Kaleidoscope of Death

Chapter 33 - The Diary

Briefly describing what he had just seen in the environment, Lin Qiushi fell silent.

Ruan Nanzhu listened to his words in deep thought, after a moment, he said, "Let's go to the top of the tower."

After saying that he got up and went towards the top of the tower, Lin Qiushi followed behind him in a trance, he always felt that the illusion just now was not that simple, it seemed to be hinting at something.

The top of the pagoda was empty, with nothing at all.

At the top of the tower was a hollow skylight, as long as one looked up, one could see the sky outside and a special round sculpture on top of the tower.

When Ruan Nanzhu looked at the sculpture, Cheng Qianli and Lin Qiushi didn't disturb him.

But just as he was about to talk to Cheng Qianli, there was a slight noise coming from the wall beside him.

It sounded like someone was picking at the wall with their fingers, making it very uncomfortable to listen to. Now Lin Qiushi had faintly noticed that his hearing seemed to be a bit too sharp, and he could easily catch sounds that no one could hear.

Lin Qiushi didn't ask Cheng Qianli if he had heard anything this time, he walked directly to the wall and knocked lightly with his hand. That scratching sound inside the wall immediately stopped, and then Lin Qiushi made a new discovery, he discovered that the entire wall at the top of the tower was empty only in this spot.

"There seems to be something inside." Lin Qiushi suddenly spoke out.

"What kind of thing?" Cheng Qianli Dao, "Here?" He knocked too, and indeed heard a hollow sound coming from inside.

Ruan Nan Candle withdrew his gaze that had been staring at the top of his head, "What?"

"This wall is empty," Lin Qiushi said, "I want to see if I can pry it open."

Ruan Nam Candle came over and stretched out his hand to feel around the edge of the wall, then pulled out a sharp, hard object from his pocket and began to pry slowly. His movements were deft, as if he was already very familiar with this kind of work, and soon, the edge of this wall was actually pried out of a gap by him.

Lin Qiushi was dumbfounded as he looked at it, "It can still be like this?"

Cheng Qianli: "This is still a normal operation, Nguyen is awesome."

After the wall in front of him was pried open, a secret compartment was revealed, which was a small red box that was unlocked.

Ruan Nan Candle reached out and took out that box.

The three of them focused their attention on the box, and with a slight movement of Ruan Nan Candle's hand, he opened the lid of the box, revealing something inside that somewhat resembled a hard cover book.

"This can't be a diary or something." Cheng Qianli was instantly interested, picking up the book and starting to flip through it, "Could there be a clue to the key inside."

After opening the book, they saw the contents inside.

The front of the notebook all had the same sentence written on it: she's missing.

She's gone, she's gone, she's gone, she's gone, different notes, the same words, taking up every page of the paper, making it very uncomfortable to look at.

Ruan Nan Candle quickly flipped to the end, and when she was about to finish, she finally saw different words. On the last page of the book, the four words she was missing were replaced by another sentence: she couldn't be found.

"What's this?" Cheng Qianli immediately remembered the clue they had gotten, "This was written by your sister?"

Ruan Nanzhu was still bowing his head, examining the book carefully, and after a moment, he pointed to one of the pages, "There's still a page in the middle, it's been torn away."

Lin Qiushi took a look and found that there was indeed a page missing there. It was just torn very neatly, if you didn't look at it carefully, you couldn't really see it, thanks to Ruan Nan Candle's carefulness, this could be seen.

"How did you find this wall faulty?" Ruan Nan Candle asked a question.

Lin Qiushi: "...I heard someone scratching the wall."

Cheng Qianli the goods actually stretched out his hand and just scratched the wall a few times: "Like this?"

The sound creaked and squeaked, engaging Lin Qiushi's scalp to instantly explode.

Ruan Nanzhu scolded, "You claw a little more cheap go back and see how I let your brother deal with you."

Cheng Qianli quickly took his claws back and stoically said he was just demonstrating.

Ruan Nanzhu: "The last such demonstration of the grave grass is already five meters high."

Putting the notebook into the bag he was carrying, Ruan Nan Candle said, "I feel like we still have to go back to the temple."

"What do you mean?" Lin Qiushi was a bit confused.

Ruan Nan Candle said, "It's just a guess now, I'll talk to you when I'm sure."

While they were discussing, a miserable scream came from the first floor, followed by the sound of people running around in panic on the stairs.

"There's a ghost, there's a ghost!!!" The owner of the voice was still calling for help.

Lin Qiushi and Ruan Nam Candle looked at each other and saw the same expression in each other's eyes, Lin Qiushi said, "Let's go."

Ruan Nam Candle nodded and they both planned to go down to see what had happened.

By the time they reached the fourth floor where the accident had occurred, the commotion had subsided.

