Chapter 36: Arena of Wealth 1
[Car Dealership.]
"Huh? Why are there so many people today?" A salesgirl said, her eyes widening as she rushed towards the group of people following behind Asher, Juliana, and the Twins. The sudden influx of elite onlookers, estate agents, and bodyguards transformed the quiet showroom into a bustling stadium.
"We are here to bid on cars!" The youngest twin brother yelled, his voice echoing loudly off the polished glass walls and mirror-shining floorboards.
"Huh??"
The lady was stunned by the word, staring at him in confusion, entirely unaccustomed to someone treating a high-end luxury dealership like a local auction house.
"Bring out the best cars!!" He added, staring at the lady with the demanding air of a noble accustomed to instant obedience.
"Oh, alright!" She nodded and quickly gestured to the cars lined before them, her hands trembling slightly as she swept her arm toward the rows of high-performance vehicles.
"Brother, what should be the lowest price of the car?" He asked, turning to the eldest brother to establish their opening strategy.
"The starting bid should be five hundred thousand dollars. We can’t start it at a huge price, maybe he has already used all his money to get the Villa." The oldest answered with a smirk, convinced that Asher had exhausted his entire life savings and capital just to secure the estate deed.
"Oh!! It’s first young Master Caleb, and second young master Joshua!" The manager, a beautiful middle-aged woman in a bandage dress rushed out of her office, greeting the twins with a smile, her eyes sparkling at the smell of high-commission sales, then turned to the owner of Sky Hill Estate Company:
"Huh? Mr. Andrew, you are also here?"
"Forget all that, just show us some cars worth five hundred thousand dollars!! We came here to outbid him!" Joshua yelled, pointing a dismissive finger at Asher.
"Oh? Alright." The woman nodded her head, a greedy smile spreading across her face:
’Outbid? Do they plan to bid on a five hundred thousand dollar car? Will they push the price to two million? Wow, isn’t that a huge profit?’ She thought, her mind already calculating her percentage, before moving her gaze over Asher and Juliana.
’These guys don’t seem rich, why would they offend the Warsaw Twins... Not to mention the twins are both S-Rank awakened.’ She exhaled softly, pitying the fool who dared challenge noble blood. But before she could say anything, Asher spoke.
"I have a better idea."
"Better idea? What is it?" Joshua asked, turning to him with a sneer.
"Instead of bidding, let’s just go ahead and buy it. Remember, once you buy a car, you’ll have to buy the second car which is higher than the first, and it shouldn’t be lower than the one the other buys. You agree?"
"....?!"
The two brothers looked at one another, surprised by the sudden escalation, and Joshua asked: "Are both of us allowed in a team?"
"Sure, I don’t mind. Even if your father were here, I wouldn’t mind a three versus one battle... No man, family or country could defeat me with money." He said with a smile, his tone completely flat, devoid of bravado yet radiating absolute, terrifying certainty.
"....?!"
The whole dealership was stunned into dead silence. The people from the estate company weren’t that surprised, because they kind of had an idea of what Asher was capable of after watching him claim a five-hundred-billion-dollar mansion, but those from the dealership were different. To them, he was a madman challenging godhood with a empty wallet.
"Hey! You’re getting too arrogant here!! The Warsaw family is an awakened family, they even have five SSS-Rank guardians... You should mind your words." The manager said with a slight frown, stepping in to protect her high-tier clients’ pride.
"Did I speak to you?" Asher coldly asked back, his sharp gaze locking onto her, stunning her in place as her breath hitched in her throat.
Juliana simply stood still, watching everything, a little worried. She leaned slightly toward Asher, her fingers clutching her jacket. She knew Asher; just some days ago, they didn’t even have money to eat, and now, he was stating even a whole country couldn’t match his wealth... That bragging is a bit too much, right? She worried he was pushing himself into a corner to protect her honor.
"Hahahaha!! Alright then!! Don’t come begging after some minutes!" Joshua yelled, his laughter ringing harsh and sharp across the showroom floor, and turned to his brother:
"We can start big brother, get the cars here!!" He yelled.
’Why does this guy like yelling?’ Juliana thought in mild confusion.
"Alright." The manager pushed the sales lady aside, taking full control of the historic transaction.
"We both will start with a car with five hundred thousand." Caleb said, laying down the baseline, and Asher nodded his head smoothly.
"Alright! These two cars are identical. Porsche 911 GT3 RS, five hundred thousand dollars each!" She said with a smile, gesturing toward two gleaming machines sitting beneath the spotlights.
"Swipe the card!" Joshua yelled, tossing his sleek metallic card at her. The lady shakily caught the card, and then quickly brought the POS machine over, running the magnetic strip through the reader.
[Payment Received.]
"You see that? You’re up next." He said with a smug smile, folding his arms across his chest.
Asher nodded, unbothered, and placed his hand inside his pocket, pulling out the pristine obsidian card given to him by the system. The moment everyone saw the card, its weightless metallic sheen catching the light, they froze in shock.
"That?! That’s a limited black card!" Andrew yelled in disbelief, his eyes bulging:
"There are only ten in the whole world!" The manager answered, her voice trembling as she recognized the ultimate symbol of untraceable, infinite liquid assets, and turned to the twins:
’Seems you two met a worthy competition.’
Asher stared at the black card, a small frown on his face. When he was in the car, driving to the estate company, the system gave him the card, because his normal bank account couldn’t hold his money; in short, the system helped him create an encrypted global account and placed all his endless fortune into it.
The Manager carefully took the card from him as if handling fragile glass, and swiped it through the terminal:
[Payment Received.]
The two brothers looked at one another, then at Asher, a small frown starting to form on their confident faces.
"Alright, now my rule is in place. Your next car price should be higher than your first, and it shouldn’t be lower than mine... Of course, this also applies to me, whatever car you pick, I will pick a car much more expensive... The first to surrender, loses." Asher said with a smile, setting the trap tight around them, and added, looking back at the timid woman by his side:
"Besides, my wives need cars... I will use this opportunity and get each one of them some cars."
