Konjiki no Moji Tsukai (Reboot)

149: What is the Kupidus?

Approximately ten years ago, Xel Geo was on his way to hear rumors that his weapon was sleeping in a magical place.

The reason is to retrieve the found weapon and keep it out of the hands of others.

He was trying to avert any tragedy by recovering the existence that led to the struggle, since he had gained power and lost his family because of the weapons he had created.

The location where Xel headed is called the [Door Ruins].

There was a building that was once said to have been built by a certain race.

Almost weathered over the years, Xel was walking along the rock walls that collapsed when he touched them, searching endlessly for the skyscrapers.

Then I felt something in Xel's senses. It is also a slight odor and a sign of life. And above all, I felt the existence of the weapon I created.

As he walked along with his senses, it was led to a large stone statue.

And surprisingly, underneath the statue, we found a staircase leading to the underground passage as if it were hidden.

As it stood, Xel followed the strong signs of the weapon from beneath. But right after I stepped in, the smell made me reluctant to push Xel any further.

Intense... smell of blood.

And the unpleasant smell of rotten meat greatly stimulated the mucous membrane of the nose. Originally, I wanted to leave this place as soon as possible, but I moved my legs thinking that I would not only have the weapon if I came here.

Inside, it is as if it had been dug into the earth, and as if it were an ant's nest, several roads are separated. It was undoubtedly the size and complexity of being lost when strangers entered.

However, Xel walks without getting lost because of his sensing abilities. Gradually the signs of the weapon get stronger, and there is an incredible amount of fear running through a hole.

It felt as if the blade was pointing at me from behind, and as if I was grabbing my life, but it soon subsided.

I noticed an unusual amount of sweat coming out of my body. Hostility, killing, and, no, a mixed and intense will.

But I don't feel it anymore. The more I wondered what it was, the more silence was spreading.

As I rang my throat, my strange senses approached me again and proceeded to the tip of the hole with caution. Surprisingly, several coffin-shaped objects were housed there.

Unexpectedly, Xel frowned. That's because the smell of blood and stink got stronger. The place was square, with a fairly large space. And the number of coffins is so compassionate.

The coffin was arranged in an unnaturally circular shape, and the coffin was also tightly placed in the circle, so it was quite a strange sight.

(Does it mean anything...?

There is a walking space in the center of the room that extends straight towards the edge of the room. At that point, there was an object embedded in the wall that made the stone statue you saw many times larger.

Stone statues also look like big beasts and ugly faces.

I was so creepy, I was just watching the cold running. And as he looked through the stone statue, Xel opened his eyes wide.

Because I knew a sword that was stuck in the forehead of that huge embedded stone statue. It was undoubtedly a sword once made by Xel.

I'm not sure why this happened, but I stroke my chest down at what I found.

On the way to pick it up, I hear something collapsing, and I look at you in a hurry. Then I found an anomaly in one of the coffins that was just placed in the center of the room. Apparently, the lid of the coffin was too weathered and collapsed.

Xel self-explains that he may have collapsed due to a faint vibration as he came here and walked. I casually looked inside the coffin, and there was something to watch.

It's some kind of mummy. It's as black as carbide, it doesn't feel good watching.

Besides, people couldn't tell what kind of race they were mummifying. But Xel had a little knowledge of the ruins.

(... this is the Kupidus tribe...)

It is a mysterious species that is now believed to be extinct. Little indication of its existence was found in the literature, and neither had I actually met nor seen Xel, who lived for a long time.

I knew they were the species that built this [door ruins], but I was glad to know what they built it for and why they were mummifying here.

(Hmm? This is....)

The second thing I saw was a bunch of paper placed on the mummy's head. It was fading enough to make me feel the season, but it didn't seem to have weathered completely.

After worshipping one intrigued Xel, he took the bundle of paper.

Handle gently and be careful not to break down.

There it was written the name of God which they were supposed to worship, and the sword which they were supposed to have made.

"... Magic Sword...?

It was hard to read, but it did say so. And the name of the "Magic Sword"...

"... Sacrifice..."

I glanced at it casually with an interest in it, and it was a failure to say my name again.

At the next moment, I feel the tough will that I felt at that time. At the same time, a dazzling light bursts out from under your feet, and your body feels extremely weak. It was as if something was sucking my power away.

"Shit... this is it!?

Suddenly, the mouth of the stone statue embedded in the wall moved and countless tentacles stretched out from it.

"Ha!?

He jumps off the spot without thinking. But somehow the tentacles were stretching toward the coffin. If you think you've put tentacles in most coffins, in an instant each mummy inside will turn ash and scatter.

The tentacles pierce other coffins one after the other.

And then he attacked Xel.

I think it's bad, and when I step back from the scene, the tentacles now look confused as if they've lost their target.

(Is this... hmm?