The woman who had screamed was now shivering and hiding in the arms of her male counterpart, her face full of fear, shivering and pointing at the wall, "There, there's a ghost shadow-"

Because of her scream, almost everyone had gathered on the fourth floor, and Lin Qiushi rushed to where the woman was pointing, but all he saw was black walls.

"What the hell is that shadow?" The man holding the woman in his arms asked, "What exactly did you see?"

"It's just a ghostly shadow." The woman shuddered, "I can't say..."

"What a fuss." Someone in the team muttered quietly, "It's literally like entering the house for the first time, calling out like that when you see a ghostly figure, it's really no good."

The woman seemed to hear the person's words and became very angry all of a sudden, she said, "What's wrong with me calling out if there's something, it's better than just dying dumbly."

"Alright, alright, just as long as nothing happened." Belinda Mong played round, "So many people don't gather on the same floor, if something happens they can't get away..."

When the crowd saw that nothing serious was happening, they planned to disperse.

The screaming woman was ready to go too, but something seemed to hook her shirt, and she started to think it was the person behind her, and tugged twice on her sleeve in a very unhappy way, "What are you doing, don't pull my shirt."

"I told you, don't pull my shirt!" She was tugged twice more and finally got angry, glaring behind her in annoyance, but the glance made her blood freeze instantly.

There was nothing behind her, nothing at all.

"Ah..." the woman's body was a little cold, she even took a step to leave the place, however, as she took a step, a pair of bloody hands suddenly reached out and grabbed her feet.

"Ah...N-no!" The woman wanted to scream, but her mouth was covered by another pair of hands, she turned her head with difficulty, and saw that the smooth wall just now was actually stretching out countless pairs of scarlet arms, wrapped around her body, dragging her forcefully into the wall.

She wanted to scream, her mouth was covered with a death gag, unable to make a single sound.

The male companion she was traveling with also noticed something was wrong, but when he looked back, the woman had already been pulled into the wall... but within a few breaths, a large, living person who was still fine, was gone.

A blankness appeared on the man's face as he said, "Have you seen Yoshi?"

Yoshi was the woman's name.

"Yoshi? Wasn't she just here..." the man in front of her was also confused and looked behind him, but didn't see the woman's shadow, "She didn't go upstairs, did she?"

"I'll go see." The man quickly climbed to the top of the tower, but he didn't see the person he was looking for at all, and by the time he returned to the crowd, his pale face was covered in cold sweat, "She's...she's gone."

Disappeared? Once that was said, everyone quieted down. If a person suddenly disappeared in the outside world, a careful search would definitely find them, but in the world inside the door, missing was almost the same as death.

"Wasn't there someone else missing in the temple hall yesterday." Someone remembered something, "Could they all be..."

"I don't think we need to look for her," Belinda Mong blurted out, "She's definitely gone."

"Why do you say that!" The man looked a little angry.

"Don't you remember what the guide told us when he first brought us here?" Belinda appeared calm in the face of the man's hostility, "She said no loud noises in the tower group, did Yoshi just scream?"

The man was silent at the news.

"There's something to be heard." Belinda Mong, "What about you guys, what did you just see on the stairs?"

He faced Lin Qiushi and Ruan Nam Candle and inquired.

"I saw a drum." Ruan Nan Candle said softly, "I didn't dare touch it, so I came down."

Belinda Mong: "A drum? I'll go check it out." He said and turned around with a few people around him to go to the roof.

Ruan Nan Candle watched his back, but pursed her lips gently.

They all very tacitly kept the secret of that diary, and although they didn't know why, they always felt it was better not to say it out loud in a hurry.

The disappearing Yoshi never appeared again.

The people hiding in the tower were trembling with fear, no one dared to wander around anymore, afraid that the screams they would make if they saw something would lead to death.

Lin Qiushi and the others weren't wandering around anymore, Ruan Nanzhu leaned on Lin Qiushi's shoulder and closed his eyes.

Cheng Qianli was squatting at the window looking out.

The sky was getting darker and the whistling wind was getting louder and louder, even taking on a miserable smell.

Lin Qiushi was originally leaning against the wall, but he always felt uncomfortable after leaning against it for a while, so he straightened up and sat up. This posture was rather tiring, but when he thought about what he had seen inside the illusion just now, he felt that it was okay to be a little tired, it was better than leaning on human skin.

"How much longer." Cheng Qianli asked in a low voice.

Lin Qiushi looked at his phone, there was still twenty minutes before the time they had agreed with the guide.

Cheng Qianli: "Twenty minutes ah, there's still so long..." he listlessly lay on the window, "want my brother's oil tea, plus spicy kind."

Lin Qiushi reached out and ran a hand over his head.

These twenty minutes could almost be described as a degree of time, and the team didn't even have the simplest of conversations anymore.

