Rain Grace ① - Lew Family Study Group
Ever since I got back into the stall business, my days have been flowing peacefully.
Still, of course, it didn't make any difference. No matter how peaceful your routine is, you will never visit the same day again.
As long as it came into my ear, the work of clearing the way by the woods was steadily under way.
Rumor has it that a tremendous number of trees were unloaded outside the woodland, and now work even began on installing a fence to protect Dareim territory with it. Separately from working in a forest settlement, a group of people from the north are being driven out to do the work.
Of course, Dalaim is a vaster territory than Turan, so it is extremely difficult to protect all of it with a fence. Therefore, the first step was to create a wall on a trial basis only in the ground areas of the forest and Dareim territory.
In the first place, the damage done to Giva in Dareim territory has been considerably reduced in recent months. The way ahead felt a lot brighter because the Sung family people just let the giva hunting job resume and that was all the change they felt. This is only my personal view or desire, but I never thought that my smaller clan could do even less damage to the fields than they do now if they put more effort than ever in copper coins that sold delicious meals and meat, and yet established effective hunting methods using hounds.
Whatever it is, it is a long-term span plan for the creation of walls. During this rainy season, they intend to push carefully to see how much work can be carried out by the people of the North alone, first and foremost in view of their progress.
So, it's more about the pioneering work on the subject.
It seems that Dari-Sautti, who regularly goes to see how things are going, is already working at an incredible rate and is getting underway day by day. At least, they're already able to cut a distance that takes about three minutes on foot.
The woods at the foot of Morga are huge things that take days to cross on foot. but this pioneering work is planned to cut a whole day's distance east of where the settlement of Sauti is located. It was a story that if we went that far, we could break through Morga's realm by reaching the rocky mountain areas in the woods and then just going northeast along with it.
By the way, the whole day means "from sunrise to sunset". My feeling is it's about thirteen or four hours old.
Since the land divides the sunrise to sunset into thirteen moments, if it was advanced to a distance of three minutes on foot, it meant that less than a quarter of the entire process was completed.
Most importantly, considering that the tea moon is already only half a month away, the progress may be somewhat lagging behind. The further the construction progressed, the more effort it took to carry out the cut out lumber, and the combined thought that the rainy season was only two months made it seem difficult to finish the work within the time frame.
"Well, we'll have to add more manpower then. We're going to have to turn the men who are on the job of building walls outside the woods."
Polearths said so, apparently.
Well, it's their job to worry about the progress of the work. We had to watch in silence, praying that the workers would not be attacked by Giva.
Speaking of watching in silence, they are also secretly consulting on the treatment of the people of the North in the castle town.
As a general rule, the people of the North gathered in Genos are under the control of the Count Turan family. It was therefore said that discussions were taking place between the Earl of Turan and his superior Marquis of Genos regarding their future treatment.
It was also to be officially executed in conjunction with the meeting between the nobility and the forest chiefs.
Three chiefs went out to Castle Town to exchange words with Melfried, the mediator, and Polearth, the aide, for a few moments.
Fou and Baim's parents accompanied us on the spot, so the next day we were told the details correctly.
This does not mean that a novel story has been added. It was like we were officially delivered the words we heard in the settlement of Sauti as words from the lord.
The people of the woods should not speak against the people of the north.
However, both the Marquis of Genos and the Earl of Turan are still searching for the best path when it comes to the treatment of the people of the North.
I want you to keep your mouth shut until then because you may also have the opportunity to beg for advice from the noble side to the people by the woods.
In summary, that was all we talked about.
So what was highlighted was the danger of something called a visiting group from the Wang capital.
Humans in the Wang capital fear that Genos, in distant lands, will plan rebellions and independence. He therefore regularly sends visiting missions to see if there is any rebellion against Selva's royal family. He wanted the people by the woods to be careless so as not to give them a gap to follow.
