Iron Blood Earl Riccianne

Chapter 7. Duke of Robyn (1)

Hundreds of eyes are nervous, looking at the approaching men on horseback. The shoulders converge inward, the neck is throbbing and the feet are constantly staggering as if they don't know what to do.

He was wearing armor together. Some had steel plates attached to them, some had leather armor on them, and some had wooden armor. The common thing for those dressed in all these different styles was that they were wearing armor on their bodies, but they had no weapons in their hands.

The Stragglers. But not the Stragglers lost in battle or war. They climbed up next to the Tent of the First Men and became defeated without firing an arrow.

Pretend!

There is a large path between the stragglers, and the heavy footsteps echo through it. As if training had been good, the steps were united, making it sound as if one person was walking, and the eyes of the soldiers shined with determination. The Spear of the Iron Spear, which was erected toward the sky, was emitting a light from the sun.

In front of them were twenty knights riding horses, and in front of them were four men without armor riding slowly.

“I didn't think you'd do this.... ”

It was Caith who spoke in a strange voice with both anxiety and relief. The answer came from Lycaen's side-by-side mouth.

“I wonder. ”

“You know what? He's not just anyone. He's Duke Robyn. ”

Duke Lovane died fighting, but he was never one to lift his own breath. It was natural that the army led by the Duke of Robyn would feel strange. On the other hand, he was relieved that he didn't have to fight the revered Duke of Robyn.

“Duke Lobein is not the one who lifted his hand.... ”

Caith nods, nodding his head as if he was thinking the same in Riyaen's uneasy voice.

“Yes, that's why I'm more nervous. You don't think someone else put you up to this? ”

There was only one thing that meant that someone other than the general commander of the army had risen to power. It means the General has a bill of exchange. And there was only one thing that could happen to a normal person until yesterday.

A situation in which other commanders, who are not confident in fighting and winning, are defeating the commander in general and raising their spirits.

“No way…. ”

Lycaen shakes his head and denies his words. It was because Duke Robyn couldn't have been stupid enough to let an ally do that to him, and not anyone else.

But Caith was still an unsettled face.

“If only. I'm gonna wipe them all out! ”

Kaith grunts with a lively voice, as if he had never thought that he might have to fight the Duke of Robyn with his own hands.

In fact, we were surrounding the royal army's camp on horseback with archers, so we could do as much as we wanted.

Earl Poldenbine, who was standing behind, said in a soft voice.

“Duke Lovane is not so slow to get his hands on an ally. So don't worry too much. ”

The last person to speak to him was Fabentus.

“I've heard stories, but I don't think Duke Robyn would have done that. ”

Meanwhile, the four men arrive in front of the tent with a massive white-hot ridge. I didn't know from afar, but I came closer and saw that there were quite a lot of cloths attached to it, and it seemed to be an urgently made item with scattered energy marks.

And the curtain at the entrance to the tent was opened. A man in his mid-50s, without even armor, said in a calm voice.

“Welcome. I've been waiting.”

Earl Poldenbine said that Lycaen and Caith had seen it somewhere, but they couldn't quite remember who it was and couldn't answer right away.

“It's been a long time, Earl Hayston. ”

He was one of the finest men in the northern kingdom.

Earl Hayston nods with an awkward smile.

“Indeed. It is not a pleasant situation to face Lord Poldenbine like this. ”

“You never know when or how the world will change. ”

Four men step down toward the tent, and Earl Hayston steps aside at the entrance to the tent.

The first thing you notice is the long meeting table in Lycaen's eyes. The table was sitting long in the direction of the entrance to the tent, and the Duke of Robyn was sitting opposite the entrance, and other lords were sitting around him with complex expressions.

“Welcome. ”

Duke Robain stands up with a short greeting, and the other lords rise up one by one.

In the meantime, the four men on Lycaen's side step into the tent and take their places. Earl Poldenbine is located just ahead of the entrance, and Lycaen, Caith and Paventus are centered on him from side to side.

