hands.
A delicate ???
