Isaac

Burning Newport City (2)

“Count Anton, are you disregarding the glorious Heavy Armored Knights of the late? ”

“That's not it…. ”

“With the strength of the Knights, that wall and barricade will be enough for one day! ”

“What a day! It'll only take half a day!”

“Half a day is too long! ”

“No! You need half a day to eat, rest, and relax. ”

“Khahaha! That's it! ”

Dyke and the Knights chief cheer for a witty joke.

“Too bad we don't have a woman. When you get to Newport City, call on those famous blue roses to make the most of it! ”

The knights cheer for Dyke's cry, and Anton leans away from the ballroom with his lips cut off.

“Hmph! How did you become the Earl's Blade because you were so scared of the incompetent guy who couldn't even get off campus?“ ”

Dyke's ridicule settles in Anton's ear. I grew up as a servant of the Marquis and acquired the swordsmanship's talent. I pledged my allegiance to the Marquis's grace for getting here and raising myself, but I could not find a place with the Knight Master.

The Heavy Armored Knights were the strongest knights poured out by the baron, so they couldn't take the risk of handing the title over to someone other than their own kin. So even though he was barely able to graduate from campus military school, Dyke had to take the knights' position just because he was from campus in his immediate family, and even though Anton had the title, he was the deacon of the Marquis.

When protesting powerlessly in Newport City, he used to flirt with noblewomen in Port City. You ordered the assault of the helpless women despite Anton's opposition.

As a result, the fact that the knight assaulted a woman was humiliating, so absurd bounties were forcibly returned to the Marquis to keep their secret, and they had to hide their faces within the territory.

“Phew... What's he up to? ”

Isaac clearly has a plan, not a struggle to survive. It was clear that they had built barricades and walls in the form of a siege around the Meta District, rather than defending the Theta District, but they did not know its intentions.

No matter how strong the barricades are, the Knights' power can penetrate them in less than an hour. A knight with a siege warhammer used on strong walls as well as a basic piece of equipment. Simple buildings can be demolished in an instant.

“Why don't you run away if you're going to destroy yourself? ”

Some of the Marquis are talking about losing a battle on purpose. Even if the funded Fort Shiga wins and the Grand Prize Winner loses, the City of Newport will be bankrupt without receiving a substantial gambling dividend.

Many agreed that the Marquis would not be able to document the first battle of the Heavy Armored Knights proudly given back the cheerful revenge that Isaac inflicted on Fort Shi.

“Are you sure you're just being mean? ”

Anton's muttering voice shakes his head as he walks down an empty street. I still can't get over Isaac's reckless gaze. As a child wandering around the battlefield to gain practical experience, I saw a man with the same eyes as Isaac once.

A retired mercenary close to retirement. The one who killed the soldiers who cried for their lives with no emotion. The man who died from a fatal wound at Anton's hand and laughed as he died.

Watching Isaac reminds me of him.

“Oh, someone already robbed this place. ”

“Let's hurry and search somewhere else. ”

“You said Marcone Jo had nothing to do with it. ”

“Someone hid the money and found it worth 3,000 gigawatts! ”

“Oh, pair! I should have been there! Hmm?"

Anton encountered a group of mercenaries who were leaving the alley while having a long conversation. The mercenaries who found Anton are flabbergasted, smiling and greeting each other with a dry smile.

“Greetings, Knight. ”

“What are you doing? ”

“Well, it's no big deal, just in case they're hiding. ”

“ ……. ”

Contrary to the search, the mercenaries' backpacks contained items worth quite a bit of money.

Anton sighs powerlessly and passes by the mercenaries, furious.

I don't know why they brought in those garbage mercenaries, but Anton doesn't have the authority to sanction them until the war begins. Even if they are empowered, there is no chance that those who are named after garbage will listen.

“That's messed up.”

If the right commander had seen it, there was a situation with tongues everywhere. I could see him teasing around the place, gathering drinks and boasting about the loot, whether he brought it from the village or the store.

In this situation, even if I could not stand guard properly, I was sure that I would listen to them until I watched closely.

Even the knights who have to beat the steel are on patrol, so Anton can't help but sigh.

“The wind is strong. ”

War is also largely indirect. Especially when a geographically important distribution hub such as Newport City enters a state of war, all supplies concentrated in the region will have to wait for the end of the war.

