King of the Wilderness

Tears, uncontrollable, slipped from her blue eyes.

"I... I don’t know..." Her voice was choked with sobs, filled with confusion, "I never thought... you would... I thought you would hate me..."

Aliya and Emily exchanged a smile, sitting by Max’s side, one on the left and one on the right, gently embracing her like true sisters.

"Silly girl, how could we hate you?" Aliya gently patted her back, like comforting a wronged child, "We would only be happy for him having met such a wonderful girl like you."

Emily softly comforted too, "Take your time, no hurry. Give yourself some time, and give us some time too. Whatever your final decision, we will respect it."

Aliya released her, wiped away her tears, and once again, a radiant smile appeared on her face.

"Alright, dear, no more crying. Today’s theme isn’t meant for you to shed tears." She playfully winked, "Now, let’s go and see those two kids who also need a home!"

The next day, at the familiar enclosure of the Arctic Biological Research Center, when that heavy iron door was pushed open again.

Originally lazily lying on the artificial iceberg, batting a red rubber ball with its massive paw, December suddenly lifted its head upon catching that familiar scent.

Over the past few months, its size had changed dramatically. At six months old, it weighed over one hundred fifty pounds, standing almost reaching the waist of an adult.

Beneath its thick, white fur was a body starting to show smooth muscle lines.

The once chubby cheeks began to elongate, revealing the distinct elongated muzzle contour of a polar bear, losing the last bit of baby fat, seemingly a young beast with a budding regal presence.

When it saw the figure it dreamt about, its obsidian-like eyes instantly burst with light as dazzling as a supernova explosion!

"Awooo——!!!"

A voice no longer childish, instead with a unique mix of adolescent bear’s depth and penetrating howl, echoed throughout the hall.

Its massive body, in an unexpected agility not matching its size, leaped down more than two meters high from the artificial iceberg, its four large paws creating a trail of snowflakes in the snow, like an out-of-control white little tank, rushing recklessly toward Lin Yu’an!

Meanwhile, Little Amber, previously curled up at the foot of the iceberg napping like the older sister, was startled awake by the sudden commotion.

A bit bewildered, it lifted its fluffy little head, its blue eyes filled with confusion.

Not understanding what had happened, but it could clearly sense the overwhelming emotion of joy, almost overflowing from this big sister beside it.

It saw sister December racing towards that tall man, emitting a sound so happy it had never heard before.

In its somewhat slow yet pure world, the logic was very simple: sister’s happy thing must be the best thing in the world!

So it immediately wobbled to its feet, stepping out with its short little legs, tightly following behind December, while also trying hard to mimic the awooo awooo sounds, as if cheering for sister’s charge.

Lin Yu’an laughed as he opened his arms, firmly catching December who crashed into his embrace like a cannonball. The massive impact made him involuntarily step back half a step, and the heavy weight allowed him to truly feel the little one’s growth.

It pushed itself into his embrace with all its might, its fluffy big head rubbing against his chest, emitting a purring sound of satisfaction from its throat, as if to unleash all the accumulated longing of these days at this moment.

And following closely behind, Little Amber saw its sister embracing this two-legged being, eagerly nudged closer. Mimicking December, it used its black-and-yellow striped little head, persistently rubbing against Lin Yu’an’s leg.

Its strength wasn’t much, rubbing made Lin Yu’an ticklish, while constantly making pleasing little grunts.

Lin Yu’an was completely melted by these two little ones’ enthusiasm. He held December’s sturdy back tightly with one hand, while the other hand crouched down, gently stroking Amber’s soft back fur.

"Alright alright, my two sweethearts, I know you missed me."

At this moment, Aliya and Emily also walked in. Watching this already formidable beast coquettishly act in Lin Yu’an’s embrace left their faces filled with shock and amazement.

December poked its head out of Lin Yu’an’s embrace, curiously observing these two strangers emitting a pleasant aroma.

It could feel a similar aura of kindness from them akin to Lin Yu’an’s, easing much of its natural vigilance.

It jumped down from Lin Yu’an’s arms, stepping steadily, actively walking to the feet of Aliya and Emily.

Its enormous head just about reached their thighs, using its moist black nose, first gently sniffing on Aliya’s pant leg, then lifted its head, uttering a curious "Awooo?" sound, as if greeting.

Aliya was startled by this sudden closeness, but seeing December’s clear and innocent eyes, her tension instantly transformed into fondness.
