Chapter 2650: Names on the Family Tree
Xu Huo leisurely took out the Black Blade, with a slight lift of his hand, accompanied by a cold gleam sweeping across the yard, the Rank-B player was killed without any resistance.
Using a handkerchief to wipe the blood off the blade, he didn’t look at the others whose expressions dramatically changed; he just said blandly, "It’s a pity that the time-related item can’t be used continuously."
Upon hearing this, the unlucky one and the female player turned to flee, but with just a flicker of their gazes, they unconsciously looked back at Xu Huo, meeting his eyes. Without much need for explanation, the instant their eyes met, they realized it was a trap, Xu Huo was waiting for them to run!
Death like wind, as if strangling their necks.
"What exactly do you want?" The female player asked through gritted teeth.
Xu Huo put away the Black Blade and took out three syringes from the luggage compartment, "I want you to do me a favor."
"Three doses of poison, one for each of you. Help me complete the task and return to get the antidote. Of course, if you find the cure yourselves that’s your good fortune, otherwise, you better come back obediently to find me."
"Or whoever can directly bring the National Treasure to me, I’ll give you the antidote right away."
"Are you joking!" Bald Head blurted out, "How is this different from just killing us?!"
"The difference is you have a certain chance to escape." Xu Huo left these words, along with the poison and a contact method, and returned to the room.
Of the three, both Bald Head and the female player were from the attacker camp, but they had entered the game not long ago, so even if they failed the challenge, there was temporarily no high-risk random danger. At worst, if they really helped the defender camp find the National Treasure, their lives wouldn’t necessarily be in danger, so they didn’t have to go all out.
The unlucky one was from the defender camp, Xu Huo’s goal was his goal, only now there was an added shackle.
"No wonder he killed the stranded players," the female player sneered, "afraid they’d desperately fight him."
"Fight desperately? Can they win?" The unlucky one said.
The three were silent for a while, even though Xu Huo was no longer in front of them, they still felt a huge pressure. It seemed they had no chance to leave this yard alive without injecting the poison.
"I hope you’ll keep your promise!" The unlucky one shouted, taking the lead in injecting the syringe into his arm.
After the potion was injected, the skin near the needle mark immediately turned black, with the toxin traveling along the body’s veins, quickly covering half the arm.
The toxin spread too fast, the unlucky one immediately jumped out of the yard, not going far before hastily taking the antidote.
The other two saw him leave successfully then each took the syringe.
In less than half an hour, all three contacted Xu Huo, asking what exactly he wanted them to do.
Xu Huo didn’t reply immediately; the poison was concocted by Dr. Deng based on the toxic bacteria he brought back, with strong reproductive ability. A general antitoxin only treats the symptoms, not the root causes, as the bacteria would repeatedly grow and flare up, needing a targeted potion for a permanent solution, otherwise requiring prolonged treatment.
Trapped in Zone 039 and still needing to clear instances, obviously without such conditions, finding him to get the antidote was the best and easiest way.
During the three hours he waited, the three pursued him with different frequencies, increasingly urgently asking what exactly he wanted them to do.
After Gong Shu noted down everyone he could recall, and circled some who might still be alive, Xu Huo then cross-screened with the messages on the Collection of Information Terminal before sending the three different instructions.
What the three needed to do was investigate the people on the genealogy. Though many had died, the genealogy involved too many people.
After the initial screening, only ten names were on list for the first investigation. He divided nine among the three, with Xu Huo needing to personally investigate one.
After lingering in Linghe Town for half a day, he then headed to Moon Corner Duchy.
Crossing the borderline that intermittently broke into skirmishes, night had fallen. During the day, the temperature was incredibly high, at night though quite cool. After some effort, he found the local residents living tucked away in the nearby mountains, from them learned that "Wan Ping" in the genealogy was actually the border command "Wang Ping," with the surname changed only two years ago.
"Wang Ping" had quite a few family members, several talented players among the sons and nephews, allowing him to serve as the border command, usually not showing himself, residing in a city far from the border, finding him was very easy, no address needed, upon entering the city, locating the most beautiful building would lead to Wang Ping’s house.
Though previously informed, seeing the building from afar slightly exceeded one’s imagination.
The small city wasn’t particularly small, residential buildings were mainly high-rise, as they were quite old they seemed rather dim, but near the city center, a building stood exceptionally bright, all the city’s lights combined seemed dim compared to it, even at night its castle-like structure was distinctly visible in the city center, surrounded streets transformed into parks or lawns, and there were two sizable artificial lakes...
The whole building was incompatible with the city.
In such a place, even at night, many young people came to watch and take pictures.
Arriving nearby, Xu Huo coincidentally saw a helicopter arrive, two men disembarking in succession.
Upon landing, the two waved to the distant crowd, reciprocated by waves of screams.
The leading middle-aged man was Wang Ping, followed by his youngest son, a somewhat famous star in Moon Corner Duchy.
Servants came out from the castle to greet them, lining up on both sides, bending and sweetly calling, "Welcome home, master and young master."
The castle doors closed, simultaneously activating the defensive barrier, obscuring the view and unable to eavesdrop on conversations within the castle.
According to the Dou Family’s genealogy, Wan Ping should have been at least seventy, originally from a wealthy merchant family skilled in business, desired for recruitment, thus during wartime they lived relatively well.
Truly gaining prominence when Wan Ping and his three brothers successively became players, finding details about Wan Ping was easy, after becoming a Rank-C player he retired from the game, inheriting the Wan Family, the three brothers’ whereabouts unclear.
Currently, Wan Ping had nearly twenty sons and nephews, thirty grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, the third generation was relatively young, with the backbone being this middle generation, reportedly among the twenty sons and nephews, besides Wan Ping’s eldest, second, and newly-adult youngest sons confirmed to be his biological children with traceable mothers, others’ maternal identities were unknown, regardless of appearance differing greatly from him, conjecturing nieces and nephews was even harder.
Such a large family, half living in this castle.
Whether intentional or not, the Dou Family’s genealogy wrote only two of Wan Ping’s descendants, only those two’s children.
Regarding Wan Ping’s three brothers, skipping the second brother, noting down the third and fourth.
