Chapter 2606: The Senior Roller Coaster Project
Mr. Xi was about to say something when a bright light soared into the sky from afar, followed immediately by a strong air wave that swept everything, and then came the massive explosion sound.
The Metal Token Player’s elevated surveillance equipment happened to capture the suit flying out from the explosion center; several people watched and Xu Huo raised an eyebrow and said, "Isn’t this self-rescue?"
Indeed, self-rescue is just that simple. Besides some passive-triggering props that can move positions, using such large-scale destructive power props isn’t uncommon. With such an explosion, whether it’s players or the Night Tour Team, the chances of being swept away are high. Once swept away, the distance naturally widens. As for the risk of death, passive defense props and Night Tour Sets can help reduce it.
"Should we go and take a look?" another player asked the Metal Token Player, but before the latter could speak, several figures in Night Tour Sets flying over, looking like they’ve been blown away by the air wave, appeared, with the masks and clothing intact, and were accompanied by a group of demon head masks flying towards them!
The target was so clear, just the sight of it was enough to make one’s scalp tingle. Now no one talked about going to take a look anymore, Xu Huo and a few others turned and ran in two directions.
Sure enough, those masks and Night Tour Performers weren’t accidentally swept towards their direction. After they separated, the performers and masks divided into two groups and chased them respectively.
Several spatial barriers appeared in succession, wrapping the performers and masks one by one. To buy time, both Xu Huo and the Metal Token Player intentionally delayed the activation time of props and instruments, hoping they’d appear briefly every time they escaped a barrier.
Yet only after two or three attempts, those performers seemed to see through and tire of this delay game. After abruptly disappearing, they reappeared in front of Xu Huo and others—a previously heard ringtone seemed to resound from afar again, while clothes on the performers started detaching, countless roots swiftly and precisely shot out from them, crisscrossed, attacking everyone present!
"Boom!" Xu Huo pushed Mr. Xi towards the Girl in the painting, creating a space bomb on-site. As the air wave expanded, the floating roots scattered completely, both they and the Night Tour Performers were pushed in different directions.
In just an instant, before Xu Huo and the three were blown far by the explosion’s wave, they passed through a spatial gate; the pitch-black view switched to daylight in a second, even the explosive momentum completely vanished!
Using Psychic Power, Xu Huo pulled the Girl in the painting and Mr. Xi towards him, swiftly moved beside them, and looking at the demon head masks emerging from all directions, he said to Mr. Xi, "Why don’t you hide in the container prop? Otherwise, I’m worried you won’t make it when we’re out."
The old man was stubborn, "At my age, you want me to hide in a container prop? I still want to live a few more years!"
Xu Huo was rather helpless, "Do you think dying quicker in the current situation or in the container prop?"
Mr. Xi snorted, lifted his coat and took out a sheet-like instrument from the belt, tossed it into the air, where it directly decomposed into extremely thin lines, quickly circled in the air, in the blink of an eye, hung all visible masks on the street lamp!
A thick stack of masks squeezed together, neither being torn nor able to escape immediately, writhing together like a pile of squirming worms.
"Why didn’t you take it out earlier?" the Girl in the painting questioned with a bat at hand.
"I went out for a stroll, how could I bring all the props and instruments? There’s only one," Mr. Xi said matter-of-factly. "Besides, you’re the players, are you counting on this elderly who can’t lift or carry anything?"
Xu Huo was speechless, but the Girl in the painting was outspoken, "You ran awfully fast just now!"
As soon as she finished speaking, one mask hanging on the street lamp was torn off. Mr. Xi’s eyelid twitched, urgently saying, "Stop talking nonsense, run!"
"Alright!" Xu Huo nodded and opened a Mental Portal right in front of him, and as the old man fell forward, he vanished into the ground!
Once he left, of course, Xu Huo and the Girl in the painting followed. But compared to the portal they opened on the ground, Mr. Xi’s portal was much more thrilling. Sometimes it appeared close to the ground, and sometimes directly in high air, only showing a new portal when the old man fell headfirst downward.
After a roller coaster ride, Mr. Xi couldn’t help it anymore, shouting, "Kid! Don’t you know anything about respecting the elderly and loving the young?"
Xu Huo instantly moved to his front, grabbing his shoulder to reposition him, "If I didn’t force you into the container prop, I’m already showing respect. How about now, ready to go in?"
The old man looked at him, dizzy, "Trying to force me? No way!"
"Fine." Xu Huo loosened his hand, smiled at him, then looked at the ground.
Mr. Xi followed his gaze to the floor, where a dark portal appeared again. An unfinished curse abruptly broke off as it disappeared into the distance.
But this time Xu Huo didn’t play around and quickly led him to a previously marked location.
Not finding the earlier left animal head, he pinched out a snake and stamped it on the street lamp pole.
Mr. Xi lay on the ground retching, fingers trembling as he pointed at Xu Huo, speechless for a moment.
"Since you’re getting older, conserve your energy," Xu Huo advised coolly, "Talking less is also a shortcut to life extension."
Mr. Xi lay for a while before giving a thumbs-up, then turning over and forcefully thrusting the ground hard.
The Girl in the painting squatted in front of him, showing him the communicator that displayed his entire process of kneeling on the ground.
The old man reached out to grab, but the Girl in the painting quickly raised the communicator, realizing it was impossible to erase this dark history, and simply gave up, "I’ve already been dragged out by the Artifact Maker Association and Clock Making Association’s video records countless times. The information terminal’s collection has hundreds of videos!"
Seeing him wear his disgrace as pride, the Girl in the painting turned to Xu Huo.
Xu Huo deflected several head masks, walked over, and helped him up, "What effect does opposing the association bring?"
"Don’t do it simply because it brings no effect?" Mr. Xi argued, "Back when the pioneers in District 001 resisted the Outer Zone invaders, they didn’t know if it would work, but without them, we wouldn’t have Star Fire Spreads. Can you say they had no effect now?"
"Everything needs someone to lead, more will follow once a lead appears."
"But you’ve been leading for so long and still alone?" the Girl in the painting bluntly pointed out.
Glaring at her, Mr. Xi retorted, "Vanguards are never considered early in any era!"
