Chapter 546 - 543: Rescue
Hearing Lin Xinghai’s words, Fu Yuan and the others opened their mouths, but in the end, they couldn’t get a single word out.
They wanted to go and help, but they knew full well that if they followed, they would only become a burden.
After all, the Sharp Blade Camp was about to face a Divine Demon Realm expert. Against such a terrifying existence, Lin Xinghai was the only one here who could possibly help.
"You have to be careful." A thousand thoughts swirled in Fu Yuan’s mind, but they all condensed into that one sentence.
"I won’t be reckless. Besides, my greatest strength is Speed. I may not be able to defeat a Divine Demon Realm expert, but I’ll have no problem escaping." Lin Xinghai chuckled, then quickly adjusted his gear.
He picked up Fu Yuan’s assault rifle, and in addition, grabbed another custom Tearing Rifle.
During the previous charge, he had used every firearm the team members carried, and these two packed the biggest punch.
Next was ammunition. Fortunately, most of the rounds they’d brought on this mission were Armor-Piercing Bullets. Perhaps only this kind of ammunition could pose even the slightest threat to a Divine Demon Realm expert.
Lin Xinghai emptied his combat pack. At this stage, many things were unnecessary, like the personal jammers.
After emptying it out, he freed up a considerable amount of space in the pack, which he then filled completely with magazines.
Once he was done, Lin Xinghai waved to the group behind him and vanished into the corridor in the blink of an eye.
Watching Lin Xinghai’s retreating figure, Fu Yuan took a deep breath and said to the others, "Let’s go. We need to get out of here quickly, lest we get caught in the crossfire."
...
Meanwhile, Lin Xinghai extended his Perception Power to its fullest and quickly caught up with the Sharp Blade Camp, led by Kong Hua.
The Sharp Blade Camp was currently engaged in a firefight with the base’s militants. However, the members of the Sharp Blade Camp were all elite soldiers, their combat prowess clearly a cut above that of the underground base’s forces.
With a Divine Demon Realm expert like Kong Hua present, the battle was almost completely one-sided.
Lin Xinghai watched as, with a wave of his hand, Kong Hua conjured over a hundred Rocky Spires out of thin air. The spires shot into the enemy ranks like cannonballs, instantly killing more than a dozen militants.
His killing efficiency was scarcely any slower than Lin Xinghai’s own. And Lin Xinghai knew full well that this was just a common Rock Superpower; in the hands of a Divine Demon Realm expert, however, it was terrifyingly powerful.
Just as he arrived, the squad was finishing a battle. Sensing Lin Xinghai’s approach, Kong Hua turned, his brow furrowed. "Why did you follow us? When I face the Divine Demon Realm expert, I won’t be able to guarantee your safety."
Kong Hua was, of course, aware of Lin Xinghai’s identity. He was the only "First Class Seed" in many years, hailed as the genius most likely to shatter the limits of the Divine Demon Realm. He absolutely could not let anything happen to him.
"I’m here to help. My Gun Technique can still be useful. As for my safety, don’t worry. I specialize in Speed. As long as I stay on the perimeter and don’t get too close, I should be fine."
As he spoke, Lin Xinghai activated his Phantom Body Technique, Divine Demon Body, and Time Acceleration Ability. In an instant, he appeared right beside Kong Hua.
Kong Hua had been on the verge of scolding Lin Xinghai for his boastful words.
But when he saw the young man appear beside him in the blink of an eye, even his pupils contracted, a look of utter shock flashing across his face.
Kong Hua had read Lin Xinghai’s file; he knew his Speed was extraordinary, far surpassing others of the same rank.
’But the file didn’t say he was *this* fast!’
The burst of Speed Lin Xinghai had just unleashed was barely slower than his own. And while Speed wasn’t his specialty, Lin Xinghai was just a Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artist!
If he hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed it possible.
Taking a breath to suppress his shock, Kong Hua sized up Lin Xinghai as if seeing him for the first time. He then nodded. "Alright. You’ll attack with your firearms. Remember, no matter what, do not get within one hundred meters of the target."
Kong Hua had already witnessed Lin Xinghai’s Gun Technique while his team was breaking through the enemy’s defensive line. The kid’s skill was worthy of the title "Gun God."
With him around, he could indeed be a great help. At the very least, when Kong Hua himself couldn’t afford any distractions, Lin Xinghai’s power was more than enough to control the battlefield.
After the brief exchange, Lin Xinghai officially joined the Sharp Blade Camp, fighting his way down alongside the squad.
With Lin Xinghai on the team, Kong Hua soon realized he didn’t even need to act. The young man’s killing efficiency was in no way inferior to his own.
After all, his own actions consumed Superpower, whereas Lin Xinghai was only expending bullets. And ammunition was the one thing they had in abundance.
Seeing this, Kong Hua assigned several soldiers to reload Lin Xinghai’s magazines, allowing him to conserve his own Superpower and remain in peak condition.
After all, he was about to face a Divine Demon Realm expert; he couldn’t afford to be the least bit careless.
The Sharp Blade Camp advanced at a breakneck pace. Any resistance they met was eliminated almost instantly. In less than two minutes, they had fought their way from the first underground level to the second.
When they reached the second underground level, the scene that greeted them made everyone gasp. The floor and walls were warped and buckled. Scorch marks scarred the surfaces, and as far as the eye could see, there were bodies twisted into charred husks.
"I never imagined the armory’s detonation would be this devastating," Lin Xinghai said with a soft sigh, a heavy feeling in his chest. "The teams that called for help... they’re probably hurt even worse than I imagined."
"Don’t overthink it. The order came from the Military Department; you were just following it," Kong Hua said, his tone serious as he noticed the change in Lin Xinghai’s mood. "Besides, just think: if you hadn’t detonated that ammunition, and it was used against us on the battlefield, how many of our own people would be dead right now?"
He was genuinely worried that Lin Xinghai might get hung up on this.
"I understand. It’s just... I feel like I’m still too weak. If I were stronger, I could have handled things better," Lin Xinghai said, quickly composing himself. "Let’s hurry and rescue them!"
Seeing that Lin Xinghai seemed to have genuinely recovered, Kong Hua nodded. "I’ve already scouted ahead. The Divine Demon Realm expert isn’t on this level. Also, thanks to the sheer power of the armory detonation, not many enemy combatants survived down here."
"Under these circumstances, we can split up to rescue those four squads as quickly as possible."
"You and I will take the two squads that are farther away. The rest of the Sharp Blade Camp will split up to rescue the other two. We’ll rendezvous back here afterward."