Looking at his feet, the ground was not shining. It appeared that the light was shining to cover a place in the coffin, and the tentacles were acting only within that range.

(What the hell is this light...?

At the tip of the arrow gazing at the sight, the tentacle now pulls out the sword stuck on the forehead of the stone statue, and the tentacle wraps the sword. It's like a cocoon.

"What the hell...?

To get answers, I look through the paper and see if there is anything written on it.

There was something astonishing written there.

Seeing it, Kuzel thought it was bad as it was, and he put his hand on the sword that was pointing to his waist, kicked the earth, and instantly packed it into the present state of the statue.

Then I slashed the tentacle that appeared from my mouth with the sword. Disgusting green liquid is sprayed from the cut area.

The cocoon supported by the tentacles fell to the ground.

However, the tentacle is sucked into the sword as if it were absorbed. No, rather than absorbing it, it's covering the sword and changing its shape. And sometime, the light at my feet was gone.

"Is this...?!?

I was also surprised that the sword I was supposed to have made had turned into an object with a clearly different shape, but what was more surprising was that something creepy like an eye appeared at the root of the sword. Plus, it is.

"Gahhhhhhhhhh!"

Xel didn't know what it was anymore. Suddenly a loud laugh roars from the sword. And the eyes of the sword turned toward Giolo and Xel.

"Hoho, this time Hatemeega Envoy Slick... Zuben Poor Minister Soudaga... Maai..."

A laugh that makes the glass feel uncomfortable with its nails and a low, frightening speech are directed at Xel.

"Saa, I beg you. What's the matter with you?

This sword... no, I have an instinct that objects must not exist in this world. Xel acted quickly after feeling that way.

When you remove the knife from your pocket, release it from your sheath and shake it by your side.

And then there was a slit in the space, and the sword that was looking at it was like, "Ah?" She shouted strangely.

Holding the knife in his pocket, he reached out to the nicked space. Then, surprisingly, you sink your hand as if you were burying your hand in the sand.

"What's a city?

Without answering that question, Xel moves only the hands that sink into space without talking from the sword. It's as if you're looking for something.

"... there it is"

Slowly, Kuzel pulled out his hand.

But there was a black sheath in his hand. The sheath was wrapped in chains and exuded a vivid atmosphere. The moment you take it out, the gap in the space is repaired beautifully.

"What dah?

Slowly approaching a sword that only speaks, Xel looks down with a strong expression.

"... I'm sorry, my child. I never thought this would happen."

Xel had a sad expression and dropped his sheath on the sword.

"Oh, what the hell!?

The moment you touch the sheath, you emit a dazzling light.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Patterns and sheaths are sturdy chained and treated in such a way that they cannot be released.

Then Xel took the sword, and entered the [Belial Sea] near it. I came here because I heard that the sea was dangerous enough for no one to approach.

Xel dived into the ocean as it was, but he couldn't go much deeper than he thought. However, judging that he had been able to come deep enough, he quietly let go of the sword in the sea where the bottom was invisible.

Slowly, but surely looking at the sword sinking to the sea floor with a sad look, Xel left the scene behind.

I wish I could destroy it, but I decided it would be dangerous if I had a bad impact and sealed it in a place where no one could get near it.

There are terrible monsters on the bottom of the ocean here, so even if I found out where the sword is, I would not be able to get it.

(This is fine... this is something you shouldn't let out in the world)

I was sad that my sword had become like that, but I was still glad that I had been cleaned up.

(If you can, I want you to sleep in the sea forever.)

Xel, who had gone up to land, was holding hands and silently praying.

Lillin first asked about the details of the Magic Sword Sacrifice, which naturally would be questionable to the people who quietly listened to Xel.

"Look at this."

Asked by Lily, Xel took a book out of the bag that was on the floor. Everyone stared at it placed on the desk and frowned.

"What is that...?

Of course, Lillin asks for answers.

"This is an ancient document about Sacrifice that I found at [Door Ruins]."

"Ancient documents?... let me see."

"I see. But please don't make it miscellaneous."

Lillin rolls the cover when she receives the book. Then it overflowed with "I see."

It certainly looked like a book, but when I looked at it, it was the exact file that was carefully pasted onto the paper one by one of the old documents that Xel found.

Otherwise, there would have been a risk of collapse. It seems that Xel was afraid of it and kept the file.

But from the first page, Lillin's face was distorted like a question mark.

"... I can't read it."

I couldn't decipher the words written there at all. Of course, I could pick up meaning for a painting that was drawn everywhere, but I couldn't understand it unless I knew what was written.

"Lord Lillin, I want you to show me."

When Yveam arrived beside Lillin, Akwinas and Marione followed behind him.

"... this is..."

Yveam narrowed his eyes as well, but he kept his gaze down because he still didn't know the words.

