Civilians on the street scrambled for cover, watching the sudden conflict in terror.

A few brave citizens started to help the Cavalry, attacking the fleeing gang members with clubs and pitchforks.

Under the charge of the Cavalry, the gang members completely fell apart.

Henry sat on his horse, coldly observing the scene. If anyone had told him this was a coincidence, he wouldn’t have believed it for a second.

’Looks like someone’s trying to cause trouble for me. But this method is a bit too crude, tsk.’

As the last gang member was subdued, the chaos on the streets finally died down.

Several Security Teams arrived "fashionably late." Henry snorted. ’These guys really are just here to clean up the mess. Useless trash. Good for nothing but eating.’

The Cavalry began to clear the scene, helping injured civilians and escorting the arrested gang members to prison alongside the Security Team.

The Governor and the nobles breathed a sigh of relief, looking at Henry with gratitude.

Without Henry and his Cavalry, today’s riot could have escalated into a catastrophe. Their careers... no, the Empire doesn’t have official’s hats like that, but in any case, their positions and futures would have been utterly ruined.

Henry dismounted and walked up to the Governor. "Has anything like this ever happened before?"

The Governor frantically shook his head, insisting he had no idea this would happen. Cold sweat dripped down his back; he felt as if the sky were falling.

The few court nobles beside him were in no better state, their faces pale with fear of earning Henry’s blame and resentment.

This was a disaster from out of the blue! Who could have imagined that a peaceful city like Lukaron could erupt into a public riot?

Henry stroked his chin in thought for a moment, his brow furrowed and a cold glint flashing in his eyes.

He first ruled out the Emperor. The Emperor wasn’t that petty, nor would he play such a low-level game right on his own doorstep.

’Too low-brow. It doesn’t suit the Emperor’s status.’

Next, he ruled out the several Princes. They had neither the ability nor the guts to play such dirty tricks right under their father’s nose.

The Emperor would definitely uncover the truth behind such an act, and they were the ones who depended most on his favor to survive.

One should not underestimate the Emperor’s control over the Empire. Many riots were, in fact, intentionally allowed by the Emperor, who would go with the flow to achieve other objectives.

That left only one possibility...

The Grand Dukes! There were still several Dukes in the Empire with royal blood.

’Well now, it seems these Grand Dukes aren’t so upstanding. They’re trying to incite a conflict, or at least create a rift, between me and the Emperor.’

Henry sneered. ’It seems in the eyes of the other nobles, I’m just a brute who only knows how to fight.’

If things had gone according to their plan, he and the Emperor would eventually have a falling out. The moment Henry fired the first shot on the steppes, these Dukes could then "righteously" rally to the king’s side!

As everyone knows, ’rallying to the king’s side’ often ends with ’seizing the king’ instead.

’Sons of bitches. The Emperor’s throne really is a hot commodity. Everyone wants a turn sitting on it.’

Henry could understand people having ambition and wanting to get ahead, but they never, ever should have targeted him with their petty schemes.

’Am I a good person? Of course not! Do they take me for some pushover? Causing trouble for me on such an auspicious day?’

The moment he found out who the mastermind behind these underhanded tactics was, he would chop the schemer to pieces with an axe!

He wouldn’t let anyone ruin his relationship with the Emperor. ’If it’s going to be ruined, I’ll be the one to do it.’

More importantly, he would not let anyone use him to achieve their own goals.

Henry’s gaze swept over the Governor and the nobles. "I will get to the bottom of this. If I find out who was pulling the strings, I promise they will regret ever being born into this world."

The Governor and the nobles looked at each other, feeling the chill in Henry’s words. They all nodded in support.

They knew Henry wasn’t joking. He had the power to back it up.

The Governor immediately declared that he would have the Sheriffs torture the gang members, using the Great Memory Recovery Technique on them to make them confess why they had rioted, smashed, and looted on the streets today.

The Governor and the court nobles weren’t fools. After some time, it had dawned on them that there had to be a mastermind behind this.

Who had made them do it? And for what purpose?

Otherwise, even if these gang members had grown nerves of steel, they wouldn’t have dared to act so brazenly on the streets of Lukaron.

Of course, the Governor would only conduct a preliminary investigation and hand the results over to Henry. He had no intention of pursuing the matter further himself.

The political and power struggles behind this were not something a "mere" Governor of the imperial capital could meddle in.

He had no title to his name, nor a family to act as his patron. It was better to just be a good little bureaucratic tool.

’This world is too terrifying.’

Henry turned, mounted his horse, and the Cavalry who weren’t escorting the gang members fell in behind him.

He didn’t head directly to the Emperor’s palace. Instead, he led his men straight to the city prison.

He was going to personally interrogate the arrested gang members. He needed to know who was truly pulling the strings.

’As for whether this was against the rules... what rules? If no one stops me, then it’s within the rules.’

Inside the prison, the gang members were locked in dark cells. When Henry walked in, they huddled together, shrinking in fear.