"For example, there's a cook named Siri-Low who said he's also been invited to the Lew family, right? She is originally the bloodline of a free-flowing people who are not the people of the kingdom, but it was then Lord of Genos who allowed the people of those houses to remain the people of the kingdom with Mr. Even though it was customary to make the pioneering people abandon Mr. when welcoming him as a people of the kingdom, the lord at the time allowed it at his discretion, didn't he? It seems to be a story that cares if you try to be a man of the king's capital."
On the occasion of the talks, Polearth said so, apparently.
The Lord of Genos at the time - not the Marquis of Genos - said the Border Uncle of Genos had taken such measures in order to coexist as peacefully as possible with the liberal pioneers who originally lived in the land. The people of the West with Mr., such as Siri-Low and Milan-Math, were all descendants of such liberal pioneers.
"I even gave you those stories a long time ago, and the visiting people keep calling us' the people of the exiled border 'and so on. So if you think you're dealing with the people of the North in a strange way, and so on, you're in a lot of trouble again."
So what I was reminded of was the fact that the nobles of Genos are classified as "country nobles" in this western kingdom.
Marquis Marquis Marquis Marquis Malstein and Melfried, which are thought to exist on the clouds to the people of the town, may also be just "savages on the rough border" if they try to be human beings in the king's capital.
So, what the hell do people and so forth by the woods who live in that further corner of Genos think? If you will, you did not want to be involved in such things as the people of the high king's capital.
All in all, the Chiefs had accepted the words of Melfried and others.
More importantly, the chiefs were concerned about Poitan running out of stock. More than the Count Turan family decided to replace his shoulder, there was no such thing as a mouth-watering project from this side.
"However, I do not believe that I was wrong to offer to pay for Poitan. Remember, we have our own way of doing things."
Donda-Lou seemed to have turned the meeting around with those words.
After all those underwater events, on the 21st of the Tea Moon - it's my 5th day back in business.
The street business was also a holiday on that day.
And the day before that, vegetables from the rainy season had been put up for sale.
So we got together at Luu's house from Jomtien to get the study group back on track for the first time in a month and a half.
◇
"Hi everyone, good job.... hey, you're too hissy, you're a little nervous"
While I was at Lew's main house, I let him cut the fire like that.
The people gathered on the spot, with the exception of about one, all shine their eyes on expectations.
The total number of participating members of the study group is nine.
From the Lou family, there are four: Raina-Lou, Sheila-Lou, Limi-Lou, and Mother Meer Ray.
From my younger family, I, Tul-din and Yun-Sudra are the three.
And from the guests of the Lew family, there are two of them, Mim and Michelle.
About one person who had not sparkled his eyes in anticipation was, of course, about Michele.
I make Michelle laugh.
"I'm new to these vegetables, so I count on your knowledge and experience. In particular, I would like to ask Michelle, who handled these as a cook, for guidance."
"... all I have to do is return the favor of being taken care of in this settlement. We're just gonna see idiots in this old age."
"No more! You don't have to slap the haters."
Mim smiles and slaps his father's thick chest.
He needs the power of Michelle, and he smiles with great joy.
Michelle, whose right leg fracture had not yet fully healed, was sitting alone in a crate. It is also possible to walk with a cane, but it is still difficult to stand for long periods of time. But the others, bandaged around the shin, are as healthy as we've seen before.
Just about the time I was able to lay in the devil, the people of the Lew family begged Michelle for a dry meat maker's guide. Now Michelle herself is going to learn the technology she was learning indirectly from me. The story was that Mime and others were very happy when they wanted me to go around the family's house and give you a hand job when the injury got a little better.
"I've talked about it a little before, but it's troublesome to deal with vegetables in the rainy season. I'm not talking about bad taste or anything, but I can't think of any use other than simmering in a pan. If these guys have different ways of eating like tarapas, tinos and pras, I'd love to know."
That's how Mother Meer Ray, the partitioner on the side of the Lou family, spoke.
Instead, Rimi-Lou is nodding yeah.
"What did Tripe do? It tastes like Tripe, and Onda doesn't taste like much, does it?... and Limi doesn't really like leggies."
"Right. I barely used Leggy in my house either."
"Yeah, a lot of people like Tripe, but maybe they've never seen someone say they like Leggy"
To the words of Rimi-Lou, Sheila-Lou and Raina-Lou also express their agreement.