"It's no wonder you can't read. The characters used there are not" Lanaris ", which is currently commonly used in [Idea], but" Ancient Egyptian ". It's a character that's been lost for a long time now."

Then Akwinas quietly grabbed the book and stared at it with his red eyes.

"... this is certainly the Ancient Egyptian Character."

"Can you read?

Xel immediately asked if he could conceal the surprise. Others are waiting for Akwinus to respond.

Yeah, just a little bit.

"Hmm, well, he's been living for a long time in vain."

Lillin said something that included a little mood.

"Nofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofofo

"Hey, shut up! If you put it that way, I don't think I'm learning enough about walnuts!

What Akwinas knows, but not what he doesn't, is simply not learning as knowledge. In other words, Lillin wasn't calm when compared to losing to Akwinas.

"In the meantime, Master Xel, is it written here about" Sacrifice "that made so much [Shanjumon Cave]?

Yveam returns to the conversation and asks, and Xel pulls his chin smaller and answers.

"Yes, at first I was astonished to see it at the ruins... no, I even learned fear."

"Fear...?

"Yes, let me start by telling you about the abilities of the Magic Sword Sacrifice that you would most like to hear."

Xel, who received the book from Akwinus, leaves it on his desk for everyone to see. And then I curled up some pages and stopped at some point. There was a picture of a sword in a terrible shape.

Instead of a regular sword, it is a pungent shape that freezes time as if it were the shaking of hell's flames. At the root of the blade, there was an eyeball that was also a description of Xel.

"The Magic Sword Sacrifice has the ability to destroy everything in exchange for the user's vitality."

"Vitality for money?

Lily raised her eyebrows in suspicion.

"Yes, the vitality we have here is not commonly understood physical strength, but literally the power of life. In other words, it's like life expectancy."

"... you mean to cut the life itself?

"No doubt about that understanding."

"Was there such a savage sword....."

So Yveam wondered,

"I'm sorry, Master Kuzel, it means destroying everything, but it's a little vague and I can't grasp it...."

"That's right. Simply put, in proportion to the vitality given to Sacrifice, anything in the world... even if it is the power of illusion created by the First Demon King's Core..."

"Stupid! That's not true!

It was Marione who yelled.

"Those who can see the illusion space created by the" First Demon King's Core "are the only ones who died. Even me and Akwinas couldn't stand a tooth! The power of the first demon king was so special! You can't break that power with a single sword! And why does the Kupidus need to produce such a sword!

The words alone tell us the reputation of that prized marionette. I wonder how extraordinary it was, the first demon king.

"I can't believe it, but what I said is true. And if you knew the relationship between the First Demon King and the Kupidus, would you understand?

Marione murmured at the words, and Yveam wonderingly looked in the order of Marione and Aquinas.

"In that state, apparently you don't know the Demon King, but can I talk to him?

Xel sends a gaze to Akwinas for approval. But when he shook his head small,

"No, I'll tell you what happened to them."

It seems that Akwinus himself is going to tell the story. Everyone's gaze turned towards him, and Akwinas began to shake his lips.

"Long ago, Adams, who was named the first demon king, had problems with the behavior of one family. The name of the clan is" Kupidus ". They were a minority and had no relationship with any other race at all. They were very quiet people."

"What's the problem? I don't think there's anything else wrong with my behavior because I don't seem to have anything to do with a fight....?

Yveam says so, but Akwinas keeps his eyes closed.

"Yes, everyone thought so. But only Adams remembered their strange discomfort."

Feeling uncomfortable?

"It was only a small detail, something that everyone would miss."

"... what the hell...?

"The eyes when they saw other species... the sight of Adams felt a faint light in their eyes. It's like a predator's eye that looks down, yet sees a hawk crawling into the earth."

"Well, that's...."

"Nobody noticed their eyes. Only Adams felt the discomfort slightly and ordered an investigation into the Valkyria that he had previously talked about but created himself. And I discovered something amazing."

Yveam snorts his throat.

"I looked into it, and it turns out that many of their countrymen were killed by their hands."

"Ha!?

"Knowing that, Adams decided to certify them as a dangerous species and explore their trends in earnest. What I learned about them was their ethnicity and the idea of being too vicious."

"Characteristics? Thought?

"Race traits, the nature of human flesh they prefer."

Yveam bluishes with his hands on his mouth because of the unexpected impact of the words.

"It also means that you can incorporate the characteristics of prey eaten into yourself. So they ate a strong" demon tribe, "and raised their presence."

"That's not true... even though it's the same" Magus clan "..."

"Why would they do such a thing... they knew they would eat the same kind of food that ordinary 'Magus' would eat. I mean, I didn't have to eat my compatriots to live. And that leads to their black ideas."

"Yes, that's the idea! What the hell is that idea?

Yveam also questioned with a slightly excited expression.

"Thought, it is the resurrection of God."