As the sky gradually darkened, the tour guide, dressed in red, finally appeared in front of everyone.

"Hello guys, are you having a good time today?" The guide smiled and waved the flag in his hand, "I'm sure you all have a good taste of the local customs and culture."

No one said anything, and everyone's faces looked like they had been robbed of their lives.

"Then, let's go back." The guide smiled and stepped into the jungle with everyone in tow.

It wasn't easy to descend the mountain when it was almost dark, and everyone helped each other and finally returned to their residence after an hour's journey.

After a simple dinner, they all went back to their rooms to rest with a weary look on their faces.

Cheng Qianli followed Ruan Nanzhu and the others back to their room, he was originally sleeping in the same room as the other two, but after all that had happened today, he wanted to squeeze in a night with Lin Qiushi.

"You really want to squeeze in with me?" Lin Qiushi said.

"Squeeze it." Cheng Qianli looked at Lin Qiushi pitifully, trying to get him to soften, "I'll be more familiar with you guys."

Lin Qiushi looked at Ruan Nan Candle, who nodded slightly before he said goodbye.

Lin Qiushi agreed, but some people were dissatisfied, Xu Jin didn't dare to follow them up to the top of the tower today, sitting alone under the tower all day, now he heard that Cheng Qianli still had to rely on here at night, and came in a small voice, "You don't think he's fat, ah?"

Cheng Qianli was baffled by the words, "Fat? I'm not fat."

Lin Qiushi: "Yeah, he's not fat."

Xu Jin: "........Then what happened to you calling me fat yesterday? Can this person still be good.

Lin Qiushi has apparently completely forgotten yesterday's excuse for rejecting Xu Jin, and Cheng Qianli began discussing who would sleep inside and who would sleep outside today.

Xu Jin sits on the edge of the bed with her mouth full and sulking, and Ruan Nan Candle is there to comfort her, saying that you're not fat, it's Yu Lin Lin's aesthetics that are faulty, and that men are big pig's feet.

Xu Jin condescendingly expressed her approval.

Lin Qiushi and Cheng Qianli were in a fog the entire time, completely confused as to what was going on in their conversation, he was just worried that he and Xu Jin were inseparable, so how did he become a big pig's hoof. And Xu Jin, the biggest pig's hoof here is sitting right next to you....

After a day's walk in the mountains today, everyone was a little tired, almost all of them dipped their pillows on it, even Lin Qiushi who has always been a very shallow sleeper.

But in the middle of the night Lin Qiushi always felt someone moving around, he thought it was Cheng Qianli so he didn't pay too much attention until the next morning when he woke up, Cheng Qianli complained that Lin Qiushi said why he had been up all night.

"Get up at night? I didn't." Lin Qiushi, "I slept so well yesterday that I didn't go to the bathroom once."

"You're lying." Cheng Qianli said, "You were up bright and early..."

Lin Qiushi: "I really didn't get up, but I also felt that someone was moving around."

Their eyes shifted to the remaining two people in the house, Xu Jin shook his head in panic to show that he didn't get up either, while Ruan Nan Candle didn't even have to ask, he was usually the one with the best quality of sleep and very strong kidney function, basically sleeping through the night and never getting up at dawn.

"That's who's walking." Cheng Qianli blanched.

As they were talking, Ruan Nan Candle suddenly stood up, he walked up to them, squatted down, and cast his gaze under their bed.

Lin Qiushi was shocked by his movement, "What's wrong?"

Ruan Nan Candle didn't say anything, just stretched out his hand and pointed, "You can see for yourselves."

Lin Qiushi and Cheng Qianli bent down in trepidation and saw what Ruan Nan Candle was talking about. They saw that the wooden floor beneath their bed was actually covered with dense red bloody handprints, which spread from the floor to the walls, looking oozingly odious.

"Fuck!!!" Cheng Qianli finally couldn't hold back and started screaming like a screaming chicken again, screaming that Lin Qiushi's brain hurt, and even thought the image wasn't that scary anymore.

"Can you stop screaming like that?" Lin Qiushi said painfully.

"How awful!!!" Cheng Qianli was lying on top of the half-squatting Lin Qiushi, grabbing his hair and screaming at the thief.

"You let go of my hair, let go!!!" Lin Qiushi was also angry, "Hurry up and untie me!!!"

Cheng Qianli: "I'm so scared ahhhh!!!"

Lin Qiushi: "Makuyu - "Do you know what a designer treasures most? It's the hair! It's the hairline! Cheng Qianli's little brat is grabbing his hair like it's grass, who knows if it will affect the roots!

Cheng Qianli finally loosened his hand: "I'm sorry, I was too excited."

