King of Hollywood

Chapter 43: Investing?

It's hard to describe how Kate felt when she opened the door more than eight hours later and saw the wind and dust servant with her tired Adrian. She stayed at the door for about a few minutes, then unbelievably rubbed her eyes, screamed into Adrian's arms, and took Adrian back a few steps with too much impulse to stand still.

This is not over. The next second she blocked Adrian's mouth and sucked it desperately. She swapped the liquid for several minutes without stopping. She didn't care about the expression of the surrounding pedestrians and the family standing at the door, as if she could not express her ecstasy without doing so.

“I can't believe it... I can't believe you... you actually showed up in front of me..." Kate was so excited with Adrian's face, her bright eyes glistening with crystal glow.

“If you want me to come, I'll come.” Adrian shrugged his shoulders and gave a tired smile, "Anyway, I'm on vacation now and it's easy to get to London. ”

In exchange for Kate's carefree and painful kiss, this is what happens to women, especially young women like her who are emotionally knocked out of their heads by love. But once their lovers express themselves in action, putting them in the most important place in their hearts, they can't be touched enough. If your lover does something that's insignificant, if you want me to look like this at any time, it will make them more satisfied.

Adrian, two generations old, is so familiar with these means that he can no longer be familiar.

For the next three or four days, Kate naturally stayed with Adrian all the time after she took a vacation from school, and the two traveled and even went to the northernmost part of British Island to see the ocean. Even though her mother warned her not to go home for long, she used "I'm an adult" to go straight back.

Four days later, however, Adrian had to go back to Los Angeles because LaVerne called to remind him to attend a party at the Baccarat Hotel over the weekend, and that Adrian, as the owner of the company and director and producer of Two Big Smoke Guns and Memory Shards, was unlikely to speculate, not to mention that there were important things to do at the party. So even if they both feel like it, they kiss goodbye at Heathrow International Airport.

“Hello, Mr. Adrian. Nice to meet you.” Adrian, who gave the car keys to the waiter at the door, just walked into the lobby and the lobby manager, who was staying here, greeted him warmly.

“Hey, Mabs, how you doing?” Adrian laughed and greeted each other because during that haunted time, the managers of the famous hotels in Los Angeles knew him almost entirely - and that was kind of a connection.

“Same old,” Mabs shrugged, "can I help you? Today you seem...”

He looked behind Adrian by accident, and Adrian probably knew what he was thinking, and although he had to cry, he didn't show up on his face.

“Nothing, I have a party here in the Blue Room on the seventh floor.” Adrian made some brief explanations.

“Blue Hall?” How could Mabs, as a lobby manager, not know who was at the Blue Hall gathering? He couldn't help but raise his eyebrows unexpectedly. He hasn't seen this dude in almost a year, how can he seem to be a different person? Of course, as an eye-catching man, he won't talk much, nods his voice and leans aside.

Adrian also stopped talking, patting Mabs on the shoulder and walking towards the elevator. He quickly arrived on the seventh floor and signed the waiter's name outside the door, walking into the Blue Hall where the party had just begun.

The whole Blue Hall is full of people, three, two, two, talking to each other in cups, most of them Bosworth Film Corporation employees, the others are invited guests: men and women on the first and second lines, producers, directors of various companies, etc.

Parties are an integral part of American life, and those with party animal titles tend not to get tired of catching up a few times a night. But parties are not just for carnival, and those charitable dinners, political fundraiser dinners, celebrity parties, etc. can all be summed up in this definition of party. So, the party is an important social occasion at some point, and it's quite helpful to get to know and develop connections, such as the fact that a large number of guests from around the world are invited to the party tonight.

“Hey, Ed, you're late.” Brandt? Irwin first found Adrian, and he smiled and shook Adrian's hand.

“I'm sorry, I need to adjust the jet lag and the traffic wasn't very good when I added it up.” Adrian shrugged his shoulders and swept around, "I guess I'm not the last one. ”

“You won't be disappointed.” Brandt knew what he was thinking, smiled and patted him on the arm and pulled him to a middle-aged man about 45 or 6 years old.