“You've taken a difficult step. ”

Earl Polden bows his head lightly in the words of Duke Robain.

“You've made a difficult decision. ”

“Haha, what's the big deal? ”

“Please take your seats first. ”

Even though it was the royal army's tent, the owner of the tent was Licagien, because it was already a white courtyard. Earl Poldenbine gives the seat first, then rests on the chair, and then the others sit on the chair.

The story, of course, led by Earl Poldenbine.

“I don't know if this is a good fit, but I want you to feel comfortable talking about it. ”

The story, of course, was about postwar treatment. The elite commanders, including the lords who participated in the Royal Army, decided to retire to the Eigen White Writing camp unarmed, and the soldiers also decided to accommodate all unarmed Eigen White Writing camps. It included temporary pensions and detention until the end of the war, and the awarding of the status of everyone after the war.

I'm familiar with Derek's character, so no one seems anxious even when the pension is determined. Moreover, there were some who thought it was safe to be here because they didn't know what would happen if they returned to the king in a situation where they had never fought before.

The only one of them who became free without an annuity was Duke of Robyn. He said he would return to the king to take responsibility for this defeat.

“I don't think you need to do this. ”

Lycaen asks, gazing at the moving lords, surrounded by knights, without any heavy artillery.

“No, I have to. ”

The person who answered was Duke Rovain, looking at the same place as Riyaen.

Lycaen slowly turns his gaze and looks at Duke Robyn. Seeing the duc expressing as resolute as an unhesitant answer, I nodded with an unfair look.

He was able to understand Duke Robyn's mind a little bit. Although he could no longer be called a true king, the Duke of Lobain was a longevity commanded by that king. If the Duke himself is not responsible for the defeat, he will not be able to tolerate himself.

This was the same context as Riccianne's cold defeat of Duke Goron about a year ago.

That's why Lycaen truly failed to stop the Duke of Robyn. It was clear to me how the Mad King would punish Duke Robyn, but there was nothing I could do. We can stop the Duke of Robyn from taking him down right now, but that would almost break his heart.

Therefore, I no longer actively withheld. I was just saying a quiet hello.

“Take care. ”

Duke Robain nods casually, seeing Ricaien bowing his head politely.

“That's a lot to worry about. Who would do me any harm? ”

Looking for Duke Robyn with a relaxing smile, Lycaen looks forward to another word.

“And I hope to see you again soon. ”

Duke Robyn said with a genuine face.

“Haha, I hope so, too. ”

If Acrobat or mountain ranges in the south-eastern part of the continent are famous for their enormous deposits of iron ore and for their long war beginnings in the Brent and Luo kingdoms, the Kalumen Mountains were by far the best on the continent.

Route Mountain, which is responsible for a single stalk of such mountain ranges, was also harsh. If you start climbing the Route Mountain from the east, you'll have to cross a long canyon called the Tverin Canyon.

The width by which a wagon can barely pass. Given that it is a mountain path, it is not that narrow, but in the distant past it was one of the trade routes between the east and the west.

On the left and right side of the road, a vertical rising rock wall pierced the sky, creating a narrow terrain between the two rocks as it climbed up. It meant that the slope of the cliff that was blocking the left and right crossed vertically.

Due to the terrain, the sunlight in this canyon was extremely short on sunny days without clouds all day long. For this reason, the canyon path was always dark and damp, and the left and right cliffs were covered with unnamed mosses.

Just by the narrow passage in the canyon and the high cliffs on both sides, it was the best place to set an ambush. If you block the way between the cliffs and attack with bows, stones, etc. from top to bottom, you can fight with ease.

There are only arrows below. The height to the top of the cliff is very high, and the distance between the top and right cliffs is narrow, so even if you shoot an arrow, you can't hit the cliff properly.

But I've never actually used this place as an ambush. Too good a place for an ambush, because the enemy anticipates and defends against ambushes. In other words, it was one of the absolute conditions for an ambush. Moreover, the way up the cliff is not surprisingly far, and it is a very bad place to ambush if you are isolated from the cliff.