Xu Jin looked at the two people in front of him with a numb face and turned to Ruan Nan Candle: "Zhu Meng, let's go eat."

Ruan Nan Candle: "Yes."

Then they held hands and happily went out for breakfast. Leaving the two big pig-hoofs staring at the bloody handprints on the floor.

"Let's go." Lin Qiushi said, "Since we're still alive, that means it didn't want us dead."

Cheng Qianli sighed, "This door is also too dangerous." It was a good thing he didn't get up yesterday to see what was going on, but if he did, God knows what he would have seen crawling on the ground.

After a listless breakfast, that tour guide showed up again right on time.

She simply looked like a doll, with that formatted smile on her face forever, even the waving of the flag in her hands seemed to be consistent.

She said, "Today we're going to show you a temple, that temple is the most beautiful building here, I'm sure you'll be captivated by its elegance after seeing it, there's no time to lose, let's get going!"

Lin Qiushi then frowned, "Why does that sound so familiar."

"Of course it's familiar." Belinda Meng happened to be next to him and came in a nonchalant manner, "She said the exact same thing on the first day as well."

Lin Qiushi: "........"

As expected, when the crowd set off, the guide began to introduce the local customs again, except that everyone had heard these words before on the first day, and there was hardly any difference in either the order or tone of the words.

This strange situation caused everyone to show discomfort.

"It's not going to be repeated all the time, is it?" Xu Jin whispered, "Do we have to go to that tower once more?"

"Can't say." Lin Qiushi shook his head, "I guess we'll have to look at it for another two days."

Xu Jin didn't say anything. Going to a place where several people died, they were only a dozen in total, did they have to die in this world until there was only one left to escape?

Apparently Xu Jin wasn't the only one who had such thoughts, and everyone's faces were inscrutable.

The second time they came before the temple, the four of them didn't rush in.

This was Ruan Nanzhu's suggestion, he said that since he had observed the inside before, he would observe the outside this time, so he led the three of them to start exploring around the temple.

The temple was surrounded by dense trees, and the sunlight streamed down in layers, leaving only dull spots on the ground.

There were tiny vines and ferns clinging to the stone path, making rustling noises as they stepped on them. The temple was so high that they could barely see the top from their angle, and the music remained continuous, as if the person playing it would never stop.

"This temple's architecture is so strange." After observing the circle, the more Lin Qiushi, who was the designer, looked at it, the more he felt something was wrong, "The entire temple is circular?"

"Round?" It was fine not to say that, but Cheng Qianli also noticed it when he said, "Right, oh, the whole temple is round."

There weren't many round temples, one could even say that they were rare.

"What do you guys think of when you see round?" Ruan Nan Candle asked.

After a moment's silence, Lin Qiushi and Cheng Qianli gave the same answer: "Drum."

Ruan Nam Candle: "I think..."

Lin Qiushi: "Huh?"

Ruan Nanzhu: "We have to go up to the top of the temple to have a look."

Cheng Qianli stared at it: "Really? The top of the temple...but the man who disappeared the day before yesterday, wasn't it because he looked at the ceiling?"

"Right." Ruan Nam Candle, "But the clues should be up there as well." He reached down and pressed his bag, "Remember what we saw on top of the tower yesterday?"

Of course it was impossible to forget, Lin Qiushi still remembered the touch of his hand pressing on that human skin drum. But the thing Ruan Nam Candle was talking about shouldn't be the drum, but the diary they found in the wall.

"We may not have much time," Nguyen Nam Candle said, "We have to do something."

At first glance, there wasn't much basis for Ruan Nan Candle's statement about running out of time, but Lin Qiushi remembered those bloody handprints under his bed. He wasn't sure if it was an accident or a warning, but all in all, those things were clearly not a good omen.

This temple was high, and there were no stairs to get to the top.

But the way was always better than the difficulty, and if you wanted to get up there, you would always find a way.

After circling around the side of the temple, Ruan Nan Candle had an idea, the remaining three were a bit stunned upon hearing his idea, and Lin Qiushi spoke with consternation, "You mean using that wooden platform from that day...?"

Ruan Nam Candle: "Hmm."

Lin Qiushi: "But isn't that wooden platform a sky burial platform?"

Ruan Nan Candle nodded.

Lin Qiushi worried, "And there are those things up there, rashly going up like this..."

Ruan Nan Candle looked at him: "If you want to survive, you have to take some risks."

That's right, Lin Qiushi sighed slightly in his heart, shrugging off the hesitation in his heart: "You're too weak, it's better for me to do it."

Author has something to say: ruan nan candle: men are all big pig's feet, I just like to eat pig's feet.

Lin Qiushi:........

Lim Chok-seok was actually in a fantasy world when he yelled yesterday, but I modified the adjective to avoid any misunderstanding and deleted the loudness.
