Doug Sightings ⑤ - Supper
"Thank you for waiting. Ah. BBQ on the back and hips."
Two large wooden plates of white hot air were placed somewhere on the table.
What is on it is freshly baked caron meat that emits a truly aromatic aroma.
It was such a huge piece of meat that it was likely to stick out of a large plate about 30 cm in diameter, and it was about 2 cm thick, what a luxurious look.
Which is meat on the back and which is meat on the hips. I don't see any significant difference in appearance. It appears to have been baked with an iron net rather than an iron plate, with a grilling color on the surface in a lattice.
That's how he waited for the number of people's wooden plates and wooden spoons to be served before Zashma took up the meat cutting knife provided with "Well".
"You were talking about the forest people being forbidden to wear the same plates as the people in the other house, weren't you? I'll cut it off first, so take it with you."
"Oh, I'll take your place, if you like?
"No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Zashma had such a fun look on her face that I decided to take on the role of distributing the cut meat.
While the meat is even covered with wooden skewers, Zashma cuts a giant piece of meat about two centimeters wide. Just sayin ', it's quite a smooth knife judgment. Doug was not born in Dada, I guess that means.
Transfer the cut meat to each person's wooden plate and turn it one after the other. Just when the work was done, your daughter came close to her hands again with a large plate.
"Yes, this is Fuwano. Hi. Be careful, it's still hot."
A round baked fuwano, reminiscent of a pizza without utensils, is stacked neatly. The aroma of caron milk and milk fat, which would have been condensed before being baked, stimulates my appetite.
"Okay, I'll take that, then."
Using Zashma's voice as a signal, we took the wooden skewer.
but that's where Dan-Rutim gives a voice that sounds a lot too bad.
"What, isn't this meat cooked raw?"
"Yeah? Yeah, that's a sign that this guy uses fresh meat. You'd have tasted raw meat in the daytime, wouldn't you?
"Uhm. If it was Giva's meat, I wouldn't be allowed to cook it raw. Wouldn't this beast meat, like caron, taste better if it was cooked often?
Blurring, Dan-Rutim cheeked up a giant piece of meat in one bite.
And within the bite of that meat, the thick brow that was coming slowly opens.
"Hmm! But this raw roasted meat seems quite delicious"
Raw baking, which was about medium rare.
I carry that meat into my mouth with great expectations, too.
It was too big for my mouth, so I scratched it in about a third of the amount, but it was soft enough to chew it off without difficulty.
The baked area on the surface is fragrant and the inner meat is juicy. The amount of gravy is impeccable and the fat feels snug and sweet.
The taste was probably salty.
Other than that, it tastes like direct meat.
It has a taste reminiscent of a rather fine beef sirloin steak.
"If it doesn't taste good enough, you should paint this one"
And, Zashma turns a small pot.
Inside, the carved raw meermoo was perfectly packed.
When I put the guy on the meat just a little bit, the flavor jumped exceptionally.
As much as I would like to cover it with a sauce for steaks that I usually make if I say greed, this is delicious enough.
The other meat also scratched. Instead of being low in fat, the meat stirred up surprisingly.
Though almost lean, it is no less soft than just as much meat. It has a refreshing but very rich flavour, reminiscent of lamp meat.
"For one thing, is it the lower fat on this one the meat on your hips?
"Oh, my hip, it's butt meat. If you don't beat him up with a proper leather whip every day, you're not gonna put it on this soft ass meat, are you?
Whatever the veracity of the theory, it was very tasty meat.
Even at the table next door, Mim said, "It's delicious!" He shouts out loud.
"Karon had only ever spoken of foot meat, but meat on the back and hips is such a delicious thing!
"Oh, I can only eat foot meat in the Inn Town of Genos. This guy's gonna pay twice as much for copper, but he's gonna want to eat it, right?
"That's true. I envy the people in Castle Town!
But it seemed like Mime and Barsha were the ones who looked satisfied at your table.
