Chapter 811: Unfamiliar
Xue Wei let out a cold laugh, "That’s right. Wu Chang is a sharp blade; as long as we use him correctly, he will become Ye Qingchen’s nightmare."
He paused for a moment and continued, "However, Wu Chang is just our final plan. Our plan must be foolproof, and not a single link can go wrong."
Ah San still felt unsatisfied upon hearing this.
He stood in front of Xue Wei, hesitated for a moment, and finally couldn’t help but ask, "Master, even if he’s beneficial to our plan, you don’t have to be so nice to him."
Just now, Wu Chang’s demeanor was so arrogant it was as if he was going to ascend to the heavens.
No one had dared to act like that towards Xue Wei!
His master had never been such a good-natured person.
Xue Wei heard this, a cold smile appearing on his face. He looked at Ah San sharply and said slowly, "Ah San, do you think I’ll just let him off like that?"
Ah San was taken aback, then said, "But didn’t you say we still need him for our plan?"
Xue Wei’s gaze became even deeper, and he burst into laughter, "I will let Wu Chang off for now, but you know what kind of person I am. After the plan is over, will he have a chance to live? Besides, we still need to rely on the forces behind Wu Chang. Now is not the time to fall out."
Ah San frowned, amazed in his heart, his master was still the same as before!
"But he’s so capricious. If he causes trouble again, how do we deal with it?"
Xue Wei gently waved his hand, a trace of coldness in his eyes, "Ah San, in the Xue Family, don’t forget this is my territory. If he dares to act again, there won’t be a good outcome without me having to act."
Ah San nodded, a sense of realization in his heart, "Master is wise!"
Xue Wei nodded in satisfaction, a hint of shrewdness flashing in his eyes, "Everything is within my control. Wu Chang is just a pawn on the chessboard. We need to be adept at strategy to remain undefeated in this game."
Ah San respectfully said, "Master is indeed far-sighted. I will remember your teachings, proceed with caution, and ensure our plan goes smoothly."
The next day, the morning sun cast its light on the Bluestone Slab in the courtyard.
Ye Qingchen, with a hint of doubt, headed to the Xue Family’s residence.
He contemplated the scene from the night before when he fought with the man in black. Who exactly was the mysterious man with the severed left arm? Unable to shake off the suspicion, he decided to inquire with Xue Zhao.
At the Xue Family’s courtyard, Ye Qingchen saw Xue Zhao practicing swordplay, the sword light flowing like water, her posture graceful.
Ye Qingchen approached, and Xue Zhao ceased her practice and stood with a slight smile, "Ye Qingchen, thinking of me so early in the morning?"
Ye Qingchen replied with some amusement, "Don’t joke around. I’m here for serious matters."
"Serious matters? Have you finally agreed to become a part of the family?" Xue Zhao blinked.
Ye Qingchen sighed helplessly.
Xue Zhao laughed, "Alright, alright, no more teasing. Tell me, what’s the matter?"
Ye Qingchen nodded and straightforwardly asked, "Xue Zhao, have you seen someone with a severed left arm in the Xue Family? Last night I encountered a mysterious man in black, his left arm was severed, and his appearance was sinister."
Xue Zhao slightly frowned, pondered, and then shook her head, "A person with a severed left arm? I’ve never seen such a person in the Xue Family."
Ye Qingchen looked somewhat disappointed, but knowing Xue Zhao wouldn’t hide anything, he continued, "This person’s martial arts are not weak, and he carries the Xue Family’s emblem. He also rescued the Wu Chang whom I was about to capture. I suspect he may have connections with someone in the Xue Family."
Upon hearing this, Xue Zhao’s expression turned serious, "I really have no knowledge of this matter. Although the Xue Family is vast, it’s impossible to know every individual’s circumstances. However, if there truly is such a person, we must tread carefully."
Xue Zhao had heard Ye Qingchen talk about Wu Chang before, but she hadn’t expected Wu Chang to be here.
Ye Qingchen nodded, "You’re right. Since you haven’t seen him, it suggests he’s not part of the Xue Family, or his presence here is extremely secretive."
Xue Zhao pondered for a moment, determination flashing in her eyes, "Ye Qingchen, this matter is not simple. I’ll have people keep an eye out for someone matching your description. If there’s any information, I’ll inform you immediately."
Ye Qingchen smiled gratefully, "Thank you, Xue Zhao. With your word, I’m assured. I’ll go prepare the things for the Secret Realm now."
Xue Zhao nodded, "Tomorrow, we’ll set off. Make sure to bring everything I instructed you to take."
After Ye Qingchen left, Xue Zhao continued her sword practice in the courtyard, the morning sunlight filtering through the leaves falling upon her, the sword light shimmering. At this moment, she suddenly heard a soft conversation nearby.
She put away her Longsword and followed the sound, discovering Qi Tian and Qi Sheng chatting in a nearby corner.
Xue Zhao stopped, pricking up her ears to listen to their conversation closely.
Qi Tian whispered, "Did you know? Recently, I heard that Ah San, Lord Xue Wei’s subordinate, suddenly lost an arm."
The usually quiet Qi Sheng was surprised and asked, "Really? Ah San is a valuable assistant to Lord Xue Wei. How could he suddenly lose an arm? Was he severely injured?"
Qi Tian nodded mysteriously, "Yes, this matter is rarely spoken of and barely anyone knows. I happened to see Ah San by chance. I asked the people in that courtyard, and they only said Ah San sustained severe injuries during a secret mission, and when he returned, his left arm was gone."
"However, I find this matter not simple. We know what those people are like."
Qi Sheng frowned, "It’s indeed strange. Ah San has always been very cautious and powerful. How could he suffer such severe injuries?"
Qi Tian lowered his voice, his tone carrying a hint of speculation, "Who knows? Anyway, Ah San is now more reclusive, rarely showing his face. I heard his personality has become even more unpredictable after losing his arm."
Qi Sheng sighed, "It seems this matter is certainly not simple. We should talk less about it to avoid annoying the young miss."
Qi Tian nodded in agreement, "Yes, it’s best not to get involved in such matters. However, one thing is for sure, Ah San’s lost arm is definitely related to some major incident, though what it is exactly is unknown."
Their conversation gradually faded away, leaving Xue Zhao frowning deeply. She recalled the one-armed man in black Ye Qingchen mentioned and had some suspicions about it.
Xue Wei again, it’s Xue Wei.
All of this, it seems, is Xue Wei’s doing!
Looks like that guy intends to oppose me at every turn.
But he’s also targeting Ye Qingchen; could it be that he knows about our collaboration?