Especially now is the harvest season, when supplies can be transported quickly using the continuous strong winds blowing from south to north called sighs of wind. All kinds of goods produced in the Southern Grain Belt came up to Newport City with a sigh of wind, and the ships from each region carried the southern goods back, so the southern goods had to rot the most damage.

“But we have to be careful about the risk of fire. ”

Anton sits everywhere, campfire-burning, whispering to mercenaries who enjoy alcohol and meat. In this windy time, if the fire burns, it will spread uncontrollably.

Anton stops and looks at the vacant dockside as he passes by the shipyard to go to the shelter where the mercenary commanders are gathering.

A total of six boats were in a pier in the Meta District. The ships Merritt and Tsuroben were on standby after transporting the Heavy Armored Knights to a ship owned by the Marquis, while the other four Medium-sized ships were on standby for transporting goods stolen by the Fulhammer Mercenaries. No, should have been on standby.

“Hey! Where'd the boats go? ”

Anton looks at the medium-sized sailors leaving the dock, and approaches the mercenaries roasting unknown meat in the corner of the shipyard and asks.

“The shipper asked me to evacuate as soon as possible. ”

“At this hour? ”

“This is not a time-sensitive business. ”

Anton frowns at the behavior of the drunken mercenaries while giggling. Garbage that doesn't even have basic skills. He hurried out of the shipyard, as if he were in the same place.

Although it is not an exhibition but an ordinary situation, it is normal to deploy a border guard to protect the ship, but there are no guards that will set a proper perimeter without a knight patrol on an ongoing drinking board and a definite outcome of caution.

The ship's circumstances are the same, so the crew of the ship after sailing according to customs enjoy a short vacation. A handful of unfortunate sailors were left on the ship with no sense of mission, so they fell asleep drunk amongst themselves, and commanders like the captain and sailor to manage were attending the all-round banquet to catch the attention of the baron, Dyke.

A man, looking at the compassion around him, carefully sticks out his face from the surface below the crevice of a large sailboat that connects the missions closely, muttering with a hollow expression.

“This is too much, right? ”

“Shh! Be quiet. Let's just get this over with. ”

Dozens of heads start to come up on the surface, paying attention to the grumbling man.

“You all know what you're doing, right? Don't be careless.”

“Why should I puncture a healthy ship? ”

“I know. It's too small a hole to make it bigger. It's too demanding. ”

“When did you ever understand what he was doing? If you want to keep bragging, move fast. ”

Dozens of sleek shadows creep into the boat without a sound and then leave. One of them climbs to the top of the main mast, takes a brief look at the scenery, and starts spinning a little green magic from his chest.

The unpopular meta earth is filled with extinguished darkness and silence, and a palpable light spreads around the brightly lit shipyard, and the sound of laughter breaks through the silence.

Isaac rises to the rooftop of the tallest building on the wall, facing the Meta District.

“W-what is all this? ”

Codnell and his followers following Isaac to the roof made an unbelievable look on his face. Between the building and the building, a wall is built up and connected. The elves and the Northbears have been busy moving about for some time now.

“What the hell is your plan?! ”

The four remaining people in Newport City were appalled at Isaac's sudden behavior, and Isaac pretended not to hear it.

“I'm hungry, bake it quickly. ”

“Yes.”

A Northbearer boy presses Isaac into a cauldron full of charcoal and starts grilling enormous meat.

“What are elves doing? My ears are boring. Try playing some exciting music. Do you want me to do it? ”

The elves holding instruments in Isaac's half-threat have started playing in a frenzy, and the Northbears have come up with a variety of drinks.

There was a party to laugh, talk, eat and drink, but Codnell and his followers couldn't join the atmosphere at all.

“Hohoho, don't just stand there and have a drink. ”

Milena smiles and gives out a glass full of alcohol. After receiving the cup in a daze, Isaac buries himself in a plush chair with a clear view of the front.

“I'm getting a signal. ”

After emptying his glass of cigarettes and holding it, Isaac, who was followed by Rizzley, turns his head to Solands' cry, finds a faint circle of green looking at the lake, takes out a new cigarette, puts it in his mouth, lights it up, and lets out a long sip and mutters.

“How many lives? ”

As Isaac watches, one or two flashes of light begin to appear on the maw of black darkness, just like the abyss around the shipyard.
