Chapter 534 - 531: Target Area
As the alloy door slowly opened, Fu Yuan and the others felt their hearts leap into their throats.
At that moment, they were all waiting for Lin Xinghai to give the order to enter.
Just as the alloy door opened a crack, barely wide enough for one person to pass, the group saw a shadow flit past.
Then they realized Lin Xinghai was gone.
Immediately after, a series of muffled thuds echoed from inside, followed by a single, deep gunshot.
This sudden turn of events was completely unexpected. They never imagined Lin Xinghai would charge in without a single word.
Such an action showed a complete lack of coordination. Logically, not even a raw recruit would make such a Low Level mistake.
Although they were all complaining internally, this was no time to debate right and wrong.
Fu Yuan simply gave a hand signal, and the others, well-drilled, began to enter in groups while providing cover.
However, when they got inside, they were dumbfounded.
From the moment the door opened to the moment they entered, no more than two seconds had passed.
That was an incredibly fast response. Under normal circumstances, the battle should have just begun.
But what they saw was a floor littered with bodies. The sight was especially shocking because every corpse was clad in Exoskeleton Armor.
Fu Yuan even thought for a moment that he was hallucinating.
Even after accepting the fact that Lin Xinghai had wiped out all the enemies, he couldn’t help but walk over and touch one of the Exoskeleton Armors to confirm it wasn’t just a prop.
The answer, of course, was no, which left him even more overwhelmed.
’I originally thought Lin Xinghai was just fast,’ he mused, ’but I never expected his Attack Power to be this terrifying.’
He discovered that every enemy had been killed with a single shot, either to the heart or the head. The Exoskeleton Armor they wore might as well have been made of paper; it offered no protection whatsoever.
This made Fu Yuan suspect that Lin Xinghai could probably annihilate an entire Mecha Squad on his own.
It sounded like a tall tale, but then again, the man had just killed an entire combat team in Exoskeleton Armor within two seconds. If word of this got out, it would be just as unbelievable.
"Let’s go. We need to hurry." Lin Xinghai felt no particular sense of accomplishment. ’This was just a squad at the entrance. Our ultimate goal is to infiltrate the armory and sabotage it. The real trouble is probably still ahead!’
Seeing Lin Xinghai’s complete indifference to this achievement, Fu Yuan felt a crushing blow to his ego.
Something they found so astonishing meant nothing to him. It was a clear sign that they were not on the same level at all.
It made him feel like he was just dead weight.
In fact, it wasn’t just Fu Yuan; the other squad members felt much the same way.
Fortunately, as special forces soldiers, they were all professionally trained in emotional regulation. They quickly pushed aside these distracting thoughts and began to follow Lin Xinghai.
During the next leg of the journey, under Fu Yuan’s direction, the Wolf Hunting Squad quickly changed their operational plan. All members stopped thinking of themselves as the main force and instead took on purely support roles.
This new approach, it had to be said, was very much to Lin Xinghai’s liking, and their efficiency improved markedly.
The members of the Wolf Hunting Squad were now responsible for handling all the technical problems: controlling cameras, hacking electronic locks, and planning the best route based on enemy movements.
Under these new arrangements, they quickly passed through the first basement level and reached the second.
Here, they found an important facility that was on their list of targets to destroy.
It was the control center for the first and second basement levels. If they destroyed it, all the automated weapons on both floors would essentially lose their commander.
While the weapons wouldn’t be completely disabled, without the central control system to coordinate them, they would "attack chaotically" when encountering enemies.
For example, nearby defensive machine guns would only attack a single target, ignoring all others. This would cause the overall defense system’s effectiveness to drop by two entire tiers.
"Captain, based on the enemy’s patrol routes, we can’t enter the control center quietly. We’ll have to take out a squad," Fu Yuan said in a low voice.
Thanks to Ping Zeyan’s Superpower, they were standing openly in the corridor, the entire squad effectively invisible, allowing them to make their plans unhurriedly.
It was worth noting that the Wolf Hunting Squad’s master hacker, Huang Tianyu, had, through his persistent efforts, already broken into the enemy’s positioning system.
Now, they not only had a detailed map of the entire underground base but could also pinpoint the location of the armed militants based on the equipment they carried.
This was how they were able to predict the enemy’s patrol routes so accurately.
Hearing Fu Yuan’s report, Lin Xinghai just nodded calmly and asked, "Which squad do you think we should take out?"
"My recommendation is ’Squad 1.’ It would be best to finish the fight within 10 seconds of them reaching the target area," Fu Yuan said, opening his map and highlighting a zone for Lin Xinghai.
If they could end the battle in under 10 seconds, they would have enough time to clean up the scene before any other patrol squads noticed something was wrong.
"Alright, no problem," Lin Xinghai nodded.
Hearing this, the others felt a stir of excitement. The target they had chosen was just an ordinary patrol squad, and they had no doubt that Lin Xinghai could handle it smoothly.
The reason for their excitement was that they would finally get to see this powerhouse in action.
They were all dying to know how Lin Xinghai had managed to kill a fully armed squad in Exoskeleton Armor in such a short time. Perhaps this time they would get a glimpse of his methods.
The squad continued forward in silence. Guided by Lin Xinghai’s powerful Perception Power, they soon arrived at the target area without incident.
Then, with the help of Ping Zeyan’s Superpower, the entire team became invisible and silently waited for their prey to walk into the trap.
About a minute later, a patrol squad appeared from around a nearby corner.
Fu Yuan saw that while this squad wasn’t wearing Exoskeleton Armor, they were in full Combat Suits, lacking none of the standard equipment.
Furthermore, his own Perception told him that within this 10-man squad, there were at least three Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artists. The rest were, at minimum, the Optimized who had broken through Three Genetic Locks.
Honestly, a squad like this would be considered an elite unit even within the military system of their own East Sea Base.
After all, only a special forces team like theirs could boast a luxurious lineup composed entirely of Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artists.
For a regular team, the standard for an elite squad was simply having one Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artist.
And against an elite squad like this, even if the entire Wolf Hunting Squad attacked, it would normally take them at least 20 seconds to finish the fight—and that’s with the element of surprise.
After all, Blood and Qi Realm Martial Artists weren’t so easy to kill. Once they reacted and protected themselves with Blood Qi Power, they could theoretically hold out for a while.
But the more they considered this, the more curious they became about how Lin Xinghai could kill his enemies instantly.
Finally, under Fu Yuan’s watchful gaze, the patrol squad entered the five-meter radius around them—the designated target area.
At that moment, every member of the Wolf Hunting Squad fixed their eyes on Lin Xinghai, not daring to blink.