In other words, the women by the woods were biting the meat lightly.
"Oh, my God, you guys seem to have enough. I knew you missed giva meat?
When Zashma asked, Raina-Lou spoke up on behalf of the same.
"No, I'm not dissatisfied for once...... it feels like a shame that I only use salt and myrmu. I think it would be a lot different if I just covered Pico's leaves first and hung a simple soot."
"Oh, the people by the woods were soaking meat in Pico leaves, not salt. Sure, Pico's leaves are going to fit Caron too."
"Yes, so the deliciousness is delicious, but I'm worried about that part... and I think we're better suited to our mouths because we're eating Giva's meat"
"I don't need to look so sorry for anything. I'm sure I'd feel the same way if I ate Giva's meat without salt."
Laughing luxuriously, Zashma soaked the fruit liquor.
"But you mean there's nothing sticky about eating so much better caron meat? I'm just a little bit interested in Giva meat, too."
Yes, it was actually Zashma, who used to visit our stalls every once in a while as a guard and liaison officer, but he hadn't even spoken a bite of Giva's cooking yet.
I initially wondered if Zashma, the people of the west, was strongly willing to repel Gibba, but maybe that was because he loved Karon's flesh so much.
"Sure, well, if you ask me which tastes better than Gibba's Suki, I won't hesitate to pick Gibba either. People by the woods should eat the grace of the woods, so naturally."
Saying so, Dan-Rutim also sips off the fruit liquor from the drink cup in one bite.
"And this fruit liquor. It's strangely sweet, and I don't feel weak about alcohol. What the hell does this guy taste like?
"This guy is cracked with lamb juice and caron whey or something. If you don't like it, why don't you make it taste different next time?
"Well, if there's another flavor, it's something I'd really like to try!
"You're frightened. Did you empty the other bottle? Even if it's diluted, 70% of it's liquor."
Laughing, Barsha fills her own drink.
And when I realized that Sheila-Lou's cup was empty, and took away your earthen bottle, Barsha's eyes rounded properly.
"Did you already drink up?
"Yes. You were weaker in alcohol than the fruit liquor you get by the woods. I thought it was easy to drink on the street."
Even if it's easy to drink, maybe Mammalia's fruit liquor is about as alcoholic as wine. Although divided by fruit juice and the like, Sheila-Lou smiled calmly, even though he was emptying one earthen bottle with a capacity of about a litre.
"That's three extras, then. Hey, now bring me three fruit liquors divided by aloof!
While Zashma was ordering, I let her eat the fuwano.
More dusty than Poitan, and finished with caron milk and milk fat rather than water, Baked Fuwano had a truly milky taste. It's like draining sugar and eggs from a hot cake, so I'm probably treating it.
"Yes, Alou Split Fruit Liquor, thank you for waiting. Plus, mackerel with vegetables and a pot of cheese."
and a new earthen bottle and a large wooden dish, along with a small pot for the number of people, are arranged.
The wood dish was loaded with vegetables covered with something snug and white.
And pot-baked cheese was what a hot, melted cheese itself was.
"There's steamed vegetables in this pot. The milking of vegetables - well, it would be quicker to have them eaten than to explain."
At this table, I, at the women's table, Rimi-Lou will take the dispenser and divide the vegetable's milking dish into wood plates.
The vegetables were Aria, Tino and Nennon, and the snug objects covered there seemed close to yogurt for texture.
I can also smell it slightly sour when I lean over my nose.
This is an ingredient I didn't even see in the castle town of Genos, and while I was curious, I tried to get Tino to my mouth first.
Again, it is an acidity reminiscent of yogurt.
There is also salt gas, but it is more sweet or mellow than that of caron milk. It also had a refreshing flavor that washed away the fat from the BBQ.
So, the vegetables at the heart are softened up quite a bit because of the sourness, sweetness and saltiness.
This was rarely a fermented food.
