Chapter 21: The Grant Family’s Little Princess
This was Mason Grant’s third time acting as a dance partner recently.
The previous two times were for his nieces, two six-year-old girls from the younger generation of the Grant family. They had just started learning etiquette, and Mason Grant was their practice partner.
Although his two nieces were young, they were quick learners.
They could grasp the basics of social etiquette in a single afternoon. All they needed was a bit more practice. After a few diligent sessions, their movements were already perfect.
But Shelly Lowell was not like that.
She was very opinionated, believing the etiquette teacher was doing a poor job. She thought the moves would look more elegant and beautiful if she did them her own way.
"Mr. Zane."
Shelly Lowell was particularly wary of Mr. Zane. She felt that he was someone Vivian Lowell had brought in and wouldn’t teach her properly. "Is this move really supposed to be like this?" she asked.
"Why does it feel so awkward when I do it? And it doesn’t even look good!"
Mr. Zane was nearly stunned by the question.
’What does Shelly Lowell mean by this?’
’Is she questioning my professionalism?’
"Miss Lowell."
Mr. Zane remained polite, a standard smile on his face. "This is how it has always been in Western social etiquette," he said.
"You’re probably not used to it because you’ve had little exposure to it growing up. Look, Mr. Grant was just doing it very well with you. Just follow his lead."
...
Shelly Lowell was so angry she wanted to stomp her feet. She glanced over at Vivian Lowell, who was sitting nearby playing on her phone.
Vivian Lowell was lounging on an armchair. On the small, low, round coffee table in front of her sat a cup of black tea and a slice of tiramisu. She looked utterly comfortable.
Vivian’s gaze would drift over Shelly’s face from time to time, and the smile on Vivian’s face gave Shelly only one impression—
Vivian was mocking her!
In a foul mood, Shelly shot a glare at Vivian before continuing to practice her social etiquette with Mason Grant.
Vivian was, in fact, mocking Shelly.
Shelly Lowell’s features were quite good, but the environment she grew up in was just too poor. Her family of origin had a huge impact on her.
She was selfish and couldn’t stand to see others doing better than her.
In her previous life, she had been willing to learn diligently from Vivian only because she saw herself as the true heiress, high and mighty, and was just using the fool that was Vivian.
Now, Vivian had her own plans and was no longer willing to be foolishly used by Shelly, so Shelly was naturally displeased.
Watching the clumsy Shelly, Vivian didn’t find it particularly funny, just a bit boring. She casually picked up her phone and snapped a picture of Shelly and Mason Grant’s lesson.
Then, she casually posted it in the Grant Family’s group chat.
Vivian knew that Mason Grant’s two nieces, though young, were sharp as tacks. They both adored Mason and had previously been extremely critical of Vivian.
Thanks to Vivian’s good temper and her coaxing of the two little Princesses, their relationship was actually quite decent.
However, Vivian was no longer the Lowell family heiress.
’Most likely, these two little Princesses look down on me now,’ she mused.
But it didn’t matter. Vivian didn’t care.
She posted the photo in the group chat simply to let the two little Princesses see just how "outstanding" the real Lowell family heiress was.
The moment the photo was posted, the group chat, which was initially quiet, exploded.
Princess A seemed utterly shocked. After tagging Vivian, she wrote, "Is that Shelly Lowell? The real Lowell Family heiress?"
Vivian replied, "Yep, she’s learning with Mason Grant right now."
Princess A went silent.
The news of the Lowell Family finding their true daughter hadn’t spread widely in their social circle yet.
Sharon Galahad and Robert Lowell’s intention was to wait until Shelly was "presentable" before announcing the matter. That way, people would see how outstanding their daughter was.
It was just like that in her previous life.
Everyone knew Shelly had returned, but the first time anyone actually saw her was a month later.
By then, Shelly’s etiquette and dancing were already well-practiced. She was poised and graceful in her interactions, and with her new clothes and style, she truly looked the part of a wealthy young lady.
Moreover, Vivian had also given her own design sketches to Shelly, and had even taught her how to answer questions about the design concepts.
Shelly had done very well, answering fluently. The outside world unanimously agreed that Shelly was a talented woman.
Shelly was very good at putting on a facade.
At least, when she knew she stood to gain something, she was more than willing to play the part.
For instance, she didn’t like Mason Grant at all, yet she could act like a fangirl, clinging to him all day and getting him to do this and that for her.
Vivian knew about this from her past life.
Shelly loved attending all sorts of social events, meeting numerous men, adding them as friends, and contacting them whenever she felt like it. She was the very image of a Player King cultivating her pond.
When Vivian found out, Shelly simply said they were all business partners of the Lowell Family, and she had to curry favor with them and couldn’t afford to offend a single one.
’Couldn’t afford to offend a single one?’
’To me, it looked more like Shelly wanted to use every single one of them!’
Returning to the present, Vivian looked at her phone again and saw dozens of unread messages.
While Vivian had been lost in thought, the Grant family’s two little Princesses had started private messaging her. Without exception, they were all asking Vivian about the real situation with Shelly.
What they really wanted to know was whether Shelly was worthy of Mason Grant.
Looking at her constantly vibrating phone, Vivian sent the exact same reply to both little Princesses: "As for whether she’s worthy or not, why don’t you come to the Lowell estate and see for yourselves?"
After she sent the replies, the other side went instantly quiet.
Vivian knew the two little Princesses’ personalities; they were both a bit impulsive.
Kids, right? It was the age where they feared nothing.
Perfect. Once she had lured them over, they would keep Shelly busy, and Vivian wouldn’t have to worry about not having time to go to Shelly’s room and look at those old photos.
Estimating the time, just before the two little Princesses were due to arrive, Vivian said she had to step out to make a phone call and left the dance studio.
Shelly’s gaze followed Vivian, displeased that she was just leaving like that.
’She promised to teach me, but then she hires some no-name amateur, and now she’s running off herself. I’m definitely telling Sharon Galahad on her later!’
Just as she was thinking this, two small heads peeked into the dance studio from outside.
These two were, of course, the Grant family’s little Princesses.
The Grant Family and the Lowell Family had always been on good terms, so of course, the Grants knew where the Lowell estate was.
The moment Vivian sent her message, the two of them had immediately dropped what they were doing and rushed over.
