Chapter 1989 - 1985: The Responsibility of Ye Fan’s Women
Ye Fan and Lan Jing saw the second secret realm—a land of scorched earth—different from the world that Pan Gu and Fu Xi saw.
Both sides seemed to be in different planes, unaffected by each other. Even though Pan Gu and Fu Xi knew Ye Fan was there, they still couldn’t track Ye Fan’s whereabouts. They tried to navigate through the mist to Ye Fan’s plane, but the strength of this force was so formidable that even someone like Pan Gu and Fu Xi couldn’t achieve it.
Ye Fan was exploring the scorched earth of the second secret realm. He was curious why this once flourishing realm had turned into what lay before him. He didn’t know how many secrets were hidden within.
"Ye Fan, this place is terrifying. We should leave. I can sense many dangers lurking here," Lan Jing said with her keen sense of smell. She could feel those unknown dangers and found the place too frightening, wanting to leave with Ye Fan.
"Only in dangerous places can we find unknown clues. Lan Jing, don’t be afraid. With the two of us here, even if danger arises, I’ll protect you," Ye Fan said. "We found the seventh crystal before, and if we can continue to find clues here, perhaps our abilities will further enhance. If we want to counter the heavenly tribulation, we can only keep searching. Giving up halfway would be irresponsible for both of us."
Although unwilling, Lan Jing nodded in resignation since Ye Fan had said so.
The two continued their search for over an hour without finding any clues. Instead, Ye Fan noticed that Pan Gu and Fu Xi seemed to have arrived here.
"Pan Gu and Fu Xi must’ve sensed my presence here. They’ve come tracking me, but I can’t feel their aura. They’re in the same place as us yet are able to hide their presence from each other. The only explanation is that this second secret realm underwent changes that even they couldn’t control, trapping them here..." Ye Fan said.
Lan Jing appeared confused and said, "Ye Fan, I’m not sure I understand what you mean. What does this have to do with Pan Gu and Fu Xi?"
Ye Fan said, "Of course, it does. This is a world created by Pan Gu and Fu Xi, so they should be very familiar with it. Moreover, I’ve always suspected that the changes here were actually caused by them. Now it seems they’re also clueless about what’s happening here."
"Oh." Lan Jing nodded slightly, seemingly understanding.
At that moment, the seventh small crystal on Lan Jing’s shoulder suddenly "chirp chirp chirp chirp," much softer than before, as if it had discovered something familiar. Ye Fan also sensed a faint force approaching, and he moved towards it.
"Ye Fan, it seems like there’s some kind of energy," Lan Jing said, eventually feeling it herself. "Very similar to the crystal energy. Could it be that we’ve found a clue?"
"It’s still uncertain. We need to go over and check to know for sure. Stay behind me, and if any danger arises, stick with the crystal—it’ll be easier for me to protect you," Ye Fan said.
"Okay." Lan Jing hid behind Ye Fan, seeming to enjoy the feeling of being protected.
...
...
On earth, at Tantai Wanrong’s home, Zhao Tianya was still taking care of the somewhat vacant Tantai Wanrong.
"...Elder sister, when will you wake up? It’s been days, and seeing you like this worries me to death. Can’t you just improve a little and talk to me, or let me rant about Ye Fan?" Zhao Tianya was very frustrated because Tantai Wanrong seemed like a walking corpse. This state made her feel like she could become this way at any moment, harboring not only concern for Tantai Wanrong but also uncertainty about her own future.
Tantai Wanrong still stared blankly at her, not responding to any questions.
"It’s all Ye Fan’s fault. If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t be like this. He promised to protect you, but in my view, Ye Fan is the world’s most irresponsible man, lacking even the basic sense of duty—disheartening!" Zhao Tianya rebuked emphatically.
At that moment, a voice came from outside the window: "You’d better not slander someone who cares about you."
The voice came so unexpectedly that it startled Zhao Tianya. She stood up and shouted angrily in the voice’s direction: "Who?"
Then a figure descended from the sky—it was none other than Xi He, who had some past grievances with her and was actually the culprit behind Tantai Wanrong’s current condition.
Zhao Tianya recognized Xi He. She remembered Xi He had kidnapped Tantai Wanrong, and when Tantai Wanrong returned, she was comatose, even losing her awareness after waking.
"What are you here for?" Zhao Tianya saw Xi He but not Ye Fan, which made her feel uneasy. At this moment, she realized how important Ye Fan’s protection was, at least ensuring the woman before her wouldn’t dare act rashly.
Xi He walked over, examining Tantai Wanrong’s condition, and said, "This woman hasn’t given herself to the master, which was her biggest mistake. If she became the master’s woman, she’d never be in this state. Those truly hurting her aren’t me or those mysterious forces, but herself."
"What are you saying? Trying to evade responsibility?" Zhao Tianya said angrily.
"I don’t need to evade any responsibility in front of a human," Xi He said. "The reason she’s like this isn’t because of anything I did to her but because her body contains too much power that’s not hers. Apparently, you, the master’s women, are starting to assume your due responsibilities. Before the heavenly tribulation, your powers will also increase, and only then can you fulfill your role in assisting the master; otherwise, you’ll be mere puppets with no status."
Zhao Tianya said, "We don’t need your lectures. What becomes of us is our own matter and has nothing to do with you."
Xi He said, "Perhaps. You can ignore it yourselves, but the master can’t. I’m here to find a way to awaken her."
Having said that, Xi He placed her hand on Tantai Wanrong’s head, seemingly aiming to infuse some kind of force.
Zhao Tianya wanted to rush over, yelling angrily, "Get away, don’t harm my elder sister!"
