Just as the two of them were standing there anxiously, unsure of what to do, the large creature suddenly crashed to the ground with a thunderous sound. This scene didn’t just dumbfound the two men; it also left Xiao Xiao, who had been fighting the large creature, completely stunned.

"What happened? How did this thing suddenly fall over? I haven’t even made my move yet!" she exclaimed, staring at her fallen opponent in utter confusion.

The two anxious men beside her, however, quickly grew excited as they processed what had happened.

"Hahaha, that’s our Little Girl Xiaoxiao for you! She took down that creature in a flash. We were just wondering how we could help you!" Seeing that the large beast was motionless, they both rushed to Xiao Xiao’s side.

Seeing their excitement, Xiao Xiao quickly shook her head. "It wasn’t me. I was just standing here and didn’t move. The creature fell on its own. It had nothing to do with me!"

Xiao Xiao was truly baffled. She took a few steps forward for a closer look. The large creature was lying motionless on the ground and seemed to have stopped breathing entirely.

However, Qi Tian paid no mind to Xiao Xiao’s explanation. Instead, his face was full of excitement as he said, "Little Girl Xiaoxiao, there’s no need to be modest. We all know how strong you are. We fully expected you to handle this creature with ease." In his mind, there was no doubt that Xiao Xiao had effortlessly dealt with the beast.

"Ah, but it is such a pity," Qi Tian mumbled to himself, looking at the large creature’s fallen body. "When our Young Miss finishes her closed-door cultivation, she’ll surely be sad to hear about this. But since the creature was trying to attack us, we couldn’t just stand there and let it, could we?"

Xiao Xiao scanned her surroundings, a feeling that something was amiss growing within her. If I wasn’t mistaken, an aura definitely helped me just now. It felt completely unfamiliar, which means I don’t know them. But if we’re strangers, why would they help me?

"Qi Tian, are there any powerful members of the Xue Family around here?" Xiao Xiao turned and asked.

Qi Tian quickly shook his head. "This is our Young Miss’s palace. She generally doesn’t like outsiders, so besides a few servants who handle the cleaning, there are no other powerful individuals here." His words sent Xiao Xiao into deep thought.

"Qi Tian, you two wait here. I’m going to check something up ahead and I’ll be right back." Still unable to figure out who had helped her, Xiao Xiao quickly ran in the direction where she had sensed the aura.

Soon, Xiao Xiao arrived at the spot where she had sensed the aura. After scanning the area, however, she found no one. Just as she was about to leave, she suddenly spotted the familiar hem of a robe behind a distant tree.

"Hey, friend! Please wait a moment!" Xiao Xiao called out, quickly running toward the figure. Hearing her voice, the person stopped.

When Xiao Xiao got a clear look at the person’s face, a wide smile spread across her own. "Oh, it’s you! I was wondering who it was. You startled me!"

The man smiled slightly at Xiao Xiao. "My apologies, Little Girl Xiaoxiao. I didn’t mean to startle you by standing there."

Xiao Xiao quickly waved her hands. "Xue Wei, no, no, it was my fault. I was just lost in thought and didn’t notice you."

Xiao Xiao glanced around, then looked back at Xue Wei and asked slowly, "Xue Wei, was it you who helped me just now?" As there was no one else in sight, she was sure it could only have been him.

Faced with her question, Xue Wei didn’t hide the truth. "Yes. I saw that the large creature was about to injure you, Little Girl Xiaoxiao, so I couldn’t stop myself from stepping in. I didn’t hold back with that blow, though. The creature isn’t dead, but it’s close. I imagine this must be upsetting for you, since you went to such trouble to bring it back."

So it was him. Without his help, I probably would have been seriously injured by that creature. And now he’s apologizing to me when I should be the one thanking him.

"Xue Wei, you don’t need to apologize to me. That little pet isn’t mine anyway; I was just helping someone find it. And since it tried to attack us, we can’t hesitate just because it’s a pet. If anything, I’m the one who should be thanking you."

Previously, her impression of Xue Wei had been one of mystery and inscrutability, but this incident made her see him as a good person.

But isn’t this Xue Zhao’s residence? Xue Wei lives countless miles from here. Why would he suddenly show up to help me?

Her unspoken question seemed to have been anticipated by Xue Wei.

He smiled. "To be honest, Little Girl Xiaoxiao, I sensed something was off about that little creature when I found it, but it never acted up at my home. When I saw you take it away, I worried it might suddenly turn violent and hurt you, so I couldn’t help but follow along to see. I’m glad it didn’t harm you; otherwise, I would have felt terrible."

Xue Wei’s thoughtful explanation dispelled Xiao Xiao’s concerns. She nodded in sudden understanding. "Oh, I see. Then I really must thank you. I’ve unknowingly ended up in your debt again."

Xiao Xiao scratched her head sheepishly. She wanted to thank Xue Wei properly but had nothing of value to offer, as they had left in such a hurry.

However, before Xiao Xiao could say more, Xue Wei spoke up. "By the way, Little Girl Xiaoxiao, things were so rushed I forgot to ask. What brings you to the Xue Family? Are you just visiting for fun? If so, I’d be happy to show you around!"

Hearing this, Xiao Xiao quickly shook her head. "No, no, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not here for fun; I came for a very important matter. It’s just that right now, there’s nothing for me to do."

The Young Master has gone into closed-door cultivation, and I don’t know if Xue Feng is still dealing with the Zheng Family. Everything will have to wait until the Young Master has recovered before any decisions can be made.

Xue Wei looked quite regretful upon hearing her words. "I see. That’s a pity. I was hoping you were here for leisure so we could explore a bit. But since you have important matters to attend to, Little Girl Xiaoxiao, is there anything I can help you with?"
