Chapter 114: Staff of the Sacred Lifespring

The first thing that appeared was a pale silver shaft.

Fine golden patterns spread along its surface, forming delicate lines that seemed to pulse faintly with energy.

At the top, several curved branches of white metal surrounded a translucent green crystal shaped like a droplet of water.

The moment the staff fully materialized, gentle Life energy spread through the alley.

Cain’s eyes lit up when he felt the sensation of the life energy coming out of the staff.

Elara stared at the weapon in front of her with a similarly strange expression.

"...A staff?"

A notification appeared before her.

[You have obtained the Staff of the Sacred Lifespring.]

Elara focused on the item in her hands, allowing its complete information to appear before her.

The longer she read, the stranger her expression became.

Cain noticed immediately.

"What did you get?"

Elara remained silent for another moment before looking at him.

Instead of answering directly, she extended the staff toward him.

"See it for yourself."

Cain accepted it curiously.

The moment his fingers wrapped around the pale silver shaft, the item’s information finally appeared before him.

[Staff of the Sacred Lifespring]

[Grade: Mythical]

[Type: Staff]

[Attribute: Life Element]

[Current State: First-Echelon Release]

[Most of the staff’s true power remains sealed. Further power will be released as the wielder advances through the Echelons.]

[Current Stat Increase: Physique +30 / Sense +40 / Mana +130 / Magic +150]

[Effects: Sacred Life Conduit, Lifespring Reservoir]

[Skills: Miracle of Life, Sacred Lifespring]

— — —

[Sacred Life Conduit]

[Greatly strengthens the power, speed, range, and precision of Healing, Life, and Purification abilities while reducing their Mana consumption. Life energy channeled through the staff becomes considerably purer and more stable.]

[Lifespring Reservoir]

[Continuously gathers excess Life and Mana energy from the surroundings and stores it within the staff. The accumulated energy can be used to supplement the wielder’s Mana when casting Healing and Life-attributed abilities.]

[Miracle of Life]

[Releases a powerful wave of concentrated Life energy throughout the surrounding area, rapidly healing injured allies and stabilizing those suffering from severe injuries. The amount of Life energy released can be increased by consuming energy stored within the Lifespring Reservoir.]

[Sacred Lifespring]

[Creates a temporary field filled with concentrated Life energy around the wielder. Allies within its range continuously recover injuries and vitality, while Healing and Life-attributed abilities used within the Lifespring become considerably stronger.]

[Additional abilities remain sealed.]

Cain stared at the information.

For several seconds, he said nothing as he was kind of speechless with how overpowered and suitable this item was to Evelyne.

Then his shoulders began shaking slightly.

Elara glanced toward him.

"What?"

Cain raised one hand to cover his mouth, but a quiet laugh escaped anyway.

The situation was simply too ridiculous.

He had only just finished inspecting a Mythical-rank Ice crown that Evelyne could barely use, and now Elara had opened an item practically designed around Evelyne’s entire fighting style.

More importantly, the staff was absurdly compatible with what Evelyne had just obtained.

Sacred Life Body already made her an exceptionally pure vessel for Life energy while increasing her healing effectiveness, Mana recovery, and affinity with Healing Mana. It also reduced the Mana consumption of her Healing Skills.

Now Sacred Life Conduit would reduce that consumption even further while directly strengthening the power, range, speed, and precision of those abilities.

Cain’s eyes moved toward Lifespring Reservoir.

’And this thing gives her another source of Mana on top of that.’

Evelyne’s biggest weakness as a healer had always been endurance.

No matter how powerful her healing became, she would eventually become useless once her Mana ran dry.

That problem was already becoming much smaller after obtaining the Sacred Life Body.

With this staff, it might become difficult for her to exhaust herself at all during an ordinary battle.

Then there was Life Overflow.

The Skill temporarily released the enormous Life energy contained within Sacred Life Body, strengthening all of Evelyne’s Healing Skills while continuously restoring her Mana and vitality.

Cain could already imagine what would happen if she activated Life Overflow while wielding this staff.

Her healing abilities would be strengthened by the Skill itself, strengthened again by Sacred Life Conduit, and supported by the stored energy within Lifespring Reservoir.

Even that was not the end of it.

Sacred Lifespring could create an entire field filled with concentrated Life energy that continuously healed everyone inside while making Healing and Life-attributed abilities even stronger.

’Her healing ability would become fucking ridiculous.’

Cain could not help thinking back to the battle against the Zombie King.

Evelyne had already kept him alive through Life Link despite possessing far weaker abilities at the time.

If the current Evelyne had been supporting him instead, with the Sacred Life Body, Life Overflow, and a staff like this...

The difference would have been enormous.

And the staff was still only at its First-Echelon Release.

Most of its true power remained sealed.

Cain finally understood why he was finding the situation so amusing.

He looked toward Elara.

She had already reached the obvious conclusion herself.

The staff’s Stat bonuses were excellent, but almost every meaningful ability revolved around Life energy and healing. Other than increasing her Stats, it offered almost nothing that complemented her Ice Mana or swordsmanship.

Unlike Evelyne with the crown, Elara did not seem particularly annoyed.

She merely studied the green crystal for a moment before sighing softly.

"This item is basically made for Evelyne."

Cain finally laughed out loud.

"What are the chances?"

Elara gave him a curious look as she had no idea what Cain was talking about.

Cain shook his head.

"You have no idea."

"About what?"

"The Orange Orb Evelyne opened gave her a Mythical-rank Ice item."

Elara paused, her eyes moved toward the direction Evelyne had left earlier before realization slowly appeared on her face.

"The crown?"

Cain raised an eyebrow.

"You know about it?"

"I saw her carrying something when she came to call me."

Elara thought back to the expression Evelyne had worn earlier.

The white-red haired woman had hidden the item soon afterward, but Elara had already noticed the pale-blue crystals embedded across its silver surface.