The smell isn't that tough, but as for the atmosphere, it's close to soaked. The shallow marinade made of yogurt seemed to be the closest flavor in the cuisine I knew.
"This one's a whisper, but it's a Doug's specialty dish. A lot of people wouldn't like it, but it would go well with caron meat, wouldn't it?
"Nice. I like the taste. How the hell can we process caron's milk in this way?
The answer was to be spoken from Michelle's mouth, not Zashma's.
"This guy's got the milk of a squeezed caron stuffed in his bowels. Caron's milk, thus entrapped in the intestines, becomes less prone to rot, due to increased acidity and stickiness. It must be a dish made with salted vegetables soaked in the milk of the caron that was made."
"Heh! Can you even use caron's milk like that?
Speaking with an intriguing smile, Mim blocks his own mouth like "Shit".
but I thought I'd been staring at my father's grumpy side for a while, and eventually he looked off and said, "... every dish is delicious, huh?," he continued.
"Right," Michelle said in a low voice, and Mim smiles relieved.
Even if I didn't intervene badly, maybe the parent-child fight was already bad for the end of the war.
"Can you eat the pot while it's still cold? If you're blurry, the cheese will harden."
As in, Zashma shouts out loud again.
Indeed, this dish called kettle roasting of cheese was no less interesting than the milking of vegetables.
Every pot containing human fists is poured with melted cheese. This must be pretty good as an inn dish, because even caron cheese should be a pretty fancy ingredient, even if not as good as gamma.
So, the identity was exactly what just stuffed the steamed vegetables in the melted cheese.
There are three varieties of vegetables, Aria, Nennon and Tino, as well as milking, in short, like a cheese fondue with ingredients from the beginning.
The flavor is perfect. Besides, the fact that it still retains a lot of semi-liquid form even after so long, it seems that ingredients other than cheese are also used in trace amounts.
Asked, Zashma tilted her neck, "I don't know," as she mouthed the same dish.
"I guess they usually use fuwano powder or whey or something, but I don't know that much about it either. I've never made such a luxurious dish on a ranch."
"What is whey? I thought you said it was mixed with fruit liquor."
"Whey is the water that comes out when you make cheese. I hear noble princesses apply milk fat and whey to their skin?
Then is that the so-called Wha?
I'm not that familiar with cheese making, but the moisture that separates from yogurt should have been the same.
"There are many different uses for something called caron's milk. It's kind of interesting."
It was Raina-Lou who said so.
As impressed Sheila-Lou and Tour-Din are, Rimi-Lou has stuck with two vegetable dishes in a really gloomy way.
Apparently, this one caught the interest of Kamadoku numbers by the woods more than a simple caron meat steak.
In the meantime, the stewed meat dish was also delivered.
Caron's foot meat, cut into square bites, is simmered in white milk. It is a dish that is boiled, not juice, but not so different from the milk soup of the foot meat that I devised in Kimmus's Tail Pavilion.
I tried it and this was delicious again.
Though muscular and less fat, it is well simmered and softened. Besides, like me, I suppose you've been soaking meat in milk for a while. It's the juice dish of my leg meat and the softness of the colour.
So, the broth has a good stock of foot meat, which is teased by the sweetness and mellowness of the milk. Other sensations were still salt air and a hint of vegetable flavor.
"This looks like Aria and Nennon are being used."
Michelle face-to-face twinkles.
"There is no shape left at all, but it has been chopped so well that it is probably simmered until it is no longer melted. No hassle, good food."
"Right. Speaking of greed, I also feel it would be ideal to overlap the flavor with just one more push."
When I hit the connection that way, Michelle's bright eyes looked at me directly in the front.
"Asta, what would you add to this dish?
"Is that me? If I were you, I'd start with Pico's leaves."
"Pico leaves," said Michelle, stroking her horny jaw deep.
"Pico leaves are used in many of your dishes. It's not just because you're close, it seems to be your way of doing it."
