Kuro no Maou
Lesson 36: Formation of the Crusades
The newly constructed demonic battleship Gargantua was moored in a port town the size of which would enter five fingers among the huge territory that overwhelms the Sinclair Republic, the western half of the Ark continent.
This battleship, built by collecting copies of the latest magic technology, is so immense that it skipped the tourist's temper that it was packed with when it was first revealed here.
Size is almost equal-bound to strength, and 'immensity’ is the most discernible symbol of power, especially in the vast otherworlds of ferocious monsters.
But Saliel's eyes, staring 'gargantuar' through the window of a room, do not dwell on any emotions.
Because with the power of the Apostle, it is also impossible to sink this state-of-the-art giant demonic battleship on your own?
No, those red ruby-like shiny eyes won't shake anything, they'll just be there but they'll look straight at you.
Yes, the young archbishop by the name of Lychrome groaned in his heart.
"Sir Saliel, what about the Gargantuar, the Navy's prized demonic battleship?"
Sariel took his gaze off the window and slowly turned to Lychrome.
Moving to those red eyes is the figure of a beautiful young man with thin but long lines.
It has blonde blue eyes on white skin and typical republican characteristics, but all the parts that shape him are incomparable completions with the others. The long, loose-waved blonde hair waves abundantly, and the beauty through the nostrils in the eyes that dwell on the marine blue glow is so confusing with the woman.
Wearing a brilliantly decorated pure white coat that symbolizes the height of the position of Archbishop, everyone in the Cross is so divine that they do not doubt him as the use of the Lord.
His beauty is so much so that he truly dwells in charm (charm). If she is the woman of Shirai, she will follow her destiny to captivate her beauty if she speaks to him and meets her eyes.
"Very, very big"
There's just one surprisingly concise thought that came out of Saliel's mouth.
As he himself thought, it was true that Saliel looked directly at Luchrome's beauty without his eyes shaking slightly into emotions.
It's just an element for Sariel to discern individuals in the first place, such as the appearance of a person. Even with her ugly judgment, she doesn't have any feelings for it.
Lychrome did not know whether it was by and large the 'equality' of the Crucifixion, or whether it was just a fatal lack of emotion.
"Master Left, let me tell the officers that Sir Saliel has been greatly complimented."
Sariel glances back out the window again.
Whether that eye is looking at the battleship, the harbor, or the wavering ocean, no, maybe even beyond the horizon.
(It doesn't change, this lady, only she looks as if time has stopped.
But because I removed the 'restraint (ring)', I feel the power of strong protection... on the contrary, I'm going to be more 'fascinated’)
The reason these two people, who have known each other in the past, are now here is because a new name has been added to the respective titles' Seventh Apostle 'and' Archbishop '.
It was called 'Commander-in-Chief of the Crusades' and 'Deputy Commander of the Crusades'.
A 'crusader' is an army organised to achieve the crisis of the Church or the will of God, different from a standing army held by the State.
Two hundred years ago, it was a crusader launch since the invasion of the Holy City of Elysion by a great army of infidels.
(I guess everyone thinks I've been pushed for an unpleasant role)
Opposition dominates the ‘conquest of the Pandora continent‘, the purpose of this establishment, within the present republic.
That is by no means a humanitarian reason against the taking of another's land, but simply for economic reasons.
In order to make the Pandora continent human, we have to expel the demons who live there, and even the common people know how many lives and money it will cost to fulfill it, or at least it will cost enormously to cross the sea and travel on an expedition.
(But Cardinal Ars saw this crusade establishment as an opportunity, even for me, it seems like a terrible bad bet -)
It is the words unleashed by the Lord, Cardinal Ars, the most trustworthy man in the world, that emerge behind Lychrome's brain.
"I have recommended to the Commander-in-Chief of the Crusades the Seventh Apostle, Sir Saliel, the conquest of the Continent of Pandora, if approved, would have been the same".
And the Pope allowed it, and it was also approved by the Congress of the Republic, and Saliel was officially appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Crusades.
(If they say so until then, I have no objection)
In response to Ars' intentions, Lychrome ran for deputy commander, and there was no candidate for conflict and an immediate decision was made.
The total number of crusaders eventually formed was 15,000, historically the lowest army crusader.
Without daring to think about what that would mean, Luchrome spoke to Saliel to switch his mind.
"From here to Virginia, it seems to take about a week."
As Sariel looks back and follows Lüchrome's gaze, what lies ahead is a single map spread out on the table.
There is a technique for making maps that is so precise that magic makes them comparable to modern Earth, but the maps we have here now are as simple as they are drawn in rough lines.
It means that it is a place where precise surveys could not be carried out, and such a place is nothing more than a Pandora continent with an untouched earth.
The only port town in that continent of Pandora that the Republic has built as a bridgehead of aggression is' Virginia '.
The eastern end of the continent has become a natural good port with a developed Rias style coast, which was a truly ideal terrain as a base for moving between the two continents, Pandora and Ark, separated by the sea.
"It will take nearly a month to transport all 15,000 soldiers and supplies and get ready."
The Pandora Continental Invasion was still promoted when the construction of Virginia began, and many became pioneers and crossed the sea in search of dreams under the catchphrase ‘Pandora Continent is a paradise full of wealth‘.
There was also luxurious financial assistance from the State and the Church, and the construction of Virginia went well.