Tour-Din and Yun-Sudra are listening to the words with interest. Because Tour-Din only spoke of the grace of the forest, Yun-Sudra had never eaten vegetables during the rainy season because of their poverty.
"Is that Leggy? To cook this one, you need to look down."
Michelle sitting in a crate points to that vegetable with her left hand finger.
There are three species of vegetables harvested during the rainy season: Tripe, Onda and Leggy. Of these, only a vegetable named Onda made me feel ready to see.
But first, should we start with Leggy, who raised the subject?
It was a vegetable when it was a stick of wood in a bright red hue.
The shape is almost straight, with hair growing by the way. It is about 3 cm thick and about 50 cm long. One end is sharp and pointy, while the other end offers a peek at a blackened cross section.
"Is this root vegetables? It's a lot brighter."
"Oh. Planting it on water and air makes it grow up in no time. Conversely, too much water can rot Tino, so it looks like a lot of people will grow this guy instead during the rainy season."
On the top of the Buddha, that's what Michel said.
"The easiest way to get underneath is to scrape the skin and leave the vinegar of Mammalia in dissolved water. If left alone for four and a half minutes, the smell and bitterness of the soil will disappear."
"Do you need mammalian vinegar? So, in forestside settlements, lodging towns, etc., you didn't have to do the right thing from the start."
Respond as Raina-Lou felt. Until a few months ago, Mammalia's vinegar was only found in Castle Town.
but I was greatly inspired by Michelle's words.
"One moment, please. Does skin always have to be peeled? I think the forest folks probably ate this skin-by-pipe."
"Skinning is to take away odors and bitterness. Perhaps the skin is more nourishing."
"Oh, I knew...... then why add vinegar? If you don't, can't you remove the odor?
"The vinegar is added to keep the fruit from turning black and cloudy. If the colour is black on the dirt odor, my appetite will drop. … and if you spare the effort of hitting the water, the black color will spread to the broth itself"
"Oh, all broths with leggies go black, don't they? It does make you feel like you're scrubbing muddy water."
After stating it that way, Sheila-Lou looked back at me.
"But Asta has a mouthful like you know something about this vegetable. Hey, did this also have vegetables similar to my hometown?
"Yes, actually, it is. The procedure below sounded familiar, so I pinned it."
Peeling and applying to vinegar water was the same means as under the gobo.
So, I was deceived by this bright red shade, but on second thought, this shape is very similar to Gobo's. It's closer in size to a gobo than a giant gobo.
"If skins also have nourishment, isn't that better suited to the air of the forest people without peeling them? Besides, different condiments are available at the Lew family. Is the smell and bitterness of leggies so strong that there is no deception in using them?
"... if you skin it and hit the vinegar water, anyone can easily treat this guy as an ingredient full of it, that's all I'm talking about. If you're a little bit of an attentive cook, you'll think about making it taste and look better without letting it get nourished."
"If there is such a way, we would like to learn from you"
Raina-Lou launches herself while striking a serious light into her eyes.
After looking back at that face silently for a while, Michelle shrugged her shoulders small.
"If you want to avoid the contents blackening, just cook before blackening. If you're concerned about the earthly odor, you can season it softly. If you don't care about black broth, you can put another color on it. If you say so, that's all."
"Is it cooked before the contents blacken...... how does Leggy get blackened in the first place? This leggie, too, has a black cut on it."
"But even if I grab a simmered leggie, I don't think it's as black as this cut. So when you used Leggy in my house, you didn't cut it too hard and put it in the pan."
"Oh, that could have been us. But if you don't cut it properly, it will increase the odor and bitterness, so you've been thinking about how to cut it."
Raina-Lou and Sheila-Lou are eager to discuss.
The colour darkened because of oxidation, or if this kind of flavoring was right for Leggy, etc., etc. I wanted to make a mouthful and mumbled, but I noticed Michelle's attention and put up with it. Michelle wanted to see both of them with some sort of exploratory eye.
