Chapter 595 - 588: Formlessness
SWISH!!
Two enormous, crescent-shaped Qi Blades merged, forming a perfect full moon.
Inescapable!!
RRRIP!!
One of the blades struck Ji, who stood before him, carving a path from her waist to her shoulder.
The white bandages bound tightly around her body could no longer withstand the force and were all sliced clean through by Zhou Yuanjue’s terrifying attack.
But the Qi Blade’s assault didn’t stop there. It cut even deeper, leaving a ghastly gash on the body that the Spirit Guardians’ records had deemed indestructible!!
Bright red blood spurted out, instantly staining her flawless, porcelain skin. The immense momentum sent her body flying backward.
And just like that, the myth was shattered.
A divine body was bleeding!!
The times had changed!
Once, humanity could only gaze up at the heavens, could only place their hopes in Divine Beings, could only live from one day to the next, never knowing what the morrow would bring.
But now, humanity had advanced to an unimaginable degree.
There were no absolute myths, and no absolute Gods.
As long as they kept advancing, even Gods could be trampled underfoot!!
The Morning Wind Slash Zhou Yuanjue had unleashed in one direction struck Ji’s body, the massive impact causing the Qi Blade to disintegrate. However, the other Qi Blade, heading in the opposite direction, was not blocked by anything.
Outside the Immortal Palace, Yu Guanhai and the others watched the battle from on high. When they saw Zhou Yuanjue’s attack actually pierce the supposedly invulnerable body, shock flashed in their eyes. But they soon realized something was terribly wrong.
The other Qi Blade hadn’t vanished. Instead, it was hurtling outward at a terrifying speed.
And its trajectory... was pointed directly at them.
"Watch out!!"
Yu Guanhai bellowed, his face paling. The Qi Blade was just too fast; it seemed to cross the distance and reach them in the blink of an eye.
Tu Junshan, having been on alert, instantly dodged. But Yu Guanhai and the Third Clan Elder weren’t so lucky.
The two of them were sitting cross-legged, still in a state of meditative recovery, and couldn’t move in time.
But this was a matter of life and death. They cast aside all dignity, forgetting the customary elegance of the Moon Race, and scrambled out of the way with an ungainly roll, looking utterly pathetic.
The very instant they dodged, the Qi Blade slammed into the mountain peak.
SWISH!!
A terrifying fissure appeared on the mountain, which was nearly cleaved in two. The Qi Blade didn’t stop there; it shot upward, slicing through the clouds in the sky.
The group looked at the fissure on the peak. The cut surface of the rock was perfectly flat, so smooth it seemed... almost like polished glass.
’If that had hit us, would we have survived?’
Yu Guanhai and the Third Clan Elder exchanged a glance. ’We really shouldn’t have come,’ they thought.
’First, we were nearly drained dry just granting some simple permissions, and now we almost get sliced in half just by watching from the sidelines...’
’This is too dangerous!!’
Their eyes darted about, searching for a safer spot. But then a thought struck them: against an attack that terrifying, even if they were hiding behind a tank, the aftershock alone would probably kill them...
’There was nowhere in the world they could hide that would stop Zhou Yuanjue from killing them.’
At that thought, the two of them resigned themselves to their fate. It was better to stay on the mountain peak. At least the view was clear, giving them a chance to dodge any danger ahead of time.
「Elsewhere.」
The massive impact sent Ji flying through the air, crashing heavily into the mountainside of the Immortal Palace.
CRUMBLE... CRUMBLE...
She slowly emerged from the crater in the mountainside. The white bandages on her upper body, completely severed by the slash, instantly disintegrated.
She lowered her exquisite face and glanced down at her chest.
Between two towering, snowy peaks, a ghastly scar stretched across. Blood trickled from the wound, and the sharp sting—a sensation she hadn’t felt in an age—assaulted her nerves, making her will grow even more frenzied and savage.
’A ghastly scar. Scalding blood. To think such an ugly thing had appeared on her perfect body.’
’True, her True Spirit had not yet fully returned, leaving many of its abilities inaccessible. And this body, after so many years under a Seal, was far from its peak condition.’
’But no matter the reason, being seen in such a disgraceful state was something she absolutely could not tolerate.’
The ghastly wound on her chest healed rapidly, until even the scar vanished. The bloodstains flaked off her body, and her skin became as white and perfect as before. Now free from the bandages, she radiated an even deadlier allure.
But even so, what had happened could not be undone.
’In that last strike, her opponent had broken down his Divine Soul Power to a microscopic level, infusing it into the Wind Blade to grant it unimaginable cutting Power.’
She knew that to defeat such a being, conventional power held no hope.
"Can we speak calmly now? Are you ready to acknowledge where we both stand?"
Zhou Yuanjue gazed directly at her body, his eyes betraying no emotion.
Lust, gender—such things were useless to him, incapable of stirring the slightest ripple in his heart.
For even the most beautiful body would eventually perish. And that included the being before him.
"You really do underestimate me. Or rather, ’us’," she said.
"Do you know why we, despite not having truly broken through to the next stage, can still reign supreme over any True King and be revered as ’Primordial Ancestors’?"
"Everything you see is false, low-grade. Only we are able to glimpse the ’Truth’!!"
A bewitching smile spread across Ji’s perfect face.
VMMMM!!
Her entire body trembled faintly, as if welcoming some kind of power.
The calm expression on Zhou Yuanjue’s face shifted slightly.
He couldn’t understand what she was doing. He couldn’t sense anything unusual within her body. All he could feel was a sense of crisis that was almost a physical roar in his senses.
"It really... hurts!! But you’ll soon know what it’s like to feel pain from the depths of your True Spirit."
At that moment, Ji’s body suddenly seemed unreal to Zhou Yuanjue’s eyes.
’There’s no discernible anomaly. What is it?!’
Zhou Yuanjue narrowed his eyes.
WHOOSH!!
In the next instant, Ji shot into motion.
’Her speed hasn’t increased much, nor has her Power shown any fundamental enhancement. The same goes for her Divine Soul and magnetic field.’
’Then what is it?’
Zhou Yuanjue took a deep breath, and his physical form shifted once more.
This time, he assumed a defensive form.
His back hunched slightly, his neck retracted, and he crossed his arms to shield his front, resembling a giant Divine Turtle.
The Four Holy Forms: Black Tortoise!!
And in that instant, Ji’s figure appeared before him.
Her slender, jade-like, perfect palm, seemingly ethereal and untouched by the mortal world, lightly pressed against his crossed arms.
"Vacuum·Boundaryless!!"
SPLAT!!
The very instant her delicate white palm made contact with Zhou Yuanjue’s body, his skin, muscles, bones—everything—violently exploded.
Disintegration!!