Virginia developed to the point where ports and settlements were developed and by the time six months after construction it could be more clearly called a port town than a fishing village.
With the completion of a base of this magnitude, an act of aggression by force was finally launched.
According to what I hear, the number of soldiers who came out of Virginia at that time was 2,000, and the spearhead of that invasion was the fortified city known as' Daedalus'.
I don't see why you wanted to challenge Daedalus, who boasts a robust defense, with just 2,000 soldiers, now.
Because the high-ranking knight with a certain title, who is the commander who decided to go forth, bravely took the lead in the first battle, and perished every one of his troops.
"Until this one is ready, no, at least until a week after Sir Saliel and I arrive in Gargantua, I hope Virginia hasn't been destroyed by the Daedalus army"
That's how the Daedalus strategy by the 2,000 knights leads to the current situation in which the Republic is embroiled in an aversion mood.
In short, he suffered the great defeat rarely seen in the Republic's war history of giving a ‘legion of demons' named Daedalus, who suffered 1,200 casualties that far exceeded the 40% damage defined as total annihilation in the military.
According to reports by the surviving soldiers, the Daedalus army, headed by the king's Black Dragon, consisted of powerful races that boasted power far beyond humans such as Oak, Warwolf, Golem, Cyclops, and nearly ten times more in numbers, and were defeated indefinitely before their overwhelming power and numbers.
The Daedalus army then approached them until they besieged Virginia, but they withdrew lightly within a few days without stepping into the city.
Virginia still has a robust fortress that it built where a lot of financial aid was made, and it is expected that the Daedalus army decided it was dangerous to force it to attack.
From then until today, envoys seeking expulsion from Daedalus to Virginia have made occasional visits, and the situation is that scouts are stepping up surveillance around the neighborhood.
Virginia, which has already pushed through in the form of silence for six months, it is also said that it is only a matter of time before the earliest Daedalus enters the offensive, and that is why the Daedalus army may step into Virginia without waiting a week for Saliel and Luchrome to arrive.
"Virginia will never fall."
Saliel groaned as small as a soliloquy, but with a clear and definitive intent.
"The conquest of the Pandora continent will surely be made, what the White God wanted"
Yes, you're right, Sir Saliel.
That was in no way a joke or a pre construction, he said sincerely, that the conquest of the Pandora continent was what God wanted.
Why can you say all that, are you an apostle because you can say so without question, and if you give your faith, you can reach that frontier?
It's not such a matter of faith, it's simpler, Sariel's words are understandable to everyone at the Cross.
Because really ‘God said what he wanted’.
And call it a 'trust'.
A year ago, the divine service given down to the Church
"Conquer and dedicate the Pandora Continent"
And the Republic crossed the sea to the continent of Pandora, and made Virginia.
In the Sinclair Republic, where the Crucifixion is the national religion, the trust can never be unimpeded, even if it is to the detriment of whatever it may be, to do everything in its power.
The Crucifixion has always done its best, with or without accomplishment, in the divinity of any difficulty, and that is how it has now come to acquire a faith area so enormous as to sweep the western half of the Ark continent.
In this case, God again entrusted Pandora's conquest once it was suspended or frozen indefinitely due to the presence of the mighty Daedalus army.
"Conquer and dedicate the Pandora Continent"
Words are exactly the same as before, word for word.
We couldn't just give up like this, we had to make every further effort, beyond the fact that the same trust had twice disappeared.
If you really pour in all of your national power, you will be able to fulfill the conquest of the Pandora continent.
But more important to the Sinclair Republic and the Church is the Arc Continent, where we live than in ancient times, than the Undeveloped Continent.
The Republic, which now expands to half of it and assumes the hegemony of the continent, cannot let go of this, because it means the decline of the country and at the same time leads to the loss of God's glory.
As a result of these notions, it is the official view of the Church on the "divinity" that the conquest of the Pandora continent will do everything in its power to such an extent that it has no influence on the maintenance of hegemony in the Arc continent.
(Will we be sacrifices to God, or will we reign in miraculous victory and become heroes -)
Everyone predicts that this trust will never be made.
This 15,000 crusader is only a testament to the execution of God's will, so to speak, a sacrifice of the mood, a force sufficient for the Republic to lose to the fullest.
But if the Crusaders led by Saliel defeated the Daedalus army, the situation would be reversed.
Almost all fifteen thousand, led by Lychrome, are breathtaking soldiers of Ars, if such they dominate Daedalus and take a major step in the conquest of the Pandora continent, the profits Ars, the crusader's de facto head, will be immeasurable.
Instead of the Crusaders having little chance of winning, the return in the unlikely event of a victory would be too immense.
For Ars, he betrayed his life, but it was those around him, including Lychrome, who saw it that way, and he put Saliel in the general as he wished, believing in absolute victory and not questioning it.
(- The race has already been thrown, I will do everything in my power to lead the Crusaders to victory)
There is no regret in Lychrome, he is the archbishop of consequence, who has defended and served his life under Ars under any harsh circumstance until now.
Same as before, just execute Ars' life, and,
(Lord Saliel, let me believe in you whom Cardinal Ars believed)
Luchrome vowed to dedicate his full confidence to Sariel.
Thus led fifteen thousand crusaders, and the seventh apostle Saliel crossed the sea to conquer the continent of Pandora.
This day was also the fourth of the month of the green wind, the day that Chrono met Lily with his destiny.