"Besides, the flavoring that softens the smell and bitterness of leggies... I wonder if I should simmer it with a vanilla with a stronger aroma?
"But then it's going to destroy the taste of Leggy himself, isn't it? For example, pra is bitter, but that bitterness makes me think pra is delicious."
"Mm-hmm. Ah. Besides, Leggy is just as hard as Pra, so it's hard to eat when it gets too spicy."
Against Sheila-Lou, he is Raina-Lou, who speaks as intimately as a family. It was also strange to think carefully that such a person appeared to be younger.
When my thoughts put that on the sidewalk like that, Rimi-Lou said, "Yes!," he raised his energetic voice.
"Leggy looks like Gigo, doesn't he! Then why don't we just use it like Gigo did?
"Just like Gigo? You know, like snuffing around?
"Yeah. Leggy's hard, so grated but delicious. That's it. Plus, while you're squeezing, you're going black!
"So what does Rimi-Lou think?
"Limi, I like the Guigo of Tau Oil Soup! If it was tau oil, the color would be brown, and the broth would turn black would be deceptive, wouldn't it?
"Tau oil... but if you try to soften the earthiness and bitterness of Leggy just because of the taste of tau oil, you're going to be so salty"
After stating so, Raina-Lou raised his face all the time.
"But if you want to boil it instead of juice, like Asta's makeup or meat chatch... and use not only tau oil but also fruit liquor and sugar sweetness, it's going to soften the bitterness."
"Oh, it might be sweeter and sharper than spicy to bring Leggy's original flavor to life."
The three members of the Lou family looked at each other and then looked back at Michelle at best.
Michelle looks back at it on the same Buddha top surface.
"The flavor of tau oil and the sweetness of sugar would be the original flavor of Leggy. If it were to add spiciness, it would be on top of that."
"Really! Now, I would like to try simmering in tau oil or fruit liquor without peeling!
Raina-Lou, Sheila-Lou and Limi-Lou were all smiling with pleasure.
And Maim, who secretly refrained instead of his father, watched as they looked a little tickled.
For once, did Mim also learn how to use Leggy on Michelle in this way?
That was only my imagination, but in any case, just teaching me the answer from one to ten would have never made the Raina-Lou guys remember this kind of fun either. Tour-Din and Yun-Sudra watched the Rayna-Lu and the others smile with a slightly enviable face.
"Well, shall we verify the other ingredients as well? Um, about this onda, you could have used it at the Lou's without any problems, right?
"Yes, Onda doesn't have a strong flavor either, so I usually put it in the pan. The texture is a bit unique, but there are not many people who like it or dislike it."
This onda is very similar in shape to the vegetables I know.
The colors are white and slightly elongated, each very small. It was a bud that germinated from a small bean with a light yellow colour - to do so, it looked just like a palm.
"Looks like Onda was passed down from Jagal a long time ago. It should be able to grow even if it's not a rainy season, but it will only be used during the rainy season to fill the shortage of tarapas and tinos."
"I see. Is it a vegetable that can be grown in a cabin or something, not in a field?
"Oh. I guess the rainy season is more convenient because I use plenty of water to grow this guy,"
If the taste is more similar to that of a palm, I would like it to be bought at any time, not just during the rainy season. Moyashi should be able to utilize it in a variety of dishes.
"At the Lew's, you only used this in juice, didn't you? In my hometown, I even used stir-fried vegetables very similar to this."
"Huh? But as soon as you try to bake it, will you burn it?
"I guess that's because I've never had the habit of fattening an iron pot before. Any vegetable, not just Onda, would be nicer sautéed in fat, wouldn't it?
So this was also easy to practice, so Onda was to be sautéed in a greasy iron pan of Giva.
Seasoning is only with salt and pico leaves. but onda was no less luscious than moyashi and that was good enough. The flavour of the beans is very slight, with a very shaky and pleasant texture.
"Oh, stir-fry, there's something novel about the deliciousness!
"Is it because juice makes Onda's water less noticeable? I think it's kind of funny that there's so much water in the stir-fry."
