Chapter 2547: Civilized Man
So the matter is very clear. The Portal Space is surrounded by Chaotic Space and is likely a place disconnected from the game itself. This is why players from District 001 are trying everything to retake these strongholds.
Of course, whether this situation naturally exists here or is caused by the Outer District Forces, the exit is blocked, and finding the safe route is the least that needs to be done.
Xu Huo cannot be sure that entering the Chaotic Space will allow him to contact the outside. Even if he manages to do so, he cannot leave through tickets like the people of District 001 unless there’s another way.
His gaze fell on the members of the Holy Sword Society. Since they can come and go freely, it means there is indeed a passage to District 001 here.
"Where did you exit from before?" Xu Huo asked, "Is it within the Chaotic Space?"
The people from District 001 fell silent, and then an older player said, "It’s not that we don’t want to tell you, but the passage is no longer usable now. We are not sure if it’s in Chaotic Space because we came in from one of the training grounds."
"After the people from the Holy Sword Society arrived, that passage was completely closed."
This is quite possible. Super Players would definitely ensure a safe route for the people of District 001.
"Among the people from the Holy Sword Society, are there any time-directed Super Evolvers?" Xu Huo asked again.
"That... is hard to say." The older player glanced at him. Initially, they didn’t believe there were time-directed Super Evolvers in the Holy Sword Society, but seeing Xu Huo, now they felt a bit uneasy.
Xu Huo didn’t press them further. From the time he entered the mountain until now, he sensed at least close to thirty Outer District players around him. Many of these people were often obscured by the chaotic space-time power, but they occasionally returned to exchange information and switch shifts.
In the mountains, shouting and signal lights are more effective than communicators, though they can only transmit urgent messages. For crucial information and to maintain secrecy, they would choose face-to-face conversations.
The entrance and exit to the Chaotic Space is very likely a new channel opened by members of the Holy Sword Society, and if lucky, the original safe channel might not have been completely destroyed.
"Friend, you talk a bit too much," a member of the Holy Sword Society about ten meters away said with a smile, "If you want to get the situation, why not ask us? How could you get anything truthful from the mouths of those from District 001?"
"Sure." Xu Huo responded fluently, "When is your Lord Envoy coming? And looking around, it seems there are no Golden Disciples. Didn’t you say many came, and it should be absolutely safe, but now it looks like you’re hiding here, afraid to go out."
That person chuckled, "The Holy Sword Society wouldn’t come if they feared trouble. Otherwise, what do you think the person behind you risked his life for? You are a dungeon player, right? I heard from Skinny Monkey that your Spatial Evolution and Spirit Evolution are both good. What future is there in fighting alone? Come to the Holy Sword Society; we guarantee you’ll soon rise to Rank-A."
The monkey referred to is the previous skinny man who has now left with other members, heading in the direction of the Chaotic Space.
"Whether to evolve or not is another matter," Xu Huo didn’t follow their line of conversation but said, "At least one should get out alive first."
The person still smiled, "Fence-sitters usually don’t have good endings. You should think it over clearly and make a decision before Lord Envoy arrives."
The surrounding members of the Holy Sword Society were looking at him, with eyes that couldn’t be considered friendly. Of course, most of their animosity was directed at the players from District 001, as the Holy Sword Society had also lost quite a few people due to the district.
"I’m actually a bit curious," Xu Huo changed the topic, "Does the Holy Sword Society have some deep-seated hatred with District 001? Otherwise, why would you go to such great lengths to besiege this place?"
"Even if you really seize this zone, will you be able to take root here? I’m afraid the entire District 001 would see you as enemies."
"That’s none of your business." The other party waved, clearly not wanting to continue the conversation.
It’s unknown when the Lord Envoy would arrive, but soon two Golden Disciples showed up. They wore badges and accompanied a masked man walking over.
The people of the Holy Sword Society, though a player organization with substantial resources, have members joining mostly for resources, lacking any strong sense of conviction, with little deep friendship among them. Their diverse backgrounds and experiences make them seem a varied bunch that was temporarily grouped together. This was also true for the two Golden Disciples, who, though exuding the aura of superiors, still carried the wildness characteristic of players who fought their way out of the game.
The masked man, however, was quite different.
Compared to a group of ruthless killers, he seemed more like a "civilized person."
He was wearing a silver robe, and even his shoes were silver. His clothing, made from special metal, although thin, had a peculiar texture. With a faint breeze, the patterns on the clothes gave off a bizarre rolling sensation, as if the garment was alive.
The man’s face was obscured by a mask, but his eyes were clearly visible, a pair of green eyes like emeralds, with the aesthetic appeal of gemstones and the coldness of jewels.
"Why are there living people from District 001 here?" He questioned the two Golden Disciples as he stood still. Yet his eyes showed little emotion, as if he were merely stating a trifling matter, and as soon as he finished speaking, several Spatial Rays sliced towards the people from District 001 like scissors!
These were not ordinary Spatial Rays but lethal blades, nearly as undetectable as typical Spatial Ray Blades. Not to mention those who haven’t evolved, even two space-oriented Super Evolvers from District 001 only realized something was wrong after the rays sliced through the suddenly appearing Spatial Barrier around them!
Xu Huo had already stood up.
He and the Girl in the painting were sitting in a corner, originally quite inconspicuous, lacking much presence, and contrasted sharply with the twenty elites from District 001, like fillers beside the main dish. Of course, in the eyes of the masked man, the twenty people from District 001 were also negligible.
But he blocked the Spatial Rays, which made it different.
The masked man’s eyes slightly moved, shifting his gaze to Xu Huo and then looking at the Girl in the painting behind him, "Here we have another good catch."
Trait Evolution seemed to bring a subtle change to Xu Huo, that even in a place disconnected from the game, as long as he remained silent, people generally would not pay attention to him. So his stepping up unexpectedly was so striking.
But that was only for a moment. Because once you confront him directly, no one would think of him as a dispensable figure.
