Chapter 2629: Spatial Power Surgery
Xu Huo’s expression subtly changed.
He was quite adept in Spatial Evolution and clearly knew how difficult it was to control the spatial rays within an object’s interior. The more complex the object, the more challenging it becomes; the human body is an exceptionally complex structure. Understanding the spatial ray pathways within a living human body is already not easy. Pure destruction might be somewhat simpler, but precisely controlling the spatial power within the body for delicate cutting and suturing exponentially increases in difficulty. Not to mention this was heart surgery, and without any medical tools as aid, Gao Ming managed to wield spatial power to such an extraordinary degree!
Without deliberately focusing his gaze on the tent, Xu Huo looked at the three players accompanying the child.
He hadn’t seen the two older ones before, but the younger one was the player he had lent a hand to in Yunguan City. When he left, that player should have been picked up by members of the anti-government alliance, yet an accident still occurred.
"Those execution team members are worse than animals!" The mutton chop bearded man stood outside the tent, waiting anxiously while cursing.
A companion nudged him, indicating that there were outsiders present, but the mutton-chopped man didn’t even glance at Xu Huo and continued cursing the execution team, saying they wouldn’t spare children. To catch them, they had even inserted a small explosive device within the child’s body, putting the child’s life in danger and injuring several adults.
"Are you okay?" Xu Huo poured a glass of water and handed it to the young player curled up in the corner, blaming himself.
The player lifted his head, stared at Xu Huo for several seconds before regaining his senses. Instead of taking the water, he glanced toward the tent, worried and afraid: "Has the surgery ended?"
"Not yet." Xu Huo placed the water beside him, "But you came to find Doctor Gao, so you should trust his medical skills."
The young player appeared bewildered, clearly unfamiliar with Gao Ming’s medical prowess, fearfully glancing at the other two players.
"Enough," the mutton-chopped man said unkindly, "Don’t hang your head in shame. The execution team is full of schemes, this isn’t your fault, you just wanted to save lives."
"I’m sorry..." The young player said, choking up, "If I had been more alert, stronger, this wouldn’t have happened..."
The tall player interrupted them, "We’ll discuss this once the child is safe."
After sitting silently for another two hours, Gao Ming finally exhaled a breath of relief inside the tent, using spatial power to stitch up the wounds on the child’s skin.
A while later he came out and said to everyone, "I can’t leave tonight, I’ll make a list, and you go buy the medicine."
The mutton chop bearded man nodded repeatedly, promptly heading out to contact a companion after receiving the list, while the tall player carefully inquired about the child’s condition.
"Fortunately, the sharp objects from the explosion didn’t fully pierce the heart. The child’s strong reaction to the Self-Healing Potion is his stroke of luck. The overgrown wound seemed to clog the heart but actually delayed time; otherwise, without you coming to me, the child might not have made it."
Gao Ming paused and continued, "However, you need to be careful. Even children of Third-class Residents aren’t spared; the Yongta Country’s government probably has reached its limit of tolerance for you all. Besides the rescued child, anyone seeking refuge with you should be thoroughly checked."
The tall player’s gaze involuntarily shifted to the young player, then smoothly returned, "Thank you, we will be cautious. This time it’s a trouble again, I wonder if it will..."
Gao Ming raised his hand to interrupt him, "I’m just a doctor, saving people is all."
The tall player felt grateful but still worried, hinting Gao Ming could follow them to a safer location.
Gao Ming didn’t respond directly, instead, he turned back into the tent.
The tall player turned somewhat disappointedly to the young player, "Go out and make sure the medicines are all ready..."
Before he finished speaking, the mutton chop bearded man who had gone out smashed through the door into the house. The tall player’s expression changed, rapidly enabling a Defensive Barrier to protect the tent. The tent was shielded, but the wooden house’s front door was completely blown off, half the house gone, and in the expansive view, over a dozen players hovered in the air above the village, scrutinizing everyone from above.
"Looks like we’re in the wrong place." The leader turned out to be the execution team captain who earlier had paraded anti-government alliance members’ bodies through the streets. The dark-skinned man wasn’t disappointed about the village full of weak, sickly residents, just looked coldly at them and said indifferently, "Kill them all."
The tall player’s face turned pale as he pulled up his companion, releasing a widespread Defensive Barrier while rushing towards the tent. His target wasn’t the still-unconscious child but Gao Ming.
Gao Ming had already stood up; in facing someone seemingly trying to rescue him, he lightly tapped the hand of the tall player, who then froze in place. Meanwhile, the exterior Defensive Barrier was shattered, and the mutton chop bearded man, who went out to confront them, was thrown back within three seconds, crashing into the already broken wooden house, rolling right to Gao Ming’s feet.
Sidestepping the mutton chop bearded man, Gao Ming approached the entrance, shouting loudly: "Stop!"
The players who had already raised blades to the villagers’ throats turned their heads in unison; the dark-skinned man said insincerely, "So that’s who it is, it’s Doctor Gao. Do you live here?"
"You are players; can’t you see I live inside?" Gao Ming countered, slightly angry, "Five years ago, I made an agreement with Yongta Country, your execution team isn’t allowed to set foot in my residence—yet you dare to kill here? Is Zhu Bo dead?"
His last words made the entire execution team, including the dark-skinned man, change their expressions. "I am still standing here to speak with you; you should appreciate it. Otherwise, with your attitude, you’d be executed by now!"
Gao Ming was utterly unfazed, "If Yongta Country hasn’t changed rulers, then you should listen to Zhu Bo. Otherwise, you’d better kill me now, or I’ll make sure to ask Zhu Bo afterwards if the words he said when I saved his life still stand!"
The members of the execution team glanced at the dark-skinned man, who showed no signs of acquiescence, "You harbored anti-government alliance members."
"I don’t know who they are; they brought a severely injured, dying child seeking treatment," Gao Ming looked at them, "I’ve heard it was you who injured the child. A child of just a few years old doesn’t comprehend much; you should also accumulate some virtue for yourselves."
"A child of just a few years old doesn’t comprehend much..." The dark-skinned man’s forehead bulged with veins, "Children in the anti-government alliance, even a few years old ones, dare bind themselves with bombs to attack the execution team; what kind of children are they?"
Gao Ming clearly didn’t want to continue arguing this subject, "What you are like, naturally your children will be alike. Solve it yourselves; now leave!"