"Yes, sautéed with other vegetables and it looks delicious again"
Tour-Din and Yun-Sudra were together, smiling satisfactorily. This would soon be available for use in any house, whether as juice or stir-fry.
So the last ingredient is a strange vegetable that tries.
All this, I had no idea what kind of ingredient it was either.
The epidermis is stiff and black. My muscles are running amazingly like mask melons, and the shape is rounded. It has a diameter of about 20 cm and is tightly heavy when held in hand. I had the impression that it was a little like a ball of boring.
"This guy just hangs up so hard, we'll just stick it in the whole pot."
I'm impressed with what Mother Meer Ray said.
"Is that all the fire passes inside? He's got a lot of sturdy skin."
"Oh. As you simmer, the skin breaks off thoroughly. Then you loosen up and melt the contents. At the end of the day, you'll be able to eat with your skin."
"Rimi is a pot of stripes, I love it! But I don't like Donda so much."
"When I use this guy, everything tastes the same. When it comes to the taste of giva meat, it tastes like you want to twist your neck a little bit.... I've been using meat that hasn't drained blood before, so maybe I felt it that way."
It is where I am increasingly uninterested.
When I glanced over at Michelle, she was stroking her bearded cheeks with an indifferent look.
"Tripe has a strong flavor. Even in Castle Town, it is normal to assemble flavors around it if you want to use a stripe. So it will be used more often in side dishes than in main dishes"
"Is it a side dish? So is it, after all, a less suitable ingredient for use with meat?
"Oh. Of course, there's no one to make it into a main dish in conjunction with meat, but there 'll be more to use with confectionery than that"
To that word, Tour-Din and Limi-Lu reacted sharply.
It's like a kitten giving you a pin and an ear, and it's so adorable.
"Speaking of which, Tripe is the sweetest of vegetables! Oh, hey, sweets on a stripe. Something looks so delicious!
"You also have something called sweet vegetables. Very intriguing."
"... First, try simmering just the stripes as they are. It hurts the knife if you try to cut it poorly, and it would be easier to make a flavor after simmering"
Following Michelle's advice, we tried simmering the whole stripe individually.
Throw the stripe from the water condition and cover it when it boils. It was a story of four half-minutes - 15 to 20 minutes and boiled enough, so I measured my time with the hourglass I bought in Castle Town and waited while I rigged the dishes.
When I opened the lid that way, the fruit of the stripe was broken completely.
A peek from it is the strong bright orange colour of yellow.
The colour and fragrance finally gave me an idea of who the vegetables were.
That was apparently a very similar vegetable to a pumpkin.
"If you want it to be a juice, you can keep simmering it, or if you want to treat it as a simmer, you can pull it out of the pan"
After a thought, Mother Meer Ray left the broken half in the pan and pulled only the other half up on the plate.
"You never ate a Tripe like this. Until now, they've all melted in broth."
We used a wooden key to taste the stripe.
Surely this is a taste close to pumpkins. It is flaky, and the sweet flavor spreads to my mouth. With about this much simmering, the epidermis was still stiff, and there were actually a few fibers left.
"If you simmer carefully at low temperatures, you can bring out more sweetness. Besides, if you want to treat it as a stew, you should cut it first and then simmer it with the seasoning."
"I see...... maybe this is more delicious to eat as is than to eat with giva meat"
Speaking that way was Yun-Sudra.
I guess compatibility with Giva meat still has to be considered for use in dinner or as a product.
"But I don't suppose it means it doesn't go with Giva meat at all. Sweet and spicy boiled with ground beef, I think you can make it into a main course."
In the back of my brain, I thought of a dedication called pumpkin broth. If the seasoning was as rich as it is now, it would not be difficult to finish it deliciously.
Whatever it was, if Tripe, Onda and Leggy were ingredients similar to pumpkins, palms and gobo, they were going to be able to twist out the utilisation at all.
And on this occasion, it's time for Michelle to be so good. Not only will we be able to showcase the knowledge I have gained in my hometown, but we will also be able to increase your interest in a more meaningful way.
The Lew family study group, which invited Michelle and Mime for the first time, was thus off to a good start.