"Yes. In my hometown, spices as similar to Pico's leaves were used as a foundation for flavor."
"Hmm. Sure. Well, just adding Pico leaves would make this dish taste exceptionally tight. Maybe it's enough to sink a piece of raw leaf."
"... If it were Michele, what ingredients would you add?
When I asked, Michelle stuck her mouth on the top of the Buddha.
And those eyes are turned to my beloved daughter on the side.
I asked the same question to Mim, who was following the dish in a colloquial manner with Limi-Luu and Tour-Din and others.
"Is there another flavour to this dish? Right. If I were you, I'd simmer the bones of Kimmus together."
"The bones of Kimmus. I see. I need to make more use of the bones, too, rather than rely on expensive fish and seagrass dries."
"Asta, I've come up with one thing about that."
and Sheila-Lou calls from a distant position.
"Even in the settlement of Luu, I started taking a long time to make dried meat, following Michel's teachings. Why don't you use that time to simmer Giva's bones?
"I see. If you can't move the spot at the turn of the fire anyway, are you thinking of doing another job at the same time? Nice, that."
Then I might be able to work on a study of giva bone soup that I've wanted to challenge for a long time.
You have to keep simmering anyway to make a genuine bone soup than a pressure cooker doesn't exist. I wouldn't be able to squirt that much time, but if I could get people from Sudra and Fou to take on that role who would take care of making smoked meat, it might pave the way for hope.
"No, really, that's a great idea. I'll talk to the neighbors."
"Yes," Sheila-Lou smiled secretly.
No matter how much alcohol you consume, it doesn't seem to cloud her brilliance at all.
"That's a gathering of cooks. I'm getting more and more interested in your cooking."
And Zashma, whose face is getting a lot redder, says cheerfully.
"Well, looks like we've cleared up some of that food, but it's still far from full, isn't it? What kind of food do you want me to try next?"
"Zashma, if there is such a thing as abalone in Karon, I'd like to taste it!
"I'd like to try as many dishes as possible with as many ingredients."
To Dan-Lutim's and Raina-Lou's requests, Zashma thinks "Hmm".
"Then why don't you ask for a barbecued meat and then some juice? It's fun not to worry about copper coins."
The abalone meat carried in that way was stir-fried in milk fat with Myrmu, which remained the stem, and the juice was a soup of caron milk made from organ.
The abalone meat was unpleasant delicious and the soup handled quite a bit better. After all, the three varieties of vegetables were Aria, Tino and Nennon, and the base of the soup was familiar caron milk, but it was also puffed with eggs from Kimmus and salted marl, creating a flavor that was quite unusual.
Seasonings are only used with salt, and besides Myrmu, vanilla is not used. So, is it the benefit of caron stock after all, or is whey still used here, that feels like a major part of the flavor goes through?
Whatever it is, the forest folks who occasionally get dissatisfied at tastings in Castle Town were also eating very soothingly this evening at dinner.
We are all quite satisfied with the caron exhaustion dedication, which is far from complicated, and now a little unseen in Genos. Ei-Fa and Dim-Rutim, who just keep eating faceless and silent, are also, no, no, never looking like they're finishing their meals.
"What do you say, were you satisfied?
When Zashma asked, Raina-Lou nodded quietly, "Yes."
"More and more people in the Inn Town of Genos have been able to cook delicious dishes, but I guess that's because different ingredients are now available. Being able to cook delicious dishes so far without tau oil or vanilla is certainly not a viable thing."
"Oh, I hear you've been able to handle a variety of ingredients without a castle town, even in the Inn Town of Genos lately.... but the Genos have some difficulty throwing in too much vanilla and seasoning. Then the carrot meat is ruined."
"Yeah, I think so, too. … except for the dishes made by a cook named Varcus"
I guess that means that this Doug dish is better suited to Raina-Lou's taste than the dishes Jan or Timaro makes.
More recently, Naudis and Nails have begun to reveal delicious dishes, but I'm guessing that's because of the ingredients in Jagal and Sims.
