Chapter 2032 - 2028: Hua Hai University
Li Yunhuo’s disappearance seemed ominous to Ye Fan. If he continued to be unable to locate Li Yunhuo, Ye Fan felt he had only one option to resolve this issue, which was to confront Pan Gu and Fu Xi after the heavenly tribulation. Only by defeating them might Li Yunhuo be able to regain his freedom.
But for Ye Fan, this held little significance.
"Is what the master worried about now that Li Yunhuo has revealed some ancient cultivator secrets, allowing Pan Gu and Fu Xi to enhance their cultivation, possibly to the point of facing the heavenly tribulation alone?" Xi He asked with a furrowed brow.
Ye Fan shook his head and said, "I am not worried about Pan Gu and Fu Xi facing the heavenly tribulation alone, but rather that they might gain too many secrets from Li Yunhuo, secrets that could impact future cosmic stability. After the heavenly tribulation, if these two do not confront me directly, it will be very difficult to find them, and that is the most troublesome thing!"
"They won’t," Xi He shook her head and replied, "With Pan Gu’s and Fu Xi’s stature, they wouldn’t hide themselves to the extent that they avoid the master. They will definitely come out to face the master in a decisive battle. At that time, it’s likely the master will face simultaneous attacks from both. Their cultivation is truly terrifying; I am not even comparable to the slightest of their cultivation prowess. Therefore, I won’t be able to provide any assistance to the master in such a situation!"
Ye Fan looked at Xi He and said, "Whatever. I don’t need you all to do anything; you just need to accomplish your own tasks. Since the secrets on Heavenly Peak Mountain cannot be discovered for now, you should return, as I need to stay here for a while!"
"Farewell, master!" Though Xi He didn’t know what Ye Fan intended to do, she understood that his actions wouldn’t affect her much, so she simply took her leave.
Ye Fan stood alone at the apex of Heavenly Peak Mountain, observing the surroundings, seemingly in search of the hidden secrets here.
"Even observers as perceptive as Pan Gu and Fu Xi found no clues here; it appears genuinely devoid of secrets. But I’ve always felt that many mysteries have existed from the beginning, and if I earnestly seek them out, I will surely find the answers!"
Ye Fan sensed a change in the surrounding energies. Within this energetic shift, he could discern a force that felt very familiar to him, seemingly related to elemental power.
"Has Li Yunhuo truly disappeared, or has he hidden himself? Logically, he couldn’t escape from Pan Gu and Fu Xi, yet now they, too, have vanished. This is quite bizarre. Before the heavenly tribulation, I probably won’t find any clues!"
After searching Heavenly Peak Mountain for a time, Ye Fan found no leads and decided to return to Earth.
The heavenly tribulation was very near, and he was facing an imminent assault from its forces. For now, he needed to nurture Lan Jing and take care of some personal matters along the way.
...
...
Upon returning to Earth, Ye Fan headed straight for Hua Hai University.
At that moment, Qin Mengyao and Yang Xiaoting were in the dormitory at Hua Hai University.
The two girls had taken some time off previously, and back at school, they weren’t very focused on their studies. To them, staying at Hua Hai University was a source of happiness, offering them some classmates to interact with. However, they were disappointed because the heavenly tribulation was approaching fast.
Qin Mengyao lay in bed, refusing to get up, insisting on sleeping a bit longer. She felt that only by indulging lazily could she truly savor the wonderful college days. Yang Xiaoting, on the other hand, was more diligent, tidying her dirty clothes and energetically doing her laundry, believing that looking clean and pretty would make her more noticeable to those she liked.
After a while, seeing Qin Mengyao was still not up, Yang Xiaoting called her to wake up. "Yaoyao, get up, stop slacking! Have some ambitions in life, will you?"
"Oh, Xiaoxiao, let me sleep a bit longer. College days are so fleeting; wouldn’t it be a shame not to enjoy them fully?" Qin Mengyao, half-asleep, rolled over, seemingly unwilling to get up and ignoring Yang Xiaoting’s suggestions, continuing to sleep.
"You’ve slept too much during the day; I won’t keep you company at night. Don’t call for me; I’ll pretend I can’t hear. Didn’t you say yesterday you wanted to review your lessons? And now you’re pushing your own words aside?" Yang Xiaoting remarked while shaking Qin Mengyao, determined to wake her up.
"I’ll revise tomorrow; I’m not going to miss a day of homework. You go ahead and study, and teach me later; wouldn’t that be fine? As long as one of us is diligent, we’re good." Qin Mengyao said several things but still showed no intention of getting up, turning her back to Yang Xiaoting, feeling a bit bothered by the nagging.
"Alright then, I won’t bother you anymore. You can figure it out yourself; even the Earth can’t wake you from your resolve to sleep." Yang Xiaoting didn’t call Qin Mengyao further, understanding that talking too much would only annoy her. Consequently, she chose to quietly do what she liked.
Yang Xiaoting pondered silently, wondering what she should do. Persuading Qin Mengyao to study was futile; she figured better to focus on her own academics. College days shouldn’t be wasted sleeping. With that thought, Yang Xiaoting quickly found her textbooks and went to the study room to spend the rest of the day.
It was already evening, and there weren’t many people in the study room. The vast classroom had only a few scattered individuals, each occupying a corner, as if afraid of disturbing each other, which was suitable for Yang Xiaoting’s mood; she wished for quiet, enjoying her reading.
In an unspecified amount of time, Yang Xiaoting felt someone sit beside her. Turning around, it was unexpectedly Ye Fan.
She widened her eyes, thinking maybe she’d been reading too long or had fallen asleep from reading, wondering how Ye Fan could appear in Hua Hai.
"You’re quite focused on your reading; you didn’t even notice me coming in." Ye Fan looked at Yang Xiaoting appreciatively, noting that she looked very pretty.
"Am I imagining things, Fan, how did you come here silently? You should have given me a heads-up before coming..." said Yang Xiaoting, feeling a bit shy as Ye Fan watched her, twirling her fingers, speaking with a hint of coyness.
"If I told you in advance, wouldn’t I miss seeing this lovely scene? A girl who loves to read is very beautiful." Ye Fan smiled. "Why isn’t Yaoyao here? Aren’t you two usually together?"
"That lazy Yaoyao hasn’t gotten up yet; she just won’t wake up no matter how much I call her. If she knows Fan is here, she’d regret it terribly. I’ll go call her right now." Yang Xiaoting laughed and dashed back to the dormitory; she wanted to immediately tell Qin Mengyao the good news.
