Chapter 619 - 612: Change
"This incarnation of yours... it’s too weak."
Zhou Yuanjue cracked a slight smile. Then, he suddenly unleashed a flurry of alternating punches.
SWISH SWISH SWISH SWISH!
Countless narrow beams of light, thousands of meters long, flashed into existence with every swing of his fists, frantically piercing through Hong’s body.
Now that the issue of his body’s energy supply had been resolved, he could unleash his power without restraint. He was even a notch stronger than when he was at the Kunlun Immortal Palace. His opponent, on the other hand, was slightly weaker than Ji’s vessel back then. To the current Zhou Yuanjue, he was not a difficult foe.
No matter how strong the fundamental nature of his opponent was, his actual strength was only at the Ancient True King Level. It was impossible for him to suppress Zhou Yuanjue.
In the gray, misty space, the various Ancestral Incarnations watched the scene projected on the screen and fell silent.
Even though it was only the strength of an Ancient True King, with a physical body temporarily molded by the Master of Nightmares’ power, the essence of their power was real. To be suppressed to such an extent...
It was as if he had no power to fight back at all.
"If we don’t save him soon, he’s going to be beaten to death."
Ji seemed to have anticipated this, showing little surprise. She turned and spoke to the Master of Nightmares, who was sitting cross-legged in the center of the misty space, seemingly preparing something.
"..."
The Master of Nightmares glanced at the screen, at the sight of Hong’s body being riddled with holes by countless beams of light in mid-air. He remained silent for a moment, then waved his arm.
On the battlefield.
WHOOSH!!
Zhou Yuanjue was in the middle of a frenzied combo when a large amount of gray fog suddenly erupted around Hong’s body. The fog enveloped his form, which then abruptly collapsed and vanished into the void.
"This trick again?"
Zhou Yuanjue frowned slightly and slowly deactivated his "Cyan Dragon" form, returning to normal.
’From the looks of it, I’m still in a passive position,’ he thought. ’I need to find a way to escape this unknown space the enemy has created as soon as possible.’
But before that, he first needed to replenish the energy he had consumed in the fight.
Although he had displayed overwhelming power, it had come at the cost of immense stamina. The battle just now had consumed more than thirty percent of his physical energy.
He reached for the tactical pouch on his hip, which was made of the most advanced special materials. He unzipped it, reached inside, and took out several irregular, transparent crystals that resembled rock sugar, tossing them into his mouth.
Under the control of his power, the compressed cells within were quickly absorbed and converted into a massive amount of bio-energy, rapidly replenishing his reserves.
And his pouch was stuffed full of similar crystals.
This was the ace up his sleeve that allowed him to remain so composed.
After replenishing his energy, Zhou Yuanjue slowly looked up at the enormous mass of gray fog in the sky.
"Is that the core?" Zhou Yuanjue muttered to himself. "Looks like I’ll have to find a way up there."
...
...
Meanwhile, Hong’s body, which had vanished from the battlefield wrapped in gray fog, reappeared in the misty space the next moment.
THUD!!
A body riddled with holes fell out of the gray fog and slammed onto the ground, drawing the attention of the numerous Primordial Ancestors.
’He looks truly pathetic...’
The Primordial Ancestors couldn’t help but sigh in unison as they looked at Hong’s body, which resembled a wasp’s nest.
"Mang, Yu, Sai, one of you give him some basic treatment," the Master of Nightmares said, glancing at Hong’s condition and addressing two of the other Primordial Ancestors.
One of them was the being with an androgynous face, its body covered in an insect-like carapace and wreathed in a faint green light.
The other was that extremely peculiar Primordial Ancestor, the one with male and female forms fused into a single body.
"It would alter the cycle."
"And it’s tiring."
The male and female heads of Mang and Yu said, respectively.
"I’ll do it. What a troublesome guy,"
Sai said in a sharp voice.
GURGLE GURGLE!!
The green fluorescence surrounding his body suddenly seemed to boil. Upon closer inspection, it wasn’t fluorescence or smoke at all, but rather minuscule cells, as small as air molecules.
Under the control of his power, these cells rapidly proliferated, quickly growing in mid-air to form a writhing mass of pale green flesh.
Sai leaned down and pressed the squirming flesh against Hong’s hole-riddled body.
The flesh immediately wriggled as if alive, burrowing into Hong’s body.
The wounds on his body repaired themselves at a visible rate, and he quickly returned to his previous state.
Sai was considered the source of plagues, misfortune, and disease, but also a symbol of proliferation. Among the Seven Mo Luo, the Plague of Rebellion was the inherited lineage of his descendants.
THUD.
Once his body was repaired, Hong immediately stood up from the ground. His face, now restored to its human appearance, was dark with a gloom that preceded a violent storm.
"Alright, let’s skip the pleasantries. Tell us what intelligence you gathered from the fight," Ji said coolly.
Hong fell silent for a moment, seemingly struggling to suppress some emotion. Finally, he spoke. "His body is very strange, as if every single cell is ’alive.’ It was able to instantly stop my ’Cannon Fodder,’ and you all should know how difficult that is. Moreover, he seems able to sense the direction of attacks from the True Realm. An attack with the Power of Boundaryless will likely miss unless it’s perfectly concealed."
"Unlike the ordinary Path of True Self, his ’True Self’ doesn’t just allow his life structure to specialize in one area. Instead, it allows every aspect to reach its peak."
"His speed, power, defense, and even his Life Force are all at their peak simultaneously. The combination of these qualities creates a qualitative leap. Furthermore, his Divine Soul Power is extremely condensed and resilient. In a clash between equals of the same realm, it would be difficult for us to gain an advantage."
"My recommendation is to suppress him through sheer power and Energy Level. A group of three to five should be enough. My battle just now must have consumed a fair amount of his stamina."
As he spoke, Hong looked toward the Master of Nightmares.
Being inside Nightmare City, the Master of Nightmares should be able to perceive Zhou Yuanjue’s basic condition quite clearly.
"I did sense that he consumed thirty to forty percent of his stamina," the Master of Nightmares suddenly said. "However, within ten seconds, all of that stamina was restored."
Restoring thirty percent of his stamina... in under ten seconds...
Upon hearing this, the faces of the many Primordial Ancestors couldn’t help but twitch. Hong’s expression, in particular, looked worse than if he’d just eaten shit.
He had thought that even though he had been thoroughly humiliated, he had at least forced his opponent to reveal some of his strength and expend a good deal of stamina. Draining his opponent’s stamina was, after all, their main objective.
He never expected that the stamina his opponent had used would be restored in an instant.
’In other words,’ he thought, ’did I just get my ass kicked for nothing?’
"It seems we’ll have to make some changes to the plan," the Master of Nightmares said.