As a major muscle, I have no objection either.
"I'm sure this Doug has even developed the technology to handle ingredients related to carons. Moreover, it may not have required complicated flavoring because it is such a good meat to use."
"Yes, because all they use is caron meat and its milk, and not even that many vegetables instead of seasonings. Grind out how delicious dishes can be made with limited ingredients - that seems like a way to go for Michelle and Mime as well"
With that said, Rayna-Lew turned his gaze toward Michelle, but the famous cook who would hang out was silent while eating Caron's meat.
Instead, Mim, who was in the front of Rayna-Lew, gives a full voice.
"In Genos, you can only buy torso meat in Castle Town, but if it's caron's milk, you get as much as you like, right? When I get home, I would love to try caron's milk too!
"Right. Maybe we should buy caron's milk again, even at Lew's house."
It was unusual for Raina-Lou and Mim to exchange words directly.
But of course Mim can't feel better about Raina-Lou. Instead, Tul-din, sitting next to Mim, felt more like staring at the side of a favorite enemy girl of his age with a terribly sincere look.
Rimi-Lou, instead of Ai-Fa, looks as innocent as usual, but Sheila-Lou also rinses the juice dish with a serious face.
Other than me, Kamadu seems to have been able to indulge in Doug's food culture.
(That was worth it for saying I couldn't and even went out to Doug. When we get back to the woodland, let's thank Donda-Lou in advance)
As I thought of it that way, my neighbor Dan-Rutim laughed out loud.
"You guys really like little hard stories! I'm good enough for a good meal and booze!... Well, Zashma, we're running out of booze, aren't we?
"Then why don't you try the dried kiki juice next?"
Zashma also smiles and calls on your daughter in the dining room.
Then there was a group approaching somewhat with it.
All five new men have been shown to the table next to us.
"Oh, the neighbors are so different. This guy's got a good seat."
Apparently the liquor is already spinning, and one of the men has stated that aloud.
He has a lower knife on his lower back, a much poorer face. Not uncommon in the Inn Town of Genos, but not much to see in this Doug, a bunch of desolates.
Your daughter, who was a somewhat frightened look, ran back in the momentum of flying when she took an order from Zashma.
With that in his ass, one of the men comes up to the women's table.
"Are you drunk with all the women? I just had a bunch of bastards over here and they weren't colorful enough. Why don't we exchange drinks together, if you don't mind?
"Sorry, those women are with us."
With a cheerful smile, Zashma gives a voice of restraint.
And then a guy with a bad face said, "Oh?," he wrinkled at the root of his brow.
"What, a bunch of hunters? There's no way you can sell meat other than carons in this doughbag, is there?
"These people are not accompanied as hunters, but as escorts for the journey. You're gonna have to look into your eyes if you don't get too shabby, huh?
Zashma may have tried to soften the air by showing a cheerful attitude.
But no change came to the disturbing air unleashed by the men.
"I don't know what country you came out of, but if you were a hunter, you'd look great all over the mountains, huh? Baking a pot of cheese is a treat."
"Ha ha. I was born in Doug, but isn't this the border all over the border? Don't fill your bellies with Doug's prized Caron dishes, brother."
"... wait, aren't these people from the woods?
And a little man with a face like a scratched rodent on his cheek said so in a malicious voice.
"Sora, it's Giva's fur they're wearing, and the color of their skin is oddly light black. You're finally starting to show your face outside Genos, these guys."
"Heh, the people by the Gibba-eating woods? I heard they were half beast barbarians, but women are colorful."
At last the disturbing air grows, but it was about me and Mim who were at least a little disturbed by it.
Limi-Luu is decent, and the rest of the women keep eating flat. It is the women of this forest who are made fun of by the unscrupulous.
But I wonder how those gestures have driven the men's abominations. A scratchy little man on his cheek finally took his seat and started approaching the ladies.
