Elder Li’s voice became even sharper: "You’re talking about friendship with me now? Elder Yang, this is utterly ridiculous! Do you really think that a few words about so-called friendship can stop me from intervening in your disciple’s affairs? Do you think I would abandon the Jiang Ancient Clan’s Holy Son just because of your words?"

Elder Yang sat there, silent, his head lowered, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

Every word from Elder Li was like a blade piercing into his heart, and he knew he couldn’t retort.

Seeing Elder Yang’s silent demeanor, Elder Li’s anger burned even brighter: "Elder Yang, do you know how selfish you are being? You would have me ignore the Saint Heir’s interests for your disciple? Do you think this is right? Do you think I will agree?"

Her voice gradually became choked with sobs: "I once trusted you so much, once regarded you as the most important person. And you? All you gave me was betrayal and disappointment. Now you come to have me forsake my responsibilities for your personal gain, Elder Yang, you truly chill my heart."

Elder Yang remained silent, as if humbly listening to Elder Li’s reproach and anger.

He knew he owed Elder Li far too much, and these words were well deserved.

He lifted his head, looking at Elder Li’s slightly trembling face of anger, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

"Elder Li, I know I was wrong." He said softly, his voice tinged with fatigue and helplessness. "I know I owe you far too much. But is the relationship with the Jiang Ancient Clan’s Holy Son really that deep?"

A hint of complex emotion flashed through Elder Li’s eyes as she looked at Elder Yang’s exhausted expression, her anger gradually calming.

But she still spoke coldly: "Elder Yang, I can understand your feelings, but my principles will not be changed by a word from you. The interests of the Jiang Ancient Clan are above all else, and you should be clear about this more than anyone else."

She turned away, no longer looking at Elder Yang, her voice carrying a trace of finality: "Leave, Elder Yang. I will not agree to your request, nor will I violate my principles for you."

Elder Yang nodded, a bitter smile appearing on his face, and slowly turned to walk away.

His figure appeared somewhat desolate, his steps heavy, as if each step carried endless regret and helplessness.

Elder Li stood there, watching Elder Yang’s departing figure, her anger burning ever more fiercely.

Her hands clenched into fists, knuckles whitening from the force, trembling slightly. Her eyes glared wide from anger, her chest heaving violently.

"Elder Yang, you really just left like that!"

She murmured between gritted teeth, her voice full of suppressed anger and disappointment.

She fiercely flicked her sleeve, turning to the wine table, grabbing a wine jug, and pouring a cup harshly, downing it in one go.

She seemed to want to use the fiery wine to quench the anger in her heart, but as soon as the liquid touched her throat, the burning sensation made her feel even more heartbroken.

"He still dared to come to me and mention those past friendships!"

Elder Li said indignantly, her voice somewhat hoarse.

A thin layer of tears welled up in her eyes, but she quickly blinked them back.

She could not cry, could not appear weak at this moment.

She poured another glass of wine and drank it swiftly, a hint of a cold smile at the corner of her mouth.

"Fine, Elder Yang, go ahead and leave, far away! Don’t let me ever see you again! Do you think I would change for you? You are too naive!"

Elder Li’s heart was in turmoil, anger and disappointment intertwined, her gaze full of chilliness.

She walked to the edge of the cliff, looking at the distant mountains and horizon, the cold wind brushed against her cheeks, her long hair dancing in the wind.

She lifted her head, taking a deep breath, trying to calm herself, but the anger and disappointment were like a blazing fire that could not be extinguished.

"Elder Yang, you have disappointed me to the utmost." She murmured, her voice full of helplessness and sorrow.

She knew that the scar in her heart might never heal.

Elder Yang hadn’t really gone far, he watched Elder Li’s expression from the shadows, unable to help but sigh.

"Disciple, I want to help you too, but this enmity is not so easily resolved."

Elsewhere, at Xue Zhao’s residence, a lively celebration banquet was in full swing.

The hall was brightly lit, colorful lanterns hanging high, guests raising their glasses in joy, laughter echoing, filling the entire space with merriment.

Musicians played cheerful tunes, dancers twirled gracefully in the center, the scene bustling with activity.

However, in this noisy backdrop, Xue Zhao and Ye Qingchen chose a relatively quiet corner.

This spot was obscured by lush foliage, isolating most of the noise.

Soft moonlight shone through the leaves, casting a peaceful glow on them.

Ye Qingchen stood before Xue Zhao, his face serious.

His brows furrowed, his eyes revealing a hint of gravity.

Xue Zhao noticed Ye Qingchen’s expression and became serious as well.

"Ye Qingchen, what’s the matter?" Xue Zhao asked softly.

Ye Qingchen took a deep breath and said gravely, "What is Xue Wei’s current situation?"

Their Family Head is so partial to Xue Wei, who knows what decisions they would make.

Xue Zhao’s expression turned complex in an instant.

She was silent for a moment before replying in a low voice: "He’s being held in Xue Family’s highest security prison, and it’s very bad. The Family Head and the Elders are extremely angry with him. It seems the punishment will be severe."

Ye Qingchen nodded, his gaze showing a hint of contemplation.

He knew this matter was far from over, that Xue Wei would not give in so easily.

"I’m worried the Family Head might go soft." Ye Qingchen said in a low voice, his tone carrying a hint of warning. "Xue Wei won’t concede easily, you must be careful."

Xue Zhao nodded, she too understood the danger Xue Wei posed.

Although he was already imprisoned, that didn’t mean everything was over.

Xue Zhao said earnestly, "Since I am now the Saintess, Xue Wei won’t get away. Ye Qingchen, don’t worry."

Ye Qingchen nodded, his eyes carrying a trace of reassurance: "With you here, I feel at ease. However, Xue Wei was quite involved with the Jiang Ancient Clan’s Holy Son. My next step is to visit the Jiang Ancient Clan."

Xue Zhao slightly frowned, clearly worried about Ye Qingchen’s decision: "The Jiang Ancient Clan isn’t easy to deal with. Going alone is too dangerous."

Ye Qingchen smiled and shook his head: "I have my plans. My fiancée is still in their hands, and, I’m confident I can handle it."

Xue Zhao was silent for a moment, then firmly said: "I trust you. But, you must be careful. If there’s anything you need help with, let me know anytime."

Ye Qingchen looked gratefully at Xue Zhao, speaking softly: "Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. You too, take care, the Xue Family needs you as the Saintess."