“This is our general manager, Elaine? Mr. Edo.” said Bertrand.

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Edo.” Adrian smiled and reached out.

“Me too, Mr. Corwell, you can call me Elaine.” They smile the same way, “although I know you're young, I couldn't help but be surprised, now it's a young man's world? ”

“It's just a small achievement, and I need to work harder - you can call me Adrian. ”

“This is not a small achievement, Adrian, where almost no director can produce two low-cost high-box office films in a year, and get awards at different film festivals, too modesty is pride. ”

“I'm just being honest, Elaine, I don't deny that I did well, but I won't ignore others' credit for that. Without my production team, without that brilliant general manager, without the global distribution, without all of this, it is not certain that we will be able to achieve this. ”

They bragged and tested each other, then Elaine left for a while, and Brandt, who had been nearby, came back: “Looks like you're having a good conversation. ”

“Indeed, there is a brilliant general manager around the world who has taught me a lot," Adrian nodded to him, "and by the way, Brandt, I haven't congratulated you on your promotion. ”

“I was just lucky," Brandt shrugged, "and happened to meet you. ”

They looked at each other and laughed. It is clear to each other that if only Bertrand had been with Adrian ever since, Bertrand would not be here today.

“Straight, which movie do you want me to direct?" Screaming "? Or American pie?” Adrian stopped circling and asked straight out.

“Whatever you choose," Brandt starts, “both films are almost ready for their pre-work, you can direct any one you want, and if you have any comments on the actor or anything else, you can always come up with them. ”

“Such generosity, I'm sure not many will refuse.” Adrian laughed and made GlobeCo do with both of his reputable movies in a year, as well as the screenplays he sold earlier.

For example, the campus comedy "Ten Things I Hate About You" sold to Worldwide was released at the end of January this year at a cost of 42 million boxes. Other movie companies, besides Warner, made more or less, and Warner's one invited Whitney on Adrian's cue? Houston and Kevin? Costner's "Bodyguard" appearance, although adjusted to this year's summer break for optimal results due to a larger investment, was considered very impressive by the majority of those attending the trial session.

As a result, Adrian's weight is even heavier in the eyes of film companies at the top, and the world of near-water floors naturally wants to pull him further.

“So you said yes?” Bertrand asked hastily.

“I'm sorry, Brandt, but I've got other plans, though it's tempting.” Adrian shook his head and refused. The feeling of pulling together was far from enough.

“I remember last year in London, when you told me that no one knew your script better than you.” Bertrand continues to persuade.

“I'm really sorry, Brandt, if it was any other time I would definitely consider it, but I have other plans now.” Adrian sincerely said, "a new film is already under preparation. ”

It's all happening, and Brandt can't say anything. After all, they have their own movie company.

“New movie? You've got a lot of energy, and the second one isn't offline yet.” He mumbled, "Well, then, hopefully we'll have a chance to work together in the future. ”

“Perhaps we can work together now," Adrian said suddenly, "just in another way. ”

“Another way?” Bertrand asked puzzled.

“My new movie is much bigger than the previous two, maybe Universal could consider participating?” Adrian looked at Brandt with a smile.

Brandt's eyes suddenly lit up: "Can I know what kind of movie you're going to make? ”

“A dramatic film, adapted from Stephen? Kim's second novel in" Different Seasons ":" Redemption of Rita Hayworth and Shawshenk Prisons ".” Adrian said not slowly.

“Can't believe you beat up Stephen? Kim's idea," Brandt exclaims, "I think I'll have to talk to Mr. Elaine first, Ed, but I'm sure it'll be fine. ”

“I believe it too.” Adrian nodded, with two pieces of "Two Big Smoke Guns" and "Memory Shards", as well as several previous screenplays, and it was easy to get investment from a big company like Globe.

I just don't know what they'll look like after a loss. Adrian said so in his heart. Though The Redemption of Shawshenk is the most perfect film of all time, and basically deserves it, few people know that the investment was less than 30 million dollars in the original box office of the film, which was about $25 million.