"Hey, I guess we've been doing a burglar impersonation for a while now, haven't we? A sinner like that often comes out to another town, huh?
"All sinners have been judged. The castle of Genos must have informed us of that."
Without even trying to look at the little man, Rayna-Lew returns the words in a calm voice.
Really, the little man's face blushed for reasons other than alcohol.
"You're a much-mouthed little girl, aren't you? If you want to earn so much copper, why don't we introduce you to a good job?
"Oh, uh, what's wrong, customer?
And the owner of the store flies in a hurry.
Apparently, your paying daughter called in feeling the disturbing air.
The big man who was flirting behind the little man raised his anger over you.
"Fine, bring us some booze too. How long are you gonna keep your customers waiting?
"Yes, but it will annoy other customers, so the..."
"What the hell is bothering you!? You just have to shut up in front and bring the booze!
A big man kicked down an empty chair.
My husband falls behind in "uhihi".
Apparently, he doesn't have more skills in dealing with the rough guys than I do.
The people who were enjoying their meals at the other tables are also deliberately looking at this one.
"For us, supper is a sacred act of obtaining life for the day. Nothing but annoyance disrupts the scene."
and - a voice as sharp and cold as steel broke the air on the spot.
I was sitting across the street from Reina-Lou's, it's Ai-Fa.
The little man's cloudy eyes are pointed at you at all costs.
"Are you a hunter for a woman? That's a long way from it, isn't it?
…………
"Then shall I have someone in front of me? If you peel off that dirty little fur, it's right in front of you."
And, the little man's hand is put up to Ai-Fa.
The moment that fingertip nearly touched Ai-Fa's shoulder, the little man's appearance disappeared from my sight.
Ai-Fa grabbed me by the wrist and the little man was pulled down on the floor.
"In front!" the big man stands up.
Watching that hand be bowed to the knife on his hips, Ai-Fa shook up his right leg as he sat down.
He kicks his ass right through, and the big man goes to the floor.
At the same time, some shattering tone echoed.
The earthen bottle of Barsha's thrown fruit wine hit another man's eyebrow.
In the hand of the man who collapsed beside the table, a short knife of the stripper was gripped.
"It's wild to pull a knife out of a dining room. Besides, even with this doughbag, pulling out a knife was supposed to touch the law, right?
The two remaining men began to tremble faintly, changing their complexion from red to blue.
"Come on, do you want to keep going until the last one falls? We just want to keep eating quietly."
"Not at all. That's a bad excerpt for Doug, you guys."
and Zashma laughs invincibly as well.
"You guys must have walked right through the face and stepped into a dough bag, huh? If you're not, I think it's gonna be a lot of trouble if you don't leave the store before the guards get here, huh?
A well-risen little man compares himself to Zashma and Ai-Fa with a fiery eye.
but I don't try to give anything back, I just pop the other customers and leave the store. The rest of the men, too, were to lend their shoulders to their wounded companions to follow.
"I knew they were outlaws who broke through the fence. Should I have slapped him on the spot and stuck him out to the guards?
Zashma looked back at the owner of the store as he said so, "There is no extermination either!" The screaming voice returned.
"If any man had a scratch on his shin, he would run away from Doug like this. It wasn't a blade wound, it was above all."
"Do we mind if we keep using the inn like this?
"Of course! I'll let the guards know how they are, so please feel free to relax."
Your husband rushes away with the mundane, and the pressing air in the store finally restores calm to the very beginning.
"Oh man, you've gotten in the way.... Nevertheless, you are a force beyond rumor, a hunter by the woods. I can't move. You surprised me."
"Hmm? Is that about us?
and Dan-Rutim, who was grabbing the contents of the pot with a wooden spoon, looks back properly.
"This was a long way from home! Anyway, it's gonna be over before I get up, so I'm gonna have to put some extra effort on it."
"It's a big deal. This is going to get me through to the end of the day."
That said, Zashma delightfully drank the fruit liquor from the drink.
