This wasn’t a major issue for them, however. With Lin Xinghai’s Investigation Technique and Ping Zeyan’s Environmental Simulation Superpower, they could easily evade most dangers.

Even if they couldn’t, it didn’t matter. With Lin Xinghai on the team, he could eliminate any enemies in an instant. The only hassle was dealing with the bodies afterward.

As they made their way through the base, Lin Xinghai grew intensely curious about what exactly was being researched here.

So, he tried using his Perception Power to probe the area.

Unfortunately, the walls of the underground base were laced with a special metal that blocked his Perception Power.

Even when he forced his power through, its range was severely weakened.

He could see that the fourth level below them was filled with sophisticated instruments and bustling staff in white lab coats. But his range was too limited, and without the relevant technical knowledge, he had no way of knowing what they were studying.

’So the Body Shaping Realm experts are all down there,’ Lin Xinghai mused, stroking his chin. ’Whatever they’re researching must be a big deal.’

At this point, though, he had no interest in prying any further. The main assault was about to begin, after all.

Once they captured the base, they’d naturally find out what the enemy was studying.

Besides, with the enemy’s experts all concentrated below, it was even more advantageous for their infiltration and sabotage mission.

The intelligence officers hadn’t managed to get any intel on the bottom two levels, so the Military Department had assigned all their tasks to the first three floors.

"Captain, we’ll reach the Energy Room after the next left turn. There are sentries on duty there that you’ll need to handle," Fu Yuan said in a low voice.

Lin Xinghai gave a calm nod, extending his Perception Power in that direction. The corridors were unobstructed, allowing his Perception Power to easily cover a two-kilometer radius.

He immediately detected two armed guards standing watch at the entrance to the Energy Room.

Forcing his Perception Power through the door, he probed further and discovered a squad in Exoskeleton Armor inside.

"Tch! Whatever they’re studying on the bottom two levels must be serious. The security for a single Energy Room is even tighter than for the central control systems on the first two floors," Lin Xinghai couldn’t help but remark.

Hearing Lin Xinghai’s remark, Fu Yuan and the others were taken aback and immediately asked for details. Lin Xinghai didn’t hold back, telling them exactly what he had perceived.

"This... We should share this information with the other teams," Fu Yuan said after a moment’s thought. "I suspect the defenses for any area related to the labs on the bottom two levels will be a tier or two stronger. If the other teams aren’t careful, they could suffer heavy losses."

He didn’t dwell on what the enemy’s lab was researching. His reasoning was the same as Lin Xinghai’s.

It didn’t matter what they were studying. Once the base was taken, all would be revealed.

Lin Xinghai heard Fu Yuan’s suggestion and nodded in agreement. A warning like that was definitely necessary.

As they talked, their pace never slowed, and they rapidly closed in on the Energy Room.

"I’ll go first," Lin Xinghai stated as they reached the corner, then vanished from sight.

The others were already used to this. They maintained their pace and continued quickly toward the Energy Room.

They weren’t worried about being discovered. They all trusted that with Lin Xinghai’s Speed, the fight would be over by the time they arrived.

As expected, when they reached the entrance, they found two corpses lying on the ground.

Huang Tianyu, the team’s tech specialist, stepped forward with his device without needing to be told.

He hadn’t been idle on their way here. While he couldn’t seize full control of the third level, bypassing firewalls to control cameras and access panels was no problem at all.

So, when he pressed the device against the electronic lock, the door to the Energy Room slid open immediately.

At the same moment, Lin Xinghai’s figure flashed inside.

A series of soft, piercing sounds followed. This time, not a single person in the Exoskeleton squad inside had time to react before Lin Xinghai killed them all.

After all, this was the third level down. Neither the armed personnel nor the patrol teams would be on high alert.

In a situation like this, when the door suddenly opened, their first instinct was to find out what was happening, not to assume an enemy had infiltrated.

That was why they were all dead before they could even react to Lin Xinghai’s attack.

Fu Yuan and the others filed in and quickly began planting timed explosives throughout the Energy Room.

After emerging from the room, the group swiftly moved toward their final target: the armory.

"Captain, the armory should be the most heavily defended location on this level. There’s no way for us to get around the patrols directly," Fu Yuan said, looking at the digital map in his hand. "Based on my calculations, we’ll have to take out at least two patrol teams just to get close."

"Taking out two patrol squads? Isn’t that a bit much?" Lin Xinghai couldn’t help but ask.

The enemy wasn’t stupid. One patrol team disappearing might be explained away as them moving to a different sector.

But if two squads vanished at the same time, it would instantly draw the attention of the others. What Lin Xinghai feared most was them reporting the situation; if someone manually checked, they would definitely have a problem.

"Yes, taking out two patrol squads would very likely draw the attention of the surrounding teams."

"My suggestion is that we get close and wait. Ideally, with only thirty seconds left before the main assault begins, we force our way in, plant the bombs, and leave immediately. At that point, we won’t have to worry about being discovered," Fu Yuan suggested.

Any other team probably wouldn’t be able to force their way into a heavily defended strongpoint like the armory, even after the main assault began.

"Alright, we’ll do it your way," Lin Xinghai agreed.

When the group reached the vicinity of the armory, Ping Zeyan used his Superpower to conceal them all, hiding them right under the noses of a passing patrol.

From this distance, Lin Xinghai could launch an attack at any moment.

However, they had just concealed themselves when a loud BOOM echoed from the distance, followed by a faint tremor in the ground.

Sensing this change, Fu Yuan’s expression shifted. He lowered his voice and said, "One of the special ops teams has been discovered. The situation might change. Captain, should we make our move now?"
